squeeze
My old HS b-ball coach, an italian guy who played ball with Curt Flood and Frank Robinson back in the day in Oaktown, had a favorite expression: “When you got em by the balls, you gotta squeeze.”
This is the squeeze game. We beat Sanchez or their pen, Tigers are down 3-0 and basically done. If they can rebound, they’ll be fired up and pointing toward another Verlander start game 5 monday when (in their dreams) they could go ahead 3-2. Imo saturday is the pivotal game. SF had best squeeze the life out of them, now.
Okay. I’m confused
?
imo, if Detroit wins game 3, they regain confidence and belief in themselves, esp with home crowd. Even if they lose game 4, they have Cy guy going monday which they figure he wins–ergo, they are no worse than down 3-2 and force SF to play more games. They have Fister, who shut us down, ready for game 6. Game 7, anything can happen (ask Texas). I just think this is the one SF really needs, to bury them.
Alleykat is a friend of mine. And go giants
A friend of Alleykat is a friend of ours. Welcome to the Flap Gratonite! 🙂
Gratonite – do you live in Graton? I only ask because I’d love to think I had another Sonoma County buddy on the blog…
Go Giants!!!
Ferret, I grew up in Santa Rosa, you do have another Sonoma County Giant fan!!
On the MLB network tonight, Mitch Williams said “This Series will definitely go back to San Francisco. The Tigers WILL win at least one game in Detroit.”
Mitch is not a math whiz.
That is classic. No wonder Will smoked that single off him in ’89. Williams probably thought he was up by three runs…
Snark you hit the nail.. Mitch had that thought in 2010 playoffs while almost single-ally picking the Giants’ opponent to win
LOL, those guys really love giving info to the viewers.
Williams is drunk most the time so that makes sense.
Bozo, is Sandy the “test storm” for all the improvements you have made with the house?
Stay warm, my man. I never knew the OBX poked out that far compared to the mainland.
Vogel-Strong, DH, road
we score we win
Go Gigantes!
Catching up, because I can.
Romo: The thing I have liked about Romo is that his stuff, as displeasing to scouts as it may be, is working. And has been for almost two full seasons now. everyone knows his “dot free” slider is coming and yet? they cannot hit that pitch. #goromogo
Windows 8: Thanx Twin, I eagerly await your take on this. I am testing server 2012 so have no capacity to run 8 up the flagpole. I can see some future worries for the PC version as hardware manufactures adjust to the market and Win8 machines could quickly become obsolete with support dropping as manufacturers move forward. Which has nothing to do with how 8 works for the user.
AL lineups: I guess Bruce is a better manager than I am. I know he likes any flexibility and choices he can get from his bench which may be one reason to not start Arias.
Where is Melky when we need him (DH)?
eddacker ducks out the back dodging items being hurled his way with a spry speed seldom seen in a man his age.
Peace!
Edd- Sandy will be the first major storm to hit us since Irene fucked us up. So yeah Herr frankenstorm will be our test storm. I know I live in a part of Hurricane Alley, but man, I was really hoping to get thru this hurricane season without getting hit. Almost made it, I think the season ends in a couple of days.
Today is just finishing up securing some things and then just hunker in. The radio is tuned into ESPN just in case we lose power during the game. The station is located on Hatteras Island which will get hit about the same time as me, so keep your fingers crossed that they keep broadcasting the game and not just emergency warnings.
When I had my mountain home, my deal was the white shit, otherwise known as snow. Each approaching winter (Fall), I would dread the blizzards to come. While you spend your time “securing some things,” likewise, I would be spending my time “winterizing my home,” e.g., slurry seal the asphalt driveway, clean gutters of leaves, check for loose shingles, inspect and maintain the HVAC system, etc., etc. Oh, did I grow to hate winter up there.
The March 2003 Blizzard of the Century, where I personally had 8-10 feet of snow in my driveway and had to constantly remove snow from my decks and roof, as well as dig a tunnel to the street almost 70 yards away, didn’t break my will or shake my belief that I was living in “Gods Country.” No, I sold my beautiful house because the cumulative effect of these *$%@!+)^% blizzards over the years defeated me . . . Two of the last three years I lived up there I had lesser storms (from the 2003 one) do significant damage to my property, where I said fuck this shit, selling the house and buying a condo in the city. 🙂
My point? Keep fighting the good fight Bozo and I hope you get through this storm in one piece.
Thanks Blade. Be careful and stay safe all you other folks in Sandy’s path.
Go get em, Giants.
Hey, Mother Nature, listen up: Only we get to say “Fuck Bozo”! You have to be nice!!!
Be safe Bozo and others in the path of the storm! I’ll be sending good weather thoughts your way.
Edd-as widely reported, 8 is built for touch- without it, it’s just annoying-so far. I had go online to see how to shut it down. The good news, as I learn about it’s features, you can basically toggle out of 8 and it’s 7 again!
I am doing my watch of tivoed “Daily Show” from this week and the first one is from the debate. Jon Stewart has chosen to title his review of the debate: ‘I Missed Game 7 of the NLCS for this?’
lqtm
I understand Willie’s take but the only way I would be concerned about this series is if we were swept in Detroit. I predicted a “heart pounding” 7 game series but I can’t honestly say I expected *both* Zito and MadBum to win, I don’t disagree that a win tonight would all but seal the deal, but even 1 out 3 leaves us in the driver’s seat.
Bozo-as always, I wish you and your family well.
Thanks twin, we should be OK. For some reason, I’m more worried about being able to watch the game than the storm itself. I’m not trying to trivialize the storm or what it’ll do, just feeling pretty good about our situation.
All I have left to do is secure some porch items and hunker down.
Cheers.
It took Prince a lot of practice to perfect his slide
http://goo.gl/Lg6V3
Is there a game tonight?
Maybe…what’s it worth to you to know for sure? I could probably find that information for you for a small fee… (Hey, I’m not working, gotta make my scratch where I can.)
Do you take Sterling?
If it spends, I’ll take it!!!
Political interlude……
Nate Silver, of the 538 blog, now has Obama at a 74% chance to win the election. Nate’s book “The Signal and the Noise” is in the top 10 of the NY Times non-fiction bestseller list.
Nate’s “stock” is real high right now. If Obama loses the election, Nate’s stock will take a big hit.
He’s been pretty spot on for the election cycles since I have started following him. His breakdown of the electoral map is very informative – especially if you start to panic about popular vote polls. People don’t elect the President, the Electoral College does….wha!?!?!?
I saw him on the Daily Show talking about that book.
Intelligent guy.
To be consise, it’s actually 74.4% (and 78.6% “now cast”) and is up 6.5% since Oct. 19th. Even nationally, Obama overtook Romney in the aggregate polls per Silver, by a miniscule .2%. gain of .4% since last Thursday. Disregard the national numbers – the swing states are what counts and Obama is clearly in the “drivers seat” and has 295.4 (296.8 “now cast) electoral votes forecast by Silver. Similar to the Giants lead and eventual win in this World Series, I have NO doubt that Obama wins comfortably against Romney.
There’s a bunch of music biographies and autobiographies out these days. A lot of the “classic rockers” are reaching an age where they’re comfortable sharing about their past and their private lives.
Neil Young, Pete Townshend, and Springsteen all have bestselling books. Keith Richards’ book was a bestseller. And there are others.
Of those, I’ve only read Neil’s book so far. It held my interest throughout, and was very poignant is some places, and humorous.
Well, I don’t know if they wrote a book, but if yip watch the movie/documentary of The Bands, “The Last Waltz” it told some pretty interesting things about what went on during that concert. I love the part about Neil Diamond coming out on stage with a ring of white around his nostrils.
Errr….did you mean Neil Young? While he has had a rather storied career, I don’t recall Neil Diamond ever being associated with The Band. (I could be wrong, of course, as this was all WELL before my time. lol)
Ferret, actually both Neils came out for the Last Waltz.
By the way, thanks for telling that bitch, Mother Nature, off for me.
Piece in a recent Rolling Stone on that
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/videos/flashback-neil-diamond-proves-himself-worthy-at-the-last-waltz-20121016
Oh, I always read about Neil Young’s cocaine booger – did I just assume it was Young? I dunno, I wasn’t there, haven’t seen the movie, talkin’ out my arse – again!!!
Hey gang! Just a quick note – if you send me a friend request in Facebook, add your Flap handle to the request. I can’t always tell from names & faces who you are…okay? Thanks – I don’t want to accidentally disregard a request from a member of my extended baseball family.
This is funny.
Saw it, love it, want it framed!
No shit. That is funny. At least Verlander has a sense of humor.
blade – apparently it’s fake but funny as hell in my book.
Fuck Bozo. That blew my fantasy to hell. 😦
fake photos, fake sports photos. Wait’ll I tell Julia (lonely girl from Russia, likes older men). She and I will just laugh.
together
Here you go Ferret
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RurccWvJiS8
Pagan
Scutaro
Sandoval
Posey
Pence
Belt
Blanco
H Sanchez dh
Crawford
BTW, the way the DH rule works, as I understand it, if Buster were hurt or left the game for any reason and Hector took over, the pitcher would then bat 4th, Hector 8th as now, there would no longer be a DH.
You are corrrect
So I guess if they wanted to keep the DH, Panda could catch and Arias at third. Or would that screw up having a DH as well? I really should look up the whole DH thing, because I don’t know a damn thing about it.
That scenario would keep the DH. The DH is lost when/if the DH takes over for a position player. In the situation you describe, Hector did not do that.
Thanks twin.
Have a good game guys. I gotta go to this Octoberfest thing here in town and make an appearance because my brother is running it but I’ll sneak out of there no later that the 2nd inning..
Go Giants
A. Sanchez’s platoon splits show that over the last 2 years he has been far more effective against lefties than RH batters.
well, as you know, his numbers against the Giants are outstanding—Latos-esque. But look where that got Latos? Upper deck rope grand slam.
I followed A-Sanchez very closely in 2012 and spent the majority of the Summer cursing his name.
But he’s got the potential to throw a no hitter every time out there.
Let’s hope we get some of the *mid-summer* Anibal and and not the *other* Anibal…..
I will take more pleasure in seeing Sanchez get his ass kicked than any of the other pitchers on the Detroit staff. I was at the ballpark for this game, the day after Posey was lost for the season:
http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/SFN/SFN201105260.shtml
that must have been a little like (I said a *little*) the game after Melky went bye bye. They lost that one, too. Then Angel Pagan turned into Ricky Henderson….
I followed him too, i.e., I had him on a FL team last year, as well as this year – last year he was very, very good, especially in SO (202) and ERA. He never wins much, usually right around .500 or worse. His WHIP is also a bit high, at least for fantasy league.
This year, there were two “Anibal’s” and I traded his ass after his horrendous start in late June, where he allowed 6 or 7 runs in 3 innings pitched. Second time in the month, that he had done that. So, as you said Flav, let’s hope that guy shows up.
not sure what his run support was this year, and it probably wouldn’t have mattered because of how bad he was for 3 months, but he was one of the least supported pitchers (with runs) in 2011….
hope I don’t have to take down the BBOTD. She’s this year’s Sun Dressed Goddess–no losses since I put her up there. It’s been a little tough to open that page each day, she’s a skosh bedraggeled and those teeth look a little snaggled, but if she brings home another *W* then she’s the perfect woman for me………
well, the good news about the box score that James posted is that there were 13 Giants who appeared in that game. Two are still on this team: Huff (who is basically a ghost) and Voggy (who gets his revenge tonight backed by a *real* offense)
I know this is a disgusting thing I’m about to do but AJ-P(ussy) is starting to grow on me a little bit. Certainly, he’s better than that fuck Karros.
Harold is doing a good job of explaining why that cut off was a fuck up turned into gold…..
Yes! GameTime and I get a free hour of game tonight.
if we don’t win tonight I will wander the streets and rip someone’s heart out, eating it while it is still beating.
And that makes it a must win game
Go Giants!
Dang Edd, cut back on the coffee or something. Actually, fuck it, eat someone’s heart, win or lose. It’s time we go “bath salts” on these bitches…….
And I must say, you’ve left the British smack talk behind. No more *soupy* call outs! Love it!
Yeah, go “Jack the Ripper” on someone. I’m Mitt Romney and I approve this message. 🙂
And I agree with what Twin has said several times, Buster is way too far off the plate for these swipe tags. Got lucky on that one from the other night…
For what it’s worth, Sanchez has only dominated us at ATT. At home he was human.
Well, he was human at home this year, anyway. 5.1 IP 7 H 5 R 5 ER 2 BB 7 K. We ended up winning 14-7, Vogie was the winner. Against the Marlins, of course.
hey, are you guys seeing ESPN BB2N pregame. I just had 20 mins of Sutcliffe reading other people’s opinion.
Not certain it was mentioned here – Just got an email saying that Buster won the Hank Aaron Award, designating the best offensive performer in the NL. No idea who won the AL award.
Miggy, and they presented the award as part of the pre-game ceremonies. 1st time both winners were in the WS game
I’m ready for some baseball.
World Series baseball.
Giants, in the World Series baseball.
And, thinking of the folks across the Pond, I’m hoping for a win for the Giants. Not sure I want the headlines tomorrow to read “Heart ripped out and ate in the UK”
One Flap Nation. One common goal. WIN TODAY!!!.
Hey, non-baseball note – I am thinking about being a commissioner of a FL basketball league this season. Give me a shout if you are interested (blade3colorado@yahoo.com) . . . No pussies, only people that are going to play for the entire season, win, lose, or draw. 🙂
Why did Zooey Deschanel, sister of that Bones actress, sing the anthem? Is she a Detroit native? Favorite in the locker room? Does she have a show on Fox?
one vote for Kaline enjoyed watching him play.
I might be imagining this, so correct me if I am wrong . . . I can hear the announcers clearly because the fan noise is nowhere near as loud and constant as it was at the Phone Park.
No your not imagining Blade, these Tiger fans have no way the intensity of us Giant Fans!!!!
That’s why they will go down!!
Yeah kat, the enthusiasm of Giants fans make these fans look like they are attending a wake.
Huge DP!
Fantastic pick up by Belt on that DP.
WEll Guess what Mc Carver…It’s not a rough inning now for Vogy, when you turn the Pitchers best friend the DP.Dickhead!!!
Buck is such a fuck…He goes “Belt, so far this post season, hitless with 9 strikeouts….long pause….on the road”….
Same play by Posey in the last game – Buster caught it. lqtm.
Avila is in this game because of his hitting, not his catching (as I indicated in a post a few days ago).
fuck yeah!
And another gynormous FUCK YOU to Jeff Passan.
Yeah, that column of his was imbecilic and hilarious. Dufus.
Gregggggggor!
We score, we win. HEHEHE.
Big run after they failed to score…
stolen bases? Wild Pitches?
who needs them?
White Shark!!!
Oh Hell Yes,Senor Blanco way to smoke that ball!!!
Giants score 1st,Giants win baby!! Fuck these pansy ass Tiger players and fans!!7
I still love the contact the bottom of our order is making . . . Giants definitely smell blood.
Fuck yeah Crawford!
HAHAHA . . . Anibal is about to be toast in the next couple of innings.
Woo Hoo!!! Keep rockin boys!! Crawdaddy huge 2 out hit.And fuck Buck&McCarver cause I endorse this message about those 2!!
Hey Buck Fuck….What’s physcially wrong with.Sanchez is that he’s facing the Giants!!
No KNBR option on mlb.com tonight so I am listening to ESPN gary Thorne and Rick Sutcliffe.
avoiding FOX but there is an option to listen to “in park” while watching. If the game gets boring I will have to listen to that. Should be riveting.
and all through the house not was heard not even a mouse
Enchiladas from a restaurant in Detroit?
The Tigers must be tired of facing the top half of innings, already.
Volgolsong is getting it done
The way Sanchez is going he won’t make it thru 4. He looks shook up
Sanchez all over the map. Not much control of his pitches.
If the yankmees were doing what San Francisco is doing this postseason they would be calling for a national holiday.
Pablo and Buster let Sanchez off the hook last inning.
Fox Sports Executives just said, “Fuck . . . Is there anyway we can get out of our contract with MLB?”
LMFAO.
Sutcliffe just said,”here they come.”
then the DP and Thorne says, “oh, my, giants defence again.”
hehe
Another clutch DP!
Oh, the poor crowd!! They were just back in it — so very fucking sad!
Everytime we need the big play,we get the big play!!!
Never trust a guy with 2 different color eyes….just to scary, maybe for Haloween only though..
Idiocy interviewing players or mgrs during the game.
Joe Buck is squirming now. The Tigers are lost and Buck is bewildered with a team West of the Rockies thats bulldozing teams
totally. And he’s probably not wearing pants now. And while it doesn’t make any sense why the GIants winning would lead to Buck taking his pants off as a consequence for being a dumbfuck announcer, I do enjoy envisioning him as a dumbfuck pantless announcer. But hey, maybe that’s just me.
Your bro do ok tonight at his gig?
Yeah, it was a hell of a party. About 80 people, beers from all over the World, Brats, Lingiusa, Hot Dogs and all the fixens… good times…
SF would love a pantless Joe buck…
Hell of a stat..Giants have not trailed for 49 straight innings. That’s getting it done!!!
If Buck had only said, “The Giants gave won 5 straight tonight…” and then followed that up with “and Big
Flavor slapping that skanky fuckin’ GILFY ho up at the BBOTD widget at the flap was quite likely the impetus to this incredible run….”
I would…..
celebrate wildly.
And I as much as I’m enjoying this game, I want a check in from the best clown the world has ever known….
And if you have power and the time/interest to do it, skype me I’ve got my laptop on.
What’s your handle?
sent you an email
Panda has played phenominal defense in this postseason.
But then again, the whole team has.
voggy at 80 pitches
On one of the sites today someone said the giants were getting the lucky bounces. Granted that may be but this team is playing exactly the same way as 2010 when they beat Texas. Dominate Pitching, hits and generating runs in the right spot and Bochy out Coaching the other Manager. The amazing fact that Bochy is doing this with only one position player from 2010 speaks volumes on how he’s the best Manager in Baseball…
This ain’t no fluke…
However, Fluke is the Cadillac of electronic metering.
And a lousy movie with Matthew Modine
however, Matthew did have ‘The Winning Season’
and this proves this game is boring, tuck the figers
get a DP here and miggy’s head will explode all over the on deck circle
Grab some Berry’s meat.!
Beautiful!
Cabrara shot his wad on that swing. See ya
Iam at a loss of words…That was fucking huge!
Thank you Vogy…Great clutch pitching…The magic continues…
