Parade Pic Compilation
It’s going to be easier for me to just upload them into this thread. Starting from the bottom, the last 4 are from Snarkk, then 8 from Chico. After that, there’s about 9 or 10 from Chi. his top two are of him and his daughter and then of them with Demp28 and his wife. The 3 at the top are from Sarge who looks like he was way back a the civic center. He said his 6 year old took most of the pics so that’s why there are only 3 good ones, lol.
Great pics guys! That’s a pic of Chico wearing the Fresno Grizz owner’s ring (I guess he sat next to him yesterday and the dude let him take a pic with it. Chico, you either have some pretty big stones to have asked to wear it or that owner is the coolest owner on the planet). Oh, and I think you should send the one of Posey to his wife. She can crop it and use it as her facebook pic. That one is classic! The tickertape raining down on City Hall says it all. Thanks for sending these in you guys! If you have anymore keep emailing them to me. bigflavor77@gmail.com
Let’s keep this thread up for a few days……..

I might have to get the gray WS swag and the black parade stuff. Speaking of “swag,” I tweeted to ESPN’s Mike&Mike this morning that “Michael Vick has to get his swag back” was wrong. No, ESPN jerkoffs, you mean “swagger.”
Swagger? Well, that’s one thing.
But that fucker (nor the Eaglets) are seeing any “swag” as in Super Bowl winners anytime soon…
I like Pagan, too. I think the Giants will make a reasonable run at him.
Here, to me, would be the ideal OF.
Upton (or Bourn) – CF
Pagan – LF
Pence – RF
Blanco – 4th OFer
Both Bourn and Upton made about the same last year (Upton 7 mil, Bourn 6.85 mil).
I would love to see Upton patrolling center field of AT&T
you and me both
MLB network is showing a doc about the 2010 team right now, pretty cool so far.
I’ve come 180 degrees on Pagan. I think this year made it clear that 2011 was the outlier and he also put the “clubhouse cancer” talk to rest. I couldn’t have been more wrong about him. He’s still just an average defender but he improved as the year went on and he’s not a liabilty in the field now. Fangraphs has him as the second most valuable Giant this year, and that was right, IMO.
It still gets down to what *is* a reasonable offer, though. I really think he get at least 8 million and at just 30 YO, I believe he’ll get 4 years, maybe 5. I’ve come to think I’d do that if I were the GM- and I’m totally happy with a Blanco/Pagan/Pence outfield next year…BTW, I don’t see him anywhere but CF or they would have moved him this year at some point,
Wilson has pitched in 7 major league seasons, and averaged 45 innings a year. Romo has averaged 46 IP over 5 years. In 233 IP, Romo is actually below the major league avg in HRs per 9 innings.
Pretty misleading numbers on Wilson’s IP- he pitched 62,72,74 in his 3 full seasons as closer. His HR per nine is less than Romo’s. Wilson is 171-196 87 percent closing. Romo is 17-23 74 percent. Romo has shown that he’s an excellent roogie. Wilson has shown he’s an excellent closer. IMO.
The numbers were in response to the question of durability, and are not misleading in that regard. The role of closer is phony, a point I’ve been making for a few years now. To be clear, I like Wilson a lot, both as a pitcher and a personality. I just don’t think he has anything particularly special going over Romo as a “closer.”
I’m hoping Scoots goes for a 2 yr gig tops.Say 12-14 mil. Then the Giants groom Joe Panik.as their 2B of the future. He’s not gonna move Crawdaddy off SS anyway. So get him all the playing time at 2nd now.Think he is only 22or 23 so that bodes well for the extra learning curve he will need to adjust to a new postion.
They also have Brock Bond,so it’s added.depth as well.
Brock seems to be considered much as Pill was- a AAA player.
I’m going to post a Breeders Cup thread tomorrow for all the horse racing fans.
I’ll add photo’s to this page as they come in over the next 24-48 hours or so.
I think Romo grew into his role this year. He learned from some of his mistakes. Who could forget the *blast-me* frisbee to Hanley.
I think he’s trusting his fastball more because, well, he has to. But it has sick movement too, so I think he can be a successful long term closer, from a stuff standpoint, throwing an 88mph FB mixed in with his HOF-slider.
Now, whether he can handle the physical stress of the job is another story. I’m not sure he can do that………
The other factor that is still unknown is how he’d handle it mentally as *the* closer. It’s just not the same as being the top guy in a CBC, IMO. Not everybody can handle having the game totally on them, I doubt that was the case more than 3 or 4 times this year. I absolutely think he deserves the shot at it- if Wilson is not retained.
It’s pretty easy to go broke trusting any closer. How much did Boston pay Papelbon, and then let him walk? Marmol? K-Rod? Valverde was great this season, until he completely fell apart. Braves of 2011, with Venters and Kimbrel? Broxton and Kuo? Matt Capps? The list of guys who were lights out and then suddenly and maddeningly enough to team and fans lost it, is endless.
My point is SF won it all without Wilson, and I believe it could easily happen again since all the pieces/rotation stuff is already in place as long as you can retain Affeldt. There are already 6 solid arms there, with gards rags and bochy in charge. Wilson and his act to me, is like whatever, dude. I’ll pay more attention next time he gets someone out. If it ain’t for us, so be it. K and K can always call him a *good giant*.
I hear you about the fate of the front line closer. BUt Sabean learned his lesson with the Blownitez Disaster. And that’s the thing about Sabean, when you look at his career he doesn’t keep making the same mistake. He learns from them and the result is 2 out of 3 WS wins.
Go follow his career with the Giants and look at what he was trying to do each year. He’s absolutely turned himself into one of the top 3 GM’s in all of baseball………
Could be wrong, but I think Armando was the last signing they gave up a draft pick for, when he was acquired in the winter of 2004. Their first pick in 2005 was Ben Copeland in round 4, 132nd overall pick. First pick in 2006 was The Freak. The rest is history.
Having 6 other solid arms is a good argument for keeping Wilson, as well. And he probably won’t cost much more than Affeldt. They ain’t going broke with him. But I can see them deciding to go on without him, never thought otherwise. But I don’t see Bochy going with the CBC from the get go, he’s smart enough to know it doesn’t work long term.
I would definitely retain Affeldt also, if possible, BTW.
I’d like to see him return, but my gut says he’s gone.
I’m not a big fan of the NBA now, but I do watch and follow the Warriors.Nice to have to have a couple of games a week to make up for the loss of baseball. Bogut is a huge upgrade, Thompson Curry a nice back court and they have some solid depth. I’m excited about their chances.
I’m quite delighted to watch the Lakers implode this year. Besides that ridiculous Princeton offense they’re going to pretend to play, I can’t see the year finishing without Kobe and Nash spending a lot of time on the DL this year. They’re just old, anything can happen to them. And they aren’t the same players now even when they’re healthy. I’m going to say it right now, the Warriors will finish ahead of the Lakers this year.
And let the boos on that prediction cascade down upon me………
Rush looks like he just got seriously injured. He’s a big part of their bench.
Yeah, that hurts.
Chi, thanks for clearing that up about Vogelsong earlier.
Night all. I don’t always agree with them, but I always respect your opinions, Willie. Top notch comments.
I went to bed at 9pm last night, too. Finally regaining my normal sleep pattern.
This morning I am enjoying Oak Smoked Bacon Rashers recently come available at my local butcher. Just putting them in the pan and your hand smells like an oak bbq. A real taste of home.
Although some might be a bit saturated from soaking it all in, if not, Ben Fong-Torres wrote a pretty cool article
