A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

The Most Anticipated Football Match Up of the Year

And I’m not just talking about Niner and Pat fans, this one should have everyone buzzing. This one has it all: a HOF QB on one side, a tattoo-kissing QB, who literally runs like a gazelle, on the other. You’ve got Aldon Smith chasing the sack record. Randy Moss returning to the place where he set the season td for a wide receiver (still can’t believe Jerry doesn’t still have that record). And no one really knows if the Niner D is going to be able to slow down Brady or not.

Brady is an amazing quarterback (though he has benefited greatly from being able to play in the same offense, with many of the same personnel, for 10 years). You can’t play a zone because he picks that apart. You can’t blitz him because he sees that coming from a mile away and beats it almost every time. I think the only chance the Niners D has is if The Smith Bros step up and get to him. If the linebackers drop back in into coverage and Aldon is bearing down on Brady, it’ll be much more challenging for him to find an open receiver with 7 guys covering his men instead of 4 or 5. We have good cornerbacks, I hope we play a lot of man coverage and then let the chips fall where they may…….

I’m like everyone else, I have no idea what’s going to happen tonight. I am hopeful and truly believe that the D is gonna get it done. I’m not that worried about our offense, we’ll get enough points to win if the D steps up. I could see us scoring 24 points no problem. If that’s not enough to win, we could be in for a loss tonight.

But right now, who cares? I am so stoked for this game and love it that the Niners are relevant in the eyes of the rest of the country once again……..

I’ve never seen a QB fumble 3 snaps in one game, much less one half.

I almost never watch regular-season football, either in the NFL or college. Just clicked on THE GAME. Go, Niners.

I was in Connecticut on Friday and Saturday, in Ridgefield, two towns over from Newtown. When I was a kid, my Uncle Mike, my godfather, was institutionalized at the state hospital there. He was given electroshock therapy for depression. Today, he’d be given meds, presumably. Later, my grandfather was at the state hospital there, because it served as a nursing home. So, we used to take long, boring, tense drives there from Stamford on Sunday afternoons.

I’m not saying anything original, but God have mercy on the people there, and on all of us.

To clarify my unclear antecedents above: “there” refers to Newtown.

    Colin K channeling Steve Sax.

Somebody please explain to me why defensive coordinators insist on going to a zone defense when they have a big lead. The Niners were dominating and now the Patriots are right back in the game. Stupid as hell, Fangio.

Wild one. Boys at chucks might need medical attention.

alex has to be talking to himself. wins are always good wins but this didn’t have to be so stressful. on either side of the ball. there’s not going to be a change though.

He makes his mistakes, as any rookie will, regardless of his talent, but watching Kaepernick play tonight really shows how high this guy’s ceiling is. He needs more polish, but his all around talent is pretty exciting.

Wild game. Winning is always way more awesome than losing; but it’s kind of hard to know what to make of this game. We learned the 49ers can beat the Patriots, but we also learned you have to score a lot of points to beat the Patriots. Better have your scoring shoes on when you play the Pats.

congratulations niner fans, a fumbling win to reach the playoffs. Last news I had of the niners was when they switched QBs. Looks like this Nevada kid is a keeper. Looks like the D is still strong.

Kap has fumbled EIGHT times, I think they’ve been lucky and lost just one. We all know that Kap is the future but it’s been clear that the move is supposed to give us a better chance THIS year in the postseason. It doesn’t. He will make mistakes that will kill us. If Gore doesn’t get the gift TD after the 4th fumble, we probably lose. Fuck blaming the coaching- the mistake was the QB switch, Harbaugh’s game strategy is has it’s aways been.

Yup. Blame that 4-1 record on Kappy, Twin. I’m good with that.

I’ll give Alex the Ram game, but Smith doesn’t win last.
