A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Wanting To Be More Than A Wild Card

There are a lot of games that, on paper, don’t really interest me.

Tonight is not one of those games….

Game on.

what a way to start this series. Dodgers are probably starting to think about their SF Friday night whores……

They better spring for the pricey ones. Cheap Tricks played at Budakan, but cheap trix can give you more than you bargained for.

One other time earlier this year they wailed on Ryu…in LA. Scored about 6 in the first I think

I have often said, Arias at first is the best offensive decision ever.
batting around in the home half of the first is fun.

    • Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on September 12, 2014 at 7:48 pm

Edd, your true visionary hindsight on that needs to be acknowledged. Well done my man!

  4. DJLoo's avatar DJLoo said, on September 12, 2014 at 7:44 pm

Interpreter saying “you suck tonight” in Korean…

  5. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 12, 2014 at 7:45 pm

    Helluva start, helluva start!…

  6. Alleykat's avatar Alleykat said, on September 12, 2014 at 7:47 pm

    Best start possible!!!
    Raking Ryu!
Yeah send out your interpreter Bums, like that’s gonna help, one from column A,one from column B and a healthy helping of killer P’s..

  7. stickman's avatar stickman said, on September 12, 2014 at 7:52 pm

Double your pleasure, double your fun ~ double down, double down, Bumbos on the run. Amazingly, Ryu got through the inning on only 27 pitches while MadBum had to throw 17.

Kept telling people weeks and weeks ago that Panik was a keeper. When you got three .300 hitters leading off the lineup chances are close to 100% vs most pitchers that you will have a baserunner in the First.

One bad habit the Giants have had for some time is that their bats tend to let up when they have scored an early lead. These are the Doghairs tonight. NO LET UP.

  8. Alleykat's avatar Alleykat said, on September 12, 2014 at 7:53 pm

Yeah Ryu’s physically& mentally worn out by this Giants assault, and his interpreter agrees that he’s sucks noodles!!

  9. Macdog's avatar Macdog said, on September 12, 2014 at 7:55 pm

Keep ’em hanging at 2nd, Bummie.

  10. DJLoo's avatar DJLoo said, on September 12, 2014 at 7:58 pm

    See you, Ryu…

  11. Alleykat's avatar Alleykat said, on September 12, 2014 at 7:58 pm

Eat in to the Pen early, diggin that in the overall scheme of this series.

  12. willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:00 pm

    Into the pen early, nice.

I asked this a few days ago. As Salt pointed out Arias pretty hot lately, so is there room for him next year here?

  13. DJLoo's avatar DJLoo said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:02 pm

Have they abandoned the road Los Angeles uniforms?

  14. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:05 pm

I did also say that I hope Arias does well tonight, before I said all that other stuff about him. 🙂
    —–
We almost got to see Alex Guer-one-ear-o bat for the Dodgers.

  15. DJLoo's avatar DJLoo said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:06 pm

When did Pagan start sliding feet first? I wonder if he’s doing it all the time and if it’s easier on his back.
He’s actually the best head first slider I’ve ever seen.

  16. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:07 pm

I think Willie mentioned before Panik not doing well getting the runner to third in the situational AB.

  17. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:09 pm

I was out a bit, WTF happened to Ryu?..

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:10 pm

      No word yet. Possible injury.

    • DJLoo's avatar DJLoo said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:12 pm

He just boarded a kayak in McCovey Cove heading for Seoul…

    • Alleykat's avatar Alleykat said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:18 pm

      The interpreter asked Ryu..
      Who are these guys?

  18. willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:10 pm

OK that’s what I was talking about yesterday game—Pagan’s leading off, gets to 2b no outs, Panik hits ball softly in the air. GB to right side gets him to 3b. Not good baseball.

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:12 pm

Yep, kid has to really focus on hitting to the right side then…

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:12 pm

Well, the 3 doubles that followed made up for that.

  19. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:14 pm

One of my neighbors is there tonite, supposedly 5 rows in from the Giants bullpen mound. Jealous… 😉

When we’re up 4-0, it’s nice to check the spam filter and not see any posts about cum and jizz eating or cocksucking or cun*ts and whatever else the trolls can come up with when we are losing…..

  21. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:20 pm

Arias now 2 for 2. I’m going to keep dissing him, maybe he’ll hit an HR next time up.
Awright, Blanco has to move these runners…

  22. Alleykat's avatar Alleykat said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:20 pm

So are the Dogpile gonna burn 7 pitchers tonight? Fine with me..

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:21 pm

I was thinking the same thing. Go ahead and burn ’em all…

  23. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:21 pm

LOL at me. You rock, Arias.

  24. Macdog's avatar Macdog said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:21 pm

Any other teams playing this late in the year with a starting pitcher who has more HRs and as many RBI than the first baseman?

  25. willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:22 pm

The Arias shit is funny, but even yesterday bottom of order made things happen—Blanco Ishi Crawford, even Perez got in on the act.
As Miller pointed out, it was only 2-0 before Arias rolled that one into RF. Next thing you know it’s 4-0 after a walk and Craw’s rbi.

On paper, bottom of order can’t compete with LA all stars and big money guys, but they are making it happen.

  26. Macdog's avatar Macdog said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:27 pm

  28. Alleykat's avatar Alleykat said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:29 pm

Shit bases jammed, no outs, no runs, a bit painful to say the least.

    • DJLoo's avatar DJLoo said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:32 pm

Maybe it helps keep Bum focused.

  29. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:32 pm

    Ryu had “shoulder stiffness.”

  30. Alleykat's avatar Alleykat said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:32 pm

Ryu more then likely had neck stiffness jerking his head back after every hit ripped hard off of him.

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:33 pm

      🙂

      • Macdog's avatar Macdog said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:36 pm

        Or throat stiffness.

  31. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:35 pm

If Bum had hit his 3rd grandslam of the season, wouldn’t that have been about the most insane thing in the history of baseball? That would have been beyond epic.

  32. Macdog's avatar Macdog said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:37 pm

Good to see MadBum doesn’t take his ABs back out to the mound.

  33. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:41 pm

Nice curveball. Big K on VanSlyke.

  34. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:42 pm

So the most insane thing in the history of baseball remains Elster hitting 3 HRs in the opening game of AT&T Park. (Pac Bell Park in those days.)

    • DJLoo's avatar DJLoo said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:46 pm

That is definitely up there, zum…

    • Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:51 pm

      impossible to argue. Great point.

  35. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 12, 2014 at 8:54 pm

Man, the Dodgers have a .185-hitting catcher. Ellis used to be able to hit. I wonder what happened to him?

  36. Macdog's avatar Macdog said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:00 pm

That AB lasted longer than Ryu’s outing.

  37. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:00 pm

Turner’s been a tough out this season. Has an OBP of about .390.

  38. Alleykat's avatar Alleykat said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:02 pm

    Thanks Gonzalez!!

  39. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:03 pm

You could really see the difference in Puig that inning. Bum hung a slider down the middle to him, and Puig hit a groundball single. Puig was crushing that kind of pitch 420 feet earlier in the season.

  40. willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:03 pm

Love to watch Bum pound those RH inside on the hands.
Little stress there, but nice shut down game so far.

  41. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:09 pm

This pitcher seems to come pretty close to not coming to a stop with his hands…

  44. Alleykat's avatar Alleykat said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:15 pm

.Pitcher Tony Collanger’s (sp?)RBI’s 2 grand slams in one game against the Giants was pretty insane as well,
    Brandon Crawford!!!
    Smokin the HR!!

  45. Alleykat's avatar Alleykat said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:17 pm

So much for Frias owing us, as Mudbug would say..

  46. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:19 pm

I’m getting the Doghair TV feed. Vinny is in good form.
“A healthy Pagan makes the Giants a much better team”.
Succinct, accurate, objective. At 86 or whatever, he still gets it done better than just about all…

  47. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:23 pm

Sellout with 41,147 paid. That’s fewer than some of the bogus sellouts we’ve seen. WTF?…

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:26 pm

Every team can set the number of what they will consider a sell-out. It doesn’t have to match the number of seats. So, all the teams can have suspect sell-out numbers. The Giants haven’t said what their “sell-out number” is. MLB lets the teams do this.

  48. Macdog's avatar Macdog said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:23 pm

    Van SlyKe.

  49. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:24 pm

    Van Stryke.
    9 pitches. 9 strikes. 3 Ks. That’s pretty impressive.
I’d shave that skraggly ass beard, were I him…

  50. eddacker's avatar eddacker said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:29 pm

ESPN has just announced on their Sports Center: “we are about to have a one game difference in the NL West”.
    Tell MadBum he can chill.

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:32 pm

Surprised ESPN is paying attention to this game. Isn’t a Jetergasm going on somewhere?…

  51. stickman's avatar stickman said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:30 pm

Biggest differences between the two lineups is that the LaBumbos are getting most of their production from three or four key players who receive huge paychecks. Giants are more balanced. Consider the RBI night that our Scorpion, the stinger at the tail, batting 7th and more recently mostly 8th, has had. Don;t know how to research it but i would suspect that CrawDaddy, now at 62 RBI’s has one of the highest totals of any NLer consistently hitting so low in the order. AL stats would not count because of their silly Dink Hitter rule.

  52. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:33 pm

How did Pence hit that for a knock? His swing was totally discumbobulated, weight and balance totally messed up. Still punched it to RF. Nice…

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:36 pm

One of the sportswriters called him a “washing-machine in a phone booth.”

      • Alleykat's avatar Alleykat said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:43 pm

        Good analogy.
I sometimes think Pence swings like the Tasmanian Devil also..

  53. Macdog's avatar Macdog said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:38 pm

“Correia knows how to pitch in this ballpark.” Kruk must’ve missed Correia’s 4.51 career ERA at AT&T.

  54. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:39 pm

Adrian Peterson arrested for child abuse. More bad news for the NFL. Peterson whipped his 4-year old with a switch he took off a tree, and put bloody welts all over his son’s legs. The boy’s mom took him to the hospital, and the police were called.

  55. Macdog's avatar Macdog said, on September 12, 2014 at 9:43 pm

MadBum might get close to 300 Ks by the time this one’s over.
