scherzer has had a pretty dang good season so far. If you look at leader for NL pitching on B/R he is at or near top in WAR, WHIP, ERA, K/BB rate, least hits and walks given up, complete games and shutouts, etc.
He gets a ton of $$, but has put himself up there with Bum Op Greinke as premier aces of NL.
Saturday morning baseball in Saigon! Psyched. For some reason, cannot get on to MLB website or Giants site to check out GameDay, so figured I’d turn on the tube and see if by some slim chance Fox Asia might have something…. lo and behold, I am watching the Giants live and listening to Kruk and Kuip. As the immortal Ferret might say, “Woohoo!”…. Hey, it’s the little things in life….

Yes, nice, although what this will really serve to do is allow me to procrastinate further from writing a mid-term exam for my Brand Management class next week…..
Ok, sorry, Flappers. Guess I’m a jinx, I’ll turn off the TV now… :-p Man, I was completely wrong awhile back when I thought Peavy was done but Cain would be ok. Guess not.
I know you’re not a big fan of that stat category, and yeah, it’s somewhat useless, but I’m trying to think, when WAS Cain’s last *quality start*? Has he had one this year yet? Or are we going back over a year for that? Yikes….
Yep, his brand equity is WAY down. Actually, it’s gone to being non-existent. Absolutely no value to the team. Sad. Have we really lost Timmy and Matt? The two pillars of the beginning of the dynasty….
Awesome story, Lisle. Billy Harper at the Keystone Korner was the very first jazz show I ever saw. It was right after his very nice debut on Black Saint.
Dewey’s son is the biggest name to emerge from the Berkeley High School jazz program. I have most of his stuff, and was disappointed when he didn’t show up for a really big alumni event a few years ago when one of my kids was in the band. It is a truly amazing program.
Hope you and WillieD don’t mind the interjection . . . .
I wouldn’t go as far as to say Cain is “done” but he is definitely still in Spring training mode … He’s good for 60 – 70 pitches max … Another case, of leaving an SP out there too long.
I tend to overreact. I thought Peavy was shot after he gave up a grand slam to some since-released Padres backup catcher back in April, but he’s been fine since returning.
Mac, I am the emperor of over reactions and negativity as I’ve blantantly exposed y’all to here many times. I always wear black and will continue to do so until they invent an even darker color!
Yeah, huh… I thought maybe he was actually still on the team because, you know, he can actually do something…. like, throwing the ball. I liked your idea last year of pushing him out of the plane over Fresno on the way back from a road trip. Now of course it would be Sacto. I’m more in favor of the Aleutian Islands at this point.
Sandoval asked for the ball tonight when he got his 500th career RBI.
Maybe it’s just me, but that seems lame and clueless. He also asked for the ball earlier this season after his 200th career double. Glad he’s focused on what’s essential.

Duffman and Belt don’t seem impressed.
yeah Duff dropped the bat head and yanked that right out of Dodge.
Belt fought off the jam shot for a base hit, nice start.
Cain looks like he is still in ST tho.
Cain is throwing a ball with someone else’s arm. I don’t think he’s ever gonna get it back. Sometimes what you’re born with is the best you got……
Btw, Loo was not all that far off last night—bottom of order went 1-9 with KAT’s gapper triple.
Tonite you sub in OOO, so see if they can beat that.
I’m still laughing at Loo’s POTD about Thanksgiving at the Loo house…..
chalk = friend
Another bomb! Giants are crushing this guy.
Pad the lead on Max!
Duffy: The cream or the clear?
Big Matt ain’t a gettin Cained tonight.
Blanco might have hurt his wrist on that catch…
uh oh…..
Dang Pence says I’ll have some of that.
Even the ones that just went fair, all the hits tonight have been smoked.
I’m watching Scherzer throw balls right down broadway and I’m like, who IS that?
Even up 6-1, I’m not sure Matt will be able to make it through five tonight?
Lookin’ prescient so far . . . .
Damn.

I think everyone here saw that coming.
Shit, shit, shit.
Ok, sorry, Flappers. Guess I’m a jinx, I’ll turn off the TV now… :-p Man, I was completely wrong awhile back when I thought Peavy was done but Cain would be ok. Guess not.
No quality start for Cainer tonight.

Cain may need some brand management this off season, Paul 🙂

Jesus, Cain really is done.
Just shit pitching from Cain. Horrible location all over.
@willedav: I responded to your early morning post in todays first thread with a Dewey Redmond story you may find of interest.

Awesome interjections such as yours are more than welcome James! Speaking only for myself, of course!
Well with another $50 million coming to him, he’s gonna pitch…

Maybe Cain pulls a 2012 Zito-type miracle before it’s all over for him…
That could be quite feasible … by the time we hit October Cain could be running on all cylinders! … Let’s hope it is so!
Mac, I am the emperor of over reactions and negativity as I’ve blantantly exposed y’all to here many times. I always wear black and will continue to do so until they invent an even darker color!
Nice of them to take the camera off those 4 hot dog eating slobs long enough to see Blanco’s double…
Got one back. Let’s get some more.
Belt gets one of those RBIs back after his numerous hits w/ a fat ass RISP who couldn’t score.
Courtesy of Baggs … “Batters hitting .279 off Cain in first 4 innings, .419 thereafter.”
Says it all … sorta.
6-4-box seats…

MacDog is right. The loss of Panik has been devastating.
One of these days someone else besides me will say it: Sergio Romo is the best ever SF reliever. Maybe after I shut up about it.
I think I agree.
Best bunt since Aubrey Huff in 2010 WS clincher…
What does Bochy expect the umps to do, reverse a correct call?
Hell, he left Romo in the game to potentially embarrass me?!?
Bochy treating the save stat like the useless fraud it is.
And there you have it.
Great job by the pen. Saved Cain’s ass.
Somebody tell Bochy that Cain needs to go back on the DL. This contract is looking like a mess of Zito propoortions…
Cain blew a 6-0 lead earlier in the season. It may have been that brutal loss vs. Philly.
It was the Braves.
Ah, thanks, now I remember it.
Sandoval asked for the ball tonight when he got his 500th career RBI.
