World Series Champions Collide

Four of the last 7 World Series champions play this evening in Chicago. 🙂

The Cubs have been kinda fiddle-de-doin’ their way through this season. But they are too good not to snap out of this at any moment and engage in abject domination. We are throwing Blach, Cueto, Moore and Smarge at them and that actually doesn’t look that bad when I type it. The most worrisome game is tonight so if Blach can throw something *quality-ish* we might be able to give them a game.

There has been an *organic* movement on the last couple of threads to name your most hated Giants of all time. I am still still pouring over documents (and memories) to compile my list. In terms of non-Giants/non Dodgers I hate it’s pretty easy to put John Lackey on the board. He’s right up there with Curt Shithead.

No expectations for this series. I could see us losing all 4 and not being too surprised but I could also see us winning 2 games and not having my mind blown.

Speaking of things we hate, ads on KNBR are THE WORST. If you aren’t from here you won’t be able to vote with any confidence. But go ahead and vote blindly, you can’t be wrong.

The Cash Call ad features an obnoxious guy whistling away in the background while the spokesperson says “we’ll loan you money because we trust you” lol. Ok. Thanks. Suckers.

The Cars for Kids ad features kids singing the worst song ever written.

The Hanlery ad features a dude who likes to make stupid jokes and puns about visiting San Francisco. He’s trying to be funny. He has never once been funny.

All three are awful. Vote for the worst.

Cubs fans who finally came out of woodwork flaunting gear after so many years is galling, like seeing all those Red Sox hats in bay area years ago after they finally won.

Olden days of 8-10 NL teams every one of them had cool players, even Dodgers so I really didn’t dislike any of them. But Cubs of today, including mgr., bug me. Endless media buzz sucks.

You do have give the FO props for getting some many good players and making good deals.
They picked up Chapman for the homestretch then quickly reloaded when he left.
Acquiring guys like Zobrist and Heyward and the high salaried SPs were all good moves.
Russell trade was also good, total fleece of Beane.

Giants had some clueless OFs ala SDawg’s CandyMan, like Marvin Benard and Jose Cruz Jr., that bugged me too.
Relievers are easy targets, but Brantley was one I liked the least tho no comp to Benitez. Why Sabes wanted this guy after what Snow did to him idk.

I loved Candy to the point where I had a customized jersey made at a time (1987) when it was not so easy to do. The only place in town that would make the real thing was Gerry Cosby’s in the MSG lobby and it took weeks. I still remember picking it up with my stripper girlfriend Mia. When I first laid eyes on it I literally wept tears of joy. It bothers me every day of my life that I somehow misplaced it a few years ago. It’s got to be somewhere…

Cars for Kids is absolutely the worst but the Dolan law firm headed by the f-wad that is messing with nuns and homeless near his $6 mil pad in Marin has to go. Giants embarrass themselves by taking money from this guy who stoops low enough to use his kids in the promos for his personal injury biz . And it is on their radio broadcasts every f-ing night.

If the Kars for Kids ad comes on, I literally switch the station temporarily, regardless of the station it plays on, and KNBR is only one of many it’s on. If you google it, that outfit is a scam, lots of chatter on it. KNBR wil run just about any smarmy/ shady ad, since that right wing owned disaster of a company Cumulus owns it. Cumulus took over KGO and turned the #1 rated Bay Area station for 40 years into a ratings dumpster fire in 2 years…

Kars for Kids is the most annoying by far. I didn’t see the video but I’ve heard a lot about the Posey/Belt kerfuffle over the weekend. Krukow poo-pooed the whole thing without totally flaming Belt which leads me to believe Posey was in the wrong. With two out in the bottom of the 13th and a left handed hitter up, closing the hole on the right side isn’t the worst play. Doesn’t Wotus position the infield anyway? I get the sense that Belt is like Donnie in The Big Lebowski and no matter what he does, everyone just tells him to shut the fuck up.

The insidious thing about Kars for Kids is that it knows that people will think it’s a non-profit, and it’s NOT. Sure, nothing in the commercial overtly says it’s a non-profit, but it’s the impression the listener will get. The kind of “white lie” that I hate in advertising.

I get the KNBR ads when listening to the games on the MLB app. As annoying as the cars 4 kids ad is, I got to go with that piece of shit Hanlery guy. He’s the fucker that closed down Lefty’s.

Speaking of KNBR ads, my oldest son’s middle name is Craigen. I partially named him that because my dad’s name is Craig (like our esteemed host) but also because it made me think of the Kragen Auto parts grand slam inning promo they used to run. I wanted his middle name to have a connection to my dad and the Giants, and that is what I came up with. You guys might be the only ones in the world to get that.

I used to get my daughter to sing along with the Kars for Kids ad whenever it was played on the radio. Now, of course, she screams if she even hears the opening bars. And the annoying TV ad — how long has that been running? Those kids are probably done with high school by now.

Kars for kids may not be a non profit but it is still a tax writeoff. I gave my 85 Jetta to them in 2004. It failed Smog For the first time In its illustrious history and had 20 other problems that were too $$$ to fix. Got an $1100 write off.

Still hate the damn song tho. I eitttr. Hangs the station or cut the vol.
