A Wild Beginning
The wild card game is the best thing to happen to baseball since….the wild card team? I’d argue yes. We kick off the post season with 2 game 7’s—finality in sports is a very powerful thing. I like the way pitchers are used. Berrios relieving Santana? Sure, why not. It tests the mental strength of all involved and post season heroes are literally born on Day 1. I don’t know how you can beat that.
Who will be this season’s “Conor Gillaspie?” We’re about to find out.
Won’t be Twins slugger Miguel Sano doing a Conor moment, left off the roster with shin issues. Yanks take it even easily now..
Sano hasn’t been playing for a month he wasn’t expected to do much anyway. The Twins have some hitters on their team. Rosario, Escobar, Polanco, Doz, those guys are free swingers who can rope it.
I may go “tits out” for this game…
I may go tits up . . .
“gillaspie moment”, very cool. Really was an awesome thing, with Loo there representing
One of those highlights you could watch over and over.
just watched couple different versions on y/t. Announcer pretty understated. Anyone listening on radio at the time? didn’t Giants have everyone in the booth at same time? If it was Kuiper calling it he must have gone off.
Story in Chron today about Posey calling out the troops. “hopefully everyone will take a little time to decompress, get away and spend that time thinking about what they can do to help the giants win more ballgames next year, come back with the hunger to get us back to where we want to be.”
Little later on, Schulman points out Posey hit as many HRs as Span did this year.
Best baseball moment I ever had in person.
Probably taking Flavor’s advice and never go to another game again.
How can I top that?
Interesting question tweeted to pavlovic–do Giants have to buy out Cain for $7.5M since he retired. I thought pavlovics answer was hypertechnical. Obviously they struck a deal.
3-0 in the first inning. lol. Go Twins!
Listening to this broad call this game is painful. Santana seriously struggling.
I just want to see Molitor get the win.
So, how many of you out there will make it through what looks like a typical Yankees 4 1/2-hour playoff game?
Not me. But I’ll watch half of it
4-4 This is a good game. I’ll TIVO and maybe come back.
5-4 Yanks
Anybody see a resemblance between Molitor and this guy?
If he only had a pitcher.
BF, I agree the W.C. playoffs are a brilliant idea. Do or die! This is the modern day “at the Coliseum”. Great TV!
Here’s THE trade: Bumgarner for two of the three Minnesota CF’s they were talking about and a “B” pitcher.
Bumgarner would have beat the Yankees tonight.
Not with the Giants lineup he wouldn’t.
The above brilliant trade was brought to you courtesy of OSF.
Mauer making $23M might be the biggest heist since Lufthansa.
That’s Posey very soon
naw, Posey’s going to stay on track for the HOF. 400 OB, great arm, for 10 more years
he hit one home run since July 15th.
When the Twin CF made the great catch earlier, not one of the ESPN idiots remarked on how hard he hit the wall and the obvious pain he was in. NOT A PEEP!!!
Now that he’s out of the game they suddenly have a hunch what might’ve happened…
“The loser goes home; the winner goes to Cleveland”
OOO gets an AB.
Ks.
Spike Lee sure does crave the front row camera look
