Swaggy J?
I still can’t get over that Jordan Bell dunk. Playing in garbage time in his 4th NBA game, he decides to hold a “lone wolf” dunk contest. This brings up the same questions as the bat flips. There’s always going to be the old school crowd who do a slow burn about stuff like this. Of course, the play made it to #1 on the NBA.com list of “plays of the night.” So there is an appetite for this stuff…..
Big baseball game tonight……
As impressive as it was you don’t do that up 30 in garbage time.Kerr let him know it after apologizing to the coach..
better story imo is Curry taking the time to play golf with Obama (third time they’ve partnered up), hosted at Speith’s course in Dallas. Hmmnn, maybe something brewing there.
Hey it’s one basket in a game where GS put up 130. I dug Livingston’s post ups over Barea and Young’s 3s off screen by McGee myself. Might be Bell’s career highlight. Warriors core ain’t gonna last forever–hope this draft works out better than last couple. I can’t stand McCaw, and Looney and Jones are useless.
I like Bell’s story. He’s a kid who overcame some pretty serious behavioral issues and made it to the NBA. I’m rooting for him…..
loved his college game, Boucher too. Different world, curious about his skill set at this level.
Maybe it’s just me, but I’d much rather watch an MLB vid of top 10 baseball plays, any day of the week….. Dunks? Boring. They should raise the basket a couple of feet, like when baseball lowered the pitcher’s mounds….
Basketball definitely doesn’t play to the older crowd. This won’t even cause a murmur of concern among the players.
As far as their drafts go, it’s hard to get top-flight talent drafting at 30. Bell may be the best guy they’ve drafted since Draymond in 2012
Spurs have couple kids they play a lot, Kyle Anderson from UCLA and Dejounte Murray (who starts) from U W.
Bell looks like energetic defender who can rebound and run the floor, code words for he can’t shoot or handle the ball. Maybe he’s the next Mr. Mean…used to love seeing all the hard hats up top in Coliseum.
Hey, Charlie, who you callin’ old? You’re the one, right?, who thought my American Motors Hornet was an Ambassador… 🙂
Sorry, that won’t make sense to anyone who didn’t see a Facebook exchange…
Hah hah! Forgot about the Hornet. The Ambassador was the full sized bomber . . . at least it wasn’t a Gremlin!
Kruk this morning told KNBR it was really Righetti and Gardner that wanted new roles; too much travel over the years. Kruk is apparently doing stand up comedy now.
Evans now on KNBR basically explaining how he loves Righetti and how great a coach he is, but is somehow magically not the pitching coach any more and now has a broader voice in team management. What a bunch of hooey…
If we’re gonna clean house, how about “reassigning” Kruk and Kuip? I’d be all for that.
if I could throw a basketball off the backboard and slam it home I’d do it every time I got the chance.
I’d rather win an ALCS complete game and have my girlfriend Kate Upton congratulate me in her own special way…
my girlfriend is Katie, not Kate, and she congratulates me for just showing up
Sounds good, pawlie.
Very Woody Allenesque…
Funny you say that, snarkk. True, she is ‘mad’ younger but not a stepdaughter. If she don’t mind, I don’t either.
Well, I didn’t quite mean it that way, but that’s cool. Woody said once that life is 80% “just showing up”…
The Kings finally woke up in that game last night, and ended up only losing by 2 points. They even had a shot at the end that would have won the game, but it hit the front rim and deflected away. Getting over the hump to actually WINNING is such a big hump in sports.
Kruk and Kuip will be there as long as they want the job.
The book “Last of the Innocents” talks about how much the Dodgers valued Scully’s broadcasting as a selling point for the team. A broadcaster has an impact on the marketing of teams.
K&K are especially effective at doing schtick about the people in the crowd. People like the comedy, and women in particular. They love the shots of moms and dads wiping food off kids’ faces and all that. A lot of women watch Giants broadcasts.
Agree. Their style plays to people who really don’t follow baseball closely, like crowd shot humor, won’t question Kruks bullshit umpire scouting reports or dronings on about “backspin” or Kuip’s overall lack of preparation
What’s more fun late in an NBA blowout– garbage time 3s klanking off the rim, or a dude doing an off the backboard self- assist dunk? I thought it was cool. It he does the baseball equivalent, whatever that is, some idiot pitcher takes his head off the next AB…
Let’s face it, The Scrubs are becoming a very unlikable team outside of their fan base. The dunk was a classless move, Curry throws his mouthpiece at people like a spoiled child whenever things don’t go his way, Draymond often acts like a jerk, and they are the biggest powerhouse in all of sports—pretty much assured to win a handful of titles with little resistance.
Reminds me of what we used to say about Barry. Yeah he’s an asshole, but he’s our asshole.
Sacrilege San Dog!!! I am with Flav, ifbI can do that move, I’d do it or try every time down the floor…ok at least on every breakway…Go Dubs…Go Stros…
look, Steph is like the most likable sports star in the world these days. He lives life right, he cares about people, he’s a fantastic teammate….so what if he threw his mouthpiece, people are freaking out, it’s not like the ref was in any danger of getting hurt. He’s sick of never getting any calls, it’s a fucking travesty how the refs ref him in games. NO SUPERSTAR gets less calls than Steph. He’s not going to throw his mouth piece again, he’s been clear about that. Now he can get back to being one of the best role models ANYWHERE in all of sports. I defy you to show me a better one…….
I’ll always have a soft spot for “The Groper”…
He’s freaking out? THe NBA fined him $50,000 for that move. Strangling a ref would be about the same fine.
Unlikable? Getting KD sealed that deal.
Stros in 6…bball is a lot less old school than baseball…
Ok, can the Astros pretty please, with fucking sugar on top, win this game tonight????
And I like to go on the record it is a mistake for the Stros to start Keuchel…probably going to lose Game 1 to Kershaw. Save him for Game 2 and then you have Keuchel-Verlander set up for Games 6 and 7 in LA if needed…
Chris Taylor is basically their “Andres Torres.”
With a shitload more power..
Taylor comes off the scrap heap up in Seattle and instantly turns it around.
Dogpile scores a goldnugget, and we have fools gold Span..
Torres in 2010: 16 bombs. I think Taylor hit 20 this year. Both came out of nowhere. Both probably juiced.
“I’ll always have a soft spot for the Groper”
Me too Loo!
He puts new meaning to “Gurney Grouper”
Fuck yeah. Let’s go.
Bregman!
A #2 pick by the way. Giants pay attention.
Bregman’s gonna be a star in this league Book it!
Boom, baby! I think saving Verlander for tomorrow is genius. If the ‘Stros steal this game, they could very easily win 2 on the road.
Watching these 2 teams only ticks me off more on how the fuck the Giants will ever be relevant again!
And if their only moves is shuffling the deck chairs on the titanic, and sticking with Span&Pence,Williamson, Parker,Moncrief?,Gorkys who as scary as it sounds might be their best OF as a Fuckin 4-5 outfielder, Stuck with Pence&Span unless you somehow get a GM drunk enough and supply him with hookers, and then get some juicy photos ready to be sent to his wife you might get a deal done but meh…
Springer has looked completely lost this entire PS.
It’s so hard to not like Chris Taylor with his walk up song being “Copperhead Road.”
Fuck
Battle of the big beards goes to Turner over Kuechel that AB..
HRs. It’s what baseball is all about now.
It’s quaint reading about the emphasis baseball used to have on stolen bases.
Yanking Kershaw at 83 pitches is asinine after 7 innings. I don’t care who’s in the fuckin’ pen. Would love to know what Koufax in the stands is thinking…
John Smoltz’ commentary as it relates to pitching is always spot on. The dude would make a great pitching coach. Hmmm, I wish I knew of an opening?
So they promoted Bam Bam and demoted Wotus? That will sit well.
Can’t wait to hear Flan’s next tweet.
Speaking of rearranging the deck chairs. They have nice cushions, too!
So far, so meh. If they are trying to piss off Bochy, I’m sure this is working.
These Giant moves are really alienating me…
Not surprised at all about Nevin.
He was a Bochy player, and needed a rebound spot, so Bochy gave him one. Didn’t work.
I don’t see the point of Wotus and Meulens playing musical coaching positions.
They stay, but the pitching coaches go? Is it Rags’ fault that Strick is a musclehead?
Wotus must be getting the point he’s not going to be the next Giants manager…
Springer sucks.
ZZZZzzzzzzzz. Come on.
Houston didn’t fare well the other time they were in the World Series, in ’05.
Hey, at least it was a quick game? There’s always that.
Long way to go and if they break even tomorrow look out. Are you looking into going to one?
I still have a hard time believing Sabean is not keeping Bochy in the loop with these moves. He’s got to be involved in this. That would just be the absolute shits for them to be passively aggressively trying to make his life miserable so he quits. Not exactly “the Giants way”. Guess we’ll see at some point….
Left off the World Series roster, Adrian Gonzales, instead of staying with his team anyway (like Zito did in 2010), has taken his family to Europe for a vacation. It pretty much confirms what we always thought about him. No wonder the Red Sox got rid of him.
No way Bochy is not involved in all this…
Yep.
Shea, before the announcements were finalized, said Meulens should be next mgr. Maybe this was Evans idea too. He’s got 2 yrs (or less) as Bochy’s bench coach then takes over.
Girardi situation still open with Yanks?
I wasn’t able to post during the game, but how the hell does Phil Cuzzi, maybe the worst umpire after Angel Hernandez, get the assignment as the home plate ump in Game 1 of the World Series? Cuzzi shouldn’t be allowed to buy a ticket from a scalper for the World Series, let alone call balls and strikes. So here was Houston’s best chance after the HR, Altuve follows with a walk — oh wait, fuckin’ incompetent Scuzzi calls it strike 3. Who knows how Kershaw, who wilts under the slightest bit of playoff pressure, would’ve handled that.
Why is Meuelens being considered the heir apparent next manager over any other insiders?…
He did such an awesome job with the Giants hitters.
Meulens? Really? That makes zero sense. Where’s Steve Decker? Christ, Mark Gardner makes more sense. Not that I’d especially like that move, but I think it makes more sense than Bam Bam. I guess he managed in Curaçao?
