If I can work in the rain they can play ball don’t be pussies..
Just said on knbr that a gm hasn’t been postponed at ATT since ’06. Could that be right?
Don’t follow hockey closely but the story out of Vancouver last night very cool. Last home ice after 18 years for Sedin brothers who had earlier announced retirement and in OT one sets up the other for the game winning goal.
So after all the celebrating ends, they take one last skate around the rink and the AZ Coyotes (another team not going to playoffs) all stick around and shake hands with them.
Very classy, respect for the players and respect for the game.
Off topic. So busy with taking care of issues in Colorado and focusing on baseball, that I had zero clue about Jon Gruden signing with the Raiders as head coach and co-owner. I like him a lot and hope he’s successful with the Raiders (albeit, in my opinion the Raiders have been mostly a joke since the early 2000s). However, I just read this column about what the author perceives as questionable moves. Thoughts?

I read this, too. The comparison on money between Crabtree (7mil) and two-year deal for Nelson certainly could be pause for debate. I don’t hate the Raiders and root for them as long as they are not playing the Niners, but really don’t have any skin in the game….could care less what they do. Will be interesting to see what Gruden can do. More great coaches who tried to come back have failed than have succeeded in their return to the game.
I am super excited to see what the Niners do in the draft. This is most excited I have been about the NFL/Niners in a long time.
MCC site does have full minors LU for opening day yesterday.
For Sac, first 4 hitters are Duggar slater Shaw and Mac (DH). Suarez the SP.
Ramos is leadoff for Augusta and the kid Blade mentioned is in San Jose.
Beede also to pitch for SJ…gotta wonder if he’s coming up next week during 10 consecutive game stretch.
I don’t bother reading Brisbee but this is at least good way to check up on farm.
Agree Willie about Brisbee. I use to somewhat like him, but his writing style wears you down. He’s always equivocating, e.g., he actually said, “The Giants are the new Phillies.” Than he’ll spend the entire column going back and forth on that point, with a lot of “oh yeah, but . . . ” In short, he tries to please everyone and stands for jack shit, while trying to be funny (he isn’t).
he’s better on twitter. Short, quick funny hits.
I agree with all those takes on Brisbee, although I have been amused by some of his posts. He can get tiresome, though.
The comments section on McC Chronicles is not great.
Seems like lots of fans there are relatively recent Giants fans.
I have nothing against millenials, but it just makes for a different kind of forum.
All just my opinion. 🙂
I rarely access my Twitter account, so dunno. You’re right Zumiee about the comments being inane or worse. The other amazing thing is how many comments he receives – an unbelievable amount. For example, in today’s column, he already has some 130 comments . . . That amount will double, triple or even quadruple by the end of this week.
One time I counted 40 of the comments being about what people had for dinner. I kid you not.
I’m all for dinner comments, but 40?
I had chicken for dinner last night, by the way. 🙂
Me too . . . At PF Changs.
The guy I am most interested in following this year (Giant minor leaguers) is Ramos in Augusta. Has potential to be a solid five-tool OFer, based on what I have seen and read about the kid. I think he is only 18 years old.
Ooops.
that’s hilarious. How could that possibly get past so many editors?
More layoffs of late to an already bare-bones staff is probably one reason why.
Giants may be better off playing LA now in as many games as possible without Turner. Rainouts postponed til later in season when he’s back are a negative…
well, you could also argue that pushing out a game or two into the Summer, once MadBUm and Smargerine come back, could benefit the Giants more than the Dodgers with Turner back
Speaking of the Sherpas and moisture, more than likely a “snow out” today at Coors with the Braves in town. They’ve probably been warned not to go snow boarding . . . and moto cross too.
Just saw this article while perusing the news. “Most and Least Expensive Stadiums for MLB Fans to Watch a Ballgame.”
#15 our beloved phone park. Part of the breakdown is two beers for $15. What?! Where??? I am not aware of a stand there where you can get ONE beer for under $10!
https://www.gobankingrates.com/saving-money/least-most-expensive-baseball-stadiums-watch-game/
Ha! (Btw, I owe you one)
I don’t mind a rainout. It’s another day the Dodgers have to sit behind us in the standings. 🙂
Cleveland had 2 beers $8 bucks & 2 hotdogs $6 bucks?? Is this guy on crack??
No shit, Kat. And the beers in Scottsdale were as expensive, If not more expensive than at the phone park. And let’s not even discuss ST ticket prices…
“A flood watch as been issued by the NSW, which will last until Saturday morning. Meanwhile rain has snarled traffic. In San Francisco, Sixth Street “under 6 to 8 inches of water,” according to SFGate. There is also reporting of minor flooding on the 101 in North Marin.”
New South Wales?
New definition of getting plowed over..

Weather is a home field advantage for West Coast teams and domed stadiums. Fewer rainouts and cooler climates help the pitching staffs. Six rainouts in 18 seasons, the East Coast teams get that many a month, and if the games are played, it’s in energy sapping humidity.
Giants announce postponement, game to be made up April 28 as a split doubleheader. Also, tomorrow’s game pushed back from 1 to 3 p.m. start.
shit i called that 5 hours ago, what took them so long?
Thanks for the inside info on a possible snowout in Denver. I am going to get in on a DK early 2 game slate and take all my hitters from the KC-Cle game and hope everyone else gets fucked on the snowout.
Even when drafting a team for the entire season, the weather is an increasingly important factor, especially for pitchers. If I were playing Draft King, think I’d just take the Astros starting lineup.
it doesn’t work that way. Each player has a certain price and you have to fit your team under a salary cap. There’s no way you’d fit all the Astros hitters on a team, most of them are very expensive.
Can’t go wrong with that..
Talent wise they have every Giant starter beat except Posey catching.
I had to take one player from the ColoradoATL game so I took the Rockies starting pitcher. The thought being that one of the two starters in the other game gets negative points so getting 0 points is better than no points. His ownership is 50%, so yeah a lot of people will get screwed if the game get cancelled. Keep your snow dance going Blade!
That was still a great strategy regardless of the outcome. Nice play it just didn’t work out. 80% of dfs is trying to steer clear of the herd
Delayed right now Joe . . . It stopped snowing where I am (about 10 minutes from the ball park via car). However, it still looks shitty outside. Also, the snow usually goes West to East here (i.e., towards Coors), so they still might be getting pounded.
looks like they’re going to give it a go
Fuck. My strategy has been paying off so far.
Double fuck. Braves put up a four spot in the top of the 1st.
Blade, all hiring Jon Gruden does is get the spotlight off of Prince Not-So-Valiant Mark Davis. Davis may be an asshole but he ain’t no fool.
Gruden’s a fan favorite, and for a season anyway, the fans will forget that the team is boogieing in 2 years. He may crash and burn, but I think he’ll get more out of the team than Del Rio did. The west is wide open with Denver and KC trying out their new QBs. And SD is SD. Uh, SD is LA. But they are hot and cold running inconsistent.
The Raiders will only go as far as their (porous) defense allows them to.
Thanks Chuck and Chi . . . By the by, 2nd coldest game in MLB history at Coors today (27 degrees). Other game was also at Coors – a chilly 23 degrees in 2013.
Cecil Taylor died. (“Logic is the lowest form of magic.” Etc.)
I’m not in The City, about 40 miles south, but the rain stopped a couple of hours ago. Seems like they coulda played this one.
this is fucking incredible. Since 1936 he’s been an usher? WHHHAAATTTT?
http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/23055073/pittsburgh-pirates-99-year-old-usher-phil-coyne-retires-81-seasons
The box seat ushers at Shea were a bunch of grouchy money grabbing scumbags who never gave up their jobs. I was getting dirty looks from the same pricks from 1964 to 2008…
how much money was there to grab? What’s an usher make? That job has always looked like shit to me.
Bribes mostly – and whatever they could get out of you for wiping your seat with a dirty towel.
These guys were well into their 80’s at the end. Nasty motherfuckers and kid haters…
I’ll bet he knows Carmelo Martinez.
It was absolutely pouring at 5:30 in SF. Monsoon-like. Bart was a major fuck-a-row. Nothing like you and 500 of your closest strangers wet and packed together in a fucking bart car.
https://www.yahoo.com/sports/down-farm-beede-throws-one-160923307.html
I guess this is good, but wouldn’t it be real news if, at this point in his career and hype, he was NOT dominating an A ball club for 5 innings?…
Anybody have a clue WTF all this Connor McGregor melee/riot thing in Brooklyn was about? I’m no MMA fan at all, so I don’t get it. The guy just pulled in $50+ million or whatever from that fight with Mayweather, so now he’s leading a bunch of thugs in some sort of group assault? What a great “sport”…
I haven’t looked into it closely, but at first glance it smells like a publicity stunt to me—and a good one at that.
