A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

One Down, 3 To Go

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 28, 2018

“Walker Buehler” may be one of the dumbest, most awkward-to-say white guy names of all time. Especially for a pitcher.

But there’s no doubt he’s got the stuff. A k-machine who will mow through many of our over anxious free swingers. I’d like to think we are going to take some walks but we don’t take walks anymore.

Not really worried about the bullpen getting burned up (what a job by them, eh?) last night. That’s really more of a concern for tomorrow if they get used heavily today in either of these games. But for today? Nah. Run ’em out there.

If Stratton shows up with a new-baby hangover, I’m guessing Cueto is planning on throwing a complete game tonight and it’s going to be fun to watch him try to do it.

Y Grandal has become guy I love to most seriously dislike.

Exhibit A–the look after he got ATTed. Yo, yard helps your pitchers too, esp on one Longo crushed after Ryu left. How’d you like to play 81 games here? And btw it’s 309 down the line.

Exhibit B–the wild pitch bounced, then hit your glove and bounced away. You take the glove off and shake your fingers then the trainer comes out. A real C never takes the glove off or allows the trainer more than 1 step.

Exhibit C–the sneer at Strick after called strike on second straight change, like he’s some pussy for not throwing you a fastball and then beatched after striking out to end it.. You called 5 innings of puro slop from Ryu and got full benefit of the low strike too. Swing the bat.

POTD is an instant classic. Um, no blonde jokes since I wait on bunch of them at work but who is the gal responsible?

Kinda hoping for encore of best of Rooster at dinner posts…tho this weekend could still turn ugly.

Funny look on Roberts face when Baez face planted. idk but he doesn’t seem like much of upgrade over 2 trips Mattingly, whose team of questionable ML level talent walked into Latrine and won 2 of 3 and beat Opie.

The speedy wide receiver/kick returner Niners drafted Dante Pettis is Gary Pettis son. Pettis is Stros 3b and OF coach and pride of Castlemont HS in Oaktown. Owns 5 gold gloves and was great base stealer.
Saw his son dominate the Pac 12 for UW, 9 TDs off punt returns.

Taking the boys to the Astros-A’s game today. Just snagged three seats on StubHub for $75 a piece. First row down the third base line, nearly exactly where that Giants fan interfered with the ball last night at AT&T.

yet another example of the Giants letting a guy finish playing a game even though he had a head injury. It’s just such a half assed way to run a professional team. Just because a guy doesn’t show immediate symptoms after a head injury DOES NOT mean he doesn’t have a head injury. This is like the 4th time they’ve done this in the last 2 years.
They saw he hit his head. He hit it hard. Take the motherfucker out of the game. I don’t care if he hit a bomb later in the game. The Giants are playing with careers here by letting players continue to play after they have CLEARLY had their head ram into something….

One of the beat writers tweeted that Mac’s DL assignment is retroactive to last week so he could return Wed. His real injury could be something other than concussion; they could be using the short CDL as a tactic in the crazy roster shifting they need now. Speaking of deceptive utility, how do you think mlb is going to deal with the sudden rash of trainer-manager visits to the pitcher–a pretty obvious ploy to avoid getting dinged with a mound visit, imo. (In the Def. of “mound visit”: “visits to the mound to clean cleats in rainy weather, to check on a potential injury or after the announcement of an offensive substitution are excepted.”)

Stratton obviously had nada after returning from the paternity thing. Couldn’t the Giants have pushed his start to tomorrow, given him another day to get back in routine after a trip back and forth to friggin Mississippi? I think the FO is partially to blame for this disaster. He didn’t absolutely have to start today. The players bargain in the CBO for paternity leave, they’re going to use it, so get smart about scheduling around it…
