Saturday Sucked
Now we finally got the answer to “Why did the Twins let Young Pudge go?” Even with his horribleness, we could have won the game with a little more hitting. Is Nick Hundley the best back up catcher in baseball? He has been one of our MVP’s this year.
Today could get ugly but I thought the same thing the night we faced Stras so who knows…..
my spam filter was funny this morning….

Kawakami on the LeBron idea floated yesterday at the Flap:
“It’s very, very difficult to come up with a realistic scenario for LeBron actually landing with the Warriors, who don’t have any cap room and are unlikely to start dumping any of their main guys just to clear space for him. This is not the same as chasing Durant in 2016; but LeBron admires the Warriors, the Warriors admire LeBron, and neither side minds teasing and taunting the rest of the league with the barest glimmer of a chance that he might join up with the dynasty.”
We have a narcissist in the White House, no need for one on the Dubs roster…
i’d take him for a year or two…..
If LeBron went to Dubs or Rockets, then they’d need to play with two basketballs. LeBron to Houston would make sense if they did not re-sign Chris Paul…
First time I heard the “two basketballs” line was when the Knicks got Earl Monroe to play with Clyde Frazier…
Giants offense almost across the board is encouraging, and not even with Belt. Gotta luv this Hanson kid, hope he is not a flash in the pan. Panda = possible feel good story of the season. If the young starters were worth a darn yet, this could get interesting. Cutch still a disappointment. DFA Actionless, so that roster spot is actually useful…
some good details about the complexities of acquiring a player like Lebron
https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/rockets/article/LeBron-James-eyes-future-include-Rockets-12981280.php?utm_campaign=twitter-premium&utm_source=CMS%20Sharing%20Button&utm_medium=social
Sorry the ponies didn’t cooperate, Flav. So, how do you prepare your spam? Fried with eggs?
KD got a ration of S from all over for leaving OKC for Dubs, as a free agent. Compare to Kyrie, who forced a trade to get out out of Cavs to go to strengthen rival Cavs, I’ve not seen much criticism of him for that, but that move totally screwed Cavs chances. I don’t get the media and overall passes he got for that, while KD gets skewered as a FA…
The narrative became “LeBron is difficult to play with, and Kyrie couldn’t take the mental abuse anymore.” I don’t know if all of that is true, but that’s why people were so sympathetic to Kyrie.
It could be argued that Westbrook is just as unpleasant to have as a teammate, and Durant couldn’t take it anymore.
Interesting article on analytics and the Dubs…
Giants kid SPs are going to have to learn how to pitch on the road. SF has best record in the NL at home (!) 19-11 and one of worst on the road, down there with dregs Reds and Marlins.
Full house seems a little exuberant. couple low pairs might be closer to reality.
Hey they’ve lit up Stras and gio…get outa town intact with no one else hurt and go feast on Jeter and 2 Trips roster for 4.
Thx Snarkk for the NYT link, fascinating.
I think M Jax is right, GS should be even better next year–drop some dead weight and improve the bench, maybe get more out of Bell D Jones or Boucher from G-league and add a legit shooter/scorer they can bring in with Livingston and Iguodala as subs.
Still dislike the one and dones. Porter Bagley Ayton TYoung would be OK vs. guys their age (a year out of HS) and all the others that age now in NBA but no. Stay in school, grow up mature mentally and physically, and work on your game. Better for the players and quality of ball in NBA too.
Don’t be stubborn, Flavor.
Give Sarah a call.
I have a good feeling about her…
she seems a little needy
Screw the Giants, this sounds way more interesting…
Hahaha . . . Spam folder equals pc virus just waiting to happen. The good news is that it pales in comparison to the HIV one. 🙂
I have not seen anything, but is Gorks hurt (maybe from the pitch he took to the ribs). Seriously, why the fuck else would Actionless get another start!?
1. Joe Panik (L) 2B
2. Buster Posey (R) C
3. Pablo Sandoval (S) 1B
4. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
5. Evan Longoria (R) 3B
6. Hunter Pence (R) LF
7. Mac Williamson (R) RF
8. Austin Jackson (R) CF
9. Derek Holland (S) P
Bochy said guys that have been playing a lot will all get day off including cutch. This is first 3 of 17 day stretch of no days off. After today 4 in Miami, 3 in LA at Latrine, home for 3 more with Marlins and 4 with !@$%& f-ing Padres.
Its Bochy’s typical white flag getaway lineup..Giving Missing in Action Jackson a crumb says it all…
Well Cutch is really the only healthy regular taking a rest today.
Gorks was in a lotta pain yesterday…
They have to throw A Jackson a bone once in a while to justify his checks.
Platoon for him means he gets a start every two weeks.
1/3 of the season in, he’s been a bust.
FO got rid of Span, picked up a guy that is even worse…
Seem like only are healthy players are the ones that suck..
Charles Johnson is such a tight-ass. Richest mofo in baseball and he refuses to eat actionless’ salary. Man-up daddy warbucks….
I heard Justify turned down Trump’s invitation to the White House . . . Horse said, “If I wanted to see a horse’s ass, I would have come in 2nd in at Belmont.” Hardy har har . . . 🙂 *
*DZ shared that with me.
Just heard that the Giants passed Gearrin through waivers last week.
No takers.
No surprises.
Wouldn’t they have to DFA him to do that?
Yes. They did. He cleared waivers. They were hoping someone would take him, and his salary, off their hands.
The Giants placed reliever Cory Gearrin on outright waivers last week, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports (video link). No one claimed Gearrin, however, and he remains a member of the Giants. The luxury-tax threshold helped influence the decision to waive Gearrin, per Rosenthal, who points out that San Francisco is $2MM-plus above the $197MM figure. Had someone taken Gearrin off the Giants’ hands, it would have saved the team upward of $1MM and helped give it more flexibility as the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline approaches. It’s no surprise the 32-year-old Gearrin went unclaimed, though, given that he has recorded a 5.11 ERA over 24 2/3 innings with unappealing walk, groundball and home run rates (4.74 BB/9, 34.2 GB percentage, 1.82 HR/9).
Jackson is truly a wasted roster spot. The Giants don’t need to have 5 outfielders on the roster, especially if he’s the 5th.
I’m at the point where I need to drink a 5th when I see MIAJ in the LU..
Giants must be hoping he’ll turn it around at least to some semblance of respectability by the AS break. If not, I see no reason to keep the guy longer. Slater could be brought up and certainly would do no worse at the plate, and he’s got a far better glove. DFA Jackson and sub in Slater would have no material impact on the budget; you get a better player for very little more $ on the budget…
Slater are Duggar works for me.Eitjer one’s a upgrade over MIAJ..
I’m stoked that a Giant made an out via grounder instead of a K…
Now that’s the tighter defense I expect to see from Longo! Super stab on a wicked hop to get the force..
CrawDinger!
That’s the only way to score off Scherzer !
Craw bomb!
wow stay hot. Holland got a lead to work with.
That had the great sound off of Craw’s bat.
Wow that was a BOMB by Crawford upper deck baby!! Eat shit Scherzer, maybe get 2 real eyes 👀 chump..
Those eyes still freak me out a little.
He looks like something you’d aim at in a carnival booth…
Another MudBug Bomb!
Some action from Jackson! Even the broadcasters were shocked.
A double — now he’s sure to be around ’til at least the AS break…
Not getting the bunt down killed that inning.
Jackson leadoff double wasted, usually it’s the other way around.
check this out. This is of little solace to me now but at least it explains why Noble Indy didn’t go to the lead.
“Repole was also frustrated with jockey Javier Castellano, who rode Noble Indy for him and WinStar Farm; the latter also co-owns Justify. Repole said he and Todd Pletcher, the trainer of Noble Indy and Vino Rosso, instructed Castellano to make the lead.
Castellano said his horse broke slowly and hit the side of the gate. He said he tried to get the horse forwardly placed, but soon realized he wasn’t going to be able to get ahead of Justify.
“He wanted me to be on the lead, but I didn’t have enough speed to get to the lead,” Castellano said. “I made an effort, but I got to the point where I had to give up. How far can I go – 10 wide – and try to go to the lead? I can’t.”
Pletcher, the trainer of Noble Indy, confirmed that the plan was to have that horse in a forward position early.
“Javier opted to go to his plan B,” Pletcher said. “Mike and I didn’t discuss a plan B.”
Repole said Castellano will likely not ride for him for the near future.
“You get to run in this race one time in your life, you would expect to follow directions,” Repole said. “He chose an audible, that doesn’t sit well with me. It’ll be awhile before you see Javier in the blue and orange silks.””
I would put much more stock in the opinion of a world class rider like Castellano than that of a fat slob from Queens who got lucky with Vitamin water. Repole makes me sick…
i’m just pissed off because the directions from Pletcher was EXACTLY how I handicapped the race. But he didn’t follow the directions (his reason is good enough for me but it just pisses me off because had Justify been pushed we might have had a different outcome yesterday)
If you’re stupid enough to try to steal third in that situation, why not send the back runner as well?
Craw just friggin’ en fuego…
Crawford on 🔥!!
Just needs that tough triple for the cycle..
What an amazing turnaround for Craw. He looked so bad at the plate the first month of the season.
Crawford is absolutely unconscious.
Gotta be your starting All-Star shortstop.
He’s actually an MVP candidate at the moment.
Where did this come from?
i was just looking at his career stats: .257 lifetime. .335 today. That’s crazy
Time for Pence to hit one hard where they ain’t…
Or, just K swinging as usual on a crap slider way down and outside. Looks like that new swing hasn’t stopped old habits…
And not just the hitting, Craw’s defense has been even better than usual.
And now like Flem said :He’s a legit MVP candidate..
Hunter is probably still a wasted roster spot, too. Only their contracts are keeping Pence and Jackson on the roster.
Craw and Panda the offense today.
Harper big-time dogged it to firstbase.
Twin gave Crawford a ton of shit when he first came up. Said he couldn’t hit enough to stay up.
dangerous for my mental health: I’m beginning to count this one in the W column….
The Dodgers brought up a no-name, Muncy, who has hit 12 HRs so far this season. They keep doing that. It’s either remarkable or suspicious.
dude was horrible for the A’s. He’s gotta be on steroids.
So many guys are still getting caught on steroids, there has to be a LOT of guys still using them.
Or any of the PEDs.
Quite a slide by Mac. Three feet past the bag.
I guess tomorrow we’ll find out how many ribs the Oaf just broke on that head-first slide…
Giants medicos will misdiagnose it as a concussion.
Yeah add a couple broken fingers..
Holland outdueled Sherzer. What world am I living in?
The “Outer Limits”?
Unbelievable but true a fan in Oakland caught 2 consecutive foul balls!!!
The odds have to be a trillion/1???
how many fans besides this dude were at the game
LMAO…
Hahaha.
I think the odds of catching the second one are the same as the odds of catching the first one.
Who knows?
That’s two players today who don’t know how to slide.
See Macdog’s 2:54 PM…
Yes. Great way to stick with it on the overslide…
If the Gyros keep throwing starters out there that go only 5 frames, Bochy will end up with 8 position starters, 5 staff, 11 in the Pen, and Panda the sole utility guy – plus he can be part of the Pen, too…
It’s where baseball is heading. Bullpenning!
Anything to get rid of Jackson.
Craw friggin’ en muy muy fuego !…
Craw killing it….
4 1 4 2 0 0 .338 .385 .536
4-4 Crawford’s like Roy Hobbs :”Where ever you pitch it he hits it” never seen anything like it!!
Giants keep wasting guys in scoring position with supposed rbi guys up. May catch up to ’em…
Watson made him look ridiculous.
In his mind it’s just elementary..
Strick v. Harper in 1st AB in bottom 9th.
Could use a dinger coming up here from the Big Oaf…
Have they met since the big one?
Miller talking about it now.
Nope…
Pavs tweets Strick warming up (save situation so far), Harper due to lead off 9th.
Crawford’s tear is reminiscent of Darrell Evans in May 1983 and Randy Winn in September 2005…
Strickland v Harper Odds
HBP 20-1
HR 10-1
K 1-1
Wow, best frame so far this season for Strick?…
Ballgame, AND series win, against what had been one of the hottest NL teams! BOOM!
Yay!
I think Nat announcer said they had only one hit since 2nd inning…
I’d say taking 2 of 3 from the Nats in DC is pretty dang good.
Nice start to the roadie. Let’s not crater the next series like after Atlanta; stay focused and get some runs…
game ova!
Harper on cruise control to 1b is a bad look for anyone regardless of someone expecting a few hundred mil on his next deal.
Yeah, he dogged it big time.
Clint in 3…2…1…
It the Official El Flappo Knowing Dude Head Nod….aka, The Clint…
That last AB Stick hit Posey’s mitt perfectly every time.
Holland-ace.
I’m planning tentative trip to midwest in August, side trip a couple days to northern Kentucky horse farms for older Snarkkette and bourbon country (for somebody else). There’s dudes on here covering both sectors. Any suggestions for visits? I’ve got Claiborne Farm, Darby Dan Farm for the horses on the tentative planner; Makers Mark and Woodford Reserve on the whiskey front. I learned via Web that the big time stud horses won’t be available to see — they leave August through October to travel to southern hemisphere for “studding” services as the breeding season is on down there…
i can’t be of help with this. Only been to Kentucky once, about 12 years ago to go to Keenland.
OK, NP…
How’s that for retirement?
“Studding” in the northern AND southern hemispheres, year round…
August? yikes. Dress lightly. I’d add Blanton’s (Buffalo Trace, I guess) to the tour. I don’t think it’s on the tourist “trail.” Last October we took some back roads to get from I 75 to Nicholasville and the sights were well worth the trouble, especially at sunset.
Thanks, Xoot.
Yeah, humidity is going to be rough…
Giants are in Cincy mid-August.
Snarkk, I did the whole Kentucky farm route back in pre-internet October 1996, a different world ago – so it’s really ancient history. I don’t know how much things have changed or if it’s the kinda place where time stands still. Some had guided tours by appointment – others you could just walk right in any old time. Showing up with a bag of carrots and peppermints is a good move and might get you some special consideration, even today. The Kentucky Horse Park (where geldings Forego & John Henry lived out their retirement) was awesome. Spent a whole afternoon with them. Drove up to to one farm and retired champions Pleasant Colony and his son Pleasant Tap were rolling around in the mud unattended. I could’ve walked off with both of ’em. Most places were very accommodating. At Jonabell, they brought Affirmed out just for me! At Three Chimneys, I hobnobbed with Seattle Slew and other lesser known greats. Claiborne’s another must. Hung out with Danzig, Mr. Prospector, Unbridled, etc. Stallions worth tens of millions who they let you pet and feed like your neighbor’s dog. Secretariat and other greats are buried in the cemetery there (maybe not your thing). You’re smart, you’ll find your way. BTW, it was definitely October and all the pricey studs were absolutely in town. I remember Yankee playoff games on TV in the bar where they looked at me like I was nuts for putting cash down on it. Loved Keeneland too, which still had no track announcer back then…
Thanks Loo, great info…
…
Never been. Have fun, Tom…look forward to an update on the bourbon…
Great game and a beautiful win.
Mets owe Cespedes $29 mil this year and next 2. ouch.
for all that money you’d think that dude could get his legs healthy
Duggar hitting en fuego in Sac for last 1 1/2 weeks Slater hitting .360+ for the season. Actionless needs to hit…
https://www.sfgate.com/giants/article/Giants-prospect-Steven-Duggar-heats-up-with-12982632.php
Dyson is quietly having a damn good year.
Melancon might be getting it together.
Holland is our ace.
I thought all 3 would be garbage…
dyson just ran out of gas last year. He was a great find. As was Hundley
i’m gonna be in the Club behind home plate on Sat the 24th. If any Flappers are there, let’s get a beer
Buffalo Trace is a damm good whiskey Snarkk🥃They have a plant located in Frankfort Kentucky if you get near there..
Thanks, Kat. Noted…
After the game, Brusa returned to his regular job in New York as a hit man for the Genovese family…
Was his first hit on Hector Sanchez?
Just got back from the game with thw whole family…what a team performance….we got a nice waive from Pence as he was stretching and running in the OF during warmups when my whole family went nuts yelling his name.
Flap Nation representing from coast to coast, well done
Aye aye sir…shocked to see Justify pull that off but weak field…
So true about the weak field. Might still be soon to judge, but pre-Derby many of the “experts” were hyping this 3 y.o. crop as one of the deepest ever…
No Lexi wisecracks?
