Those are the number of runs we’ve scored against the Dodgers this year. Pathetic. Yes, we’ve had some guys out. But watching LA play last night, they were a step quicker, unquantifiably better. Did a 3-1 game ever feel further out of reach?
The only silver lining of Bumgarner hum drummin’ his way through this season is that maybe, MAYBE the Giants don’t do something stupid and extend him. Unfortunately that will torpedo his trade value next month. And then what if he comes back next year with something that passes as a *bounce back*? Will Sabean happily open up the vault? Ugh. So much negativity right now….
Happy Father’s Day though. This is a great day to stop and appreciate what you have, what you’ve been given, what you’ve given someone else. I know not everyone’s going to appreciate that, nor should they. I do.
yikes.
That and $5.00 gets you a cup of coffee. How many current Giants were on that list? Posey? Bummie? Sure. A few other guys as well. There are no guarantees.
Here’s a nice song Flan wrote about his dad:
As much as I like that genre of music, I just don’t like Flan’s voice. There is no substance to it. It’s dull and void of emotion.
Hmmm. I disagree. He puts a lot of emotion into his vocals and playing. At least that was the case each time I have seen him.
Take a close look at those teams on top row of prospects— every single one except Braves. sucks. The Twins and Pads have some potential to eventually compete but I don’t want to be White Sox As or Rays.
Next row (4s) is different but 3 and under is where most of the competitive playoff teams today are–Nats Tribe Rox DBax Cards Red Sox Brewers Cubs (0) and Mariners.
I still say the Bum deserves the vault!!
He has essentially a year and half saved on that arm and we got so much out of his under his true value deal…Giants have a ton of payroll to spend next 5-6 years, especially if they move Posey…
lol
if things go south this year, and I haven’t given up hope at all we are still in this and just need everyone back, I hope the Giants let Bum go. It’ll make no sense to keep him on a squad that’s floundering. It made sense to keep him this year, make a run in 2018 and see what happens, but if the wheels fall off he makes no sense on this team in the next 4-5 years to come…..
wouldn’t surprise me reasonable deal could be amicably worked out to satisfy Bum and the bean counters. Bum isn’t a holdout pay me or trade me type of guy, nor a Greinke I’m taking the best $$$ anywhere type either.
I realize there is potential big return but imo the one thing Giants cannot afford to trade away is pitching. I can only watch so much of the 5s straining to get through 5 as is.
he’s gonna need to ramp it up pretty soon. His value on the trade market would be to move him THIS year while he’s still got a sweetheart deal in 2019.
Yeah, their best bet is to hedge against what is left on his deal.
Flav’s thread title is even more telling when you consider these numbers . . .
1, 2, 2, 2, 1, 1, 1, 0, 0, 2, 1,
What is this? Answer – It’s the 11th consecutive game at Dodger Stadium where the Giants have been unable to score more than two runs against the Bums.
Giants have played 71 games so far. Bum and Cueto have started total of 8 of them combined. By all rights that total should be more like 28. Instead those missing 20 belong to guys like DRod Beede Suarez yada yada who make up the floundering 5s.
So I think Giants would have at least 5 more Ws and maybe more had top end of rotation been intact. This would put them at or near top of Division instead of 3 games below .500 and barely up on Padres.
Cueto won 3 starts early and was brilliant. Suarez has 2 Ws all season in 10 starts.
Bum has 0 Wins here mid June after 3 starts total.
Caleb Ferguson is pitching for the dogs today. In 5.2 innings, he has posted a 9.53 ERA and 2.11 WHIP (Pirates scored 4 runs off him in 1.2 innings and Rangers 2 runs in 4 innings). Ferguson has posted a 1.38 ERA and 1.05 WHIP in 39 innings pitched for Double-A Tulsa and a 2.25 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in eight innings with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season.
If we can’t make hay against this tomato can, than something is seriously wrong.
IOW, he’ll likely dominate San Francisco.
Yeah, usually all of the unknowns we face turn into Cy Young.
great news as long as he comes back something close to last year and not….whatever this is this year.
Been meaning to ask you – Do you follow Heyman (FanRag Sports)? Also, is Gold Gym closed where you use to go? If so, what’s your exercise routine now?
News, yes.
Great news? Meh…
Blade, Golds are toast. The one in Santa Clara on Hamilton/San Tomas is still there under different name, so is the one off 101 in Santa Clara. The Mt. View one closed. No idea what happened to the one used to be downtown San Jose.
24 Hour Fitness locations seem to be going strong and offer wide variety of activities/amenities (yoga pilates sauna steam room, b-ball racquet ball yada yada). Lot of gals where I go (called Fitness Evolution or some such) mostly doing cardio but more use free weights these days. Always dug gals with some shoulder def…outfits these days have come long ways. So many gals in casual workout attire for everyday walk around town.
Flav used to go to the one in Mt. View. I stopped going to Planet Fitness and 24 hour fitness, mostly because they’re too noisy and have too many people (those cavernous workout buildings are the worst for exercise locations because the weights crashing on the ground – usually because of idiots that don’t know anything about weight room etiquette – along with people using their smartphones while exercising drives me nuts). Additionally, traveling 6-9 months out of the year makes no sense for membership. Consequently, I do my own routine daily inside my home.
Do you have the time or patience to describe your home routine?
I could use the help!
It’s not much Loo. Only a half hour with 5 sets of pushups (50 reps), 5 sets of crunches (150 reps), and between the aforementioned, various calisthenics (deep knee bends, body twists and/or what we use to call in high school, “burpees” – which are a killer at my age). Additionally, I try to walk 8000 steps every day.
Thanks, Blade.
750 crunches sure ain’t happenin’ here anytime soon.
I wonder how far 8,000 steps is…
about 3.5 miles

Not sure if anyone has brought this up recently, but after today’s game, SF will have played 12 more games on the road than at home. Takes a little edge off the 5.5 games out for now, although, granted, unless they get better on the road, the disparity won’t mean much more than 500 at best.
Yes Fox guys talked about that. Giants have best pct. record in NL at home too. Just another reason with Belt Bum back and maybe Cueto in couple weeks to hope they don’t go into “flounder” mode.
1. Gorkys Hernandez (R) CF
2. Brandon Belt (L) 1B
3. Andrew McCutchen (R) RF
4. Nick Hundley (R) C
5. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
6. Mac Williamson (R) LF
7. Pablo Sandoval (S) 3B
8. Alen Hanson (S) 2B
9. Chris Stratton (R) P
Just beat the fucking bums once, please….
Looks like Posey injury issues are more concerning.
He’s approaching the historic catcher breakdown age, isn’t he?
Or not?
https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/catcher-aging-is-a-curve-not-a-cliff/
Trade him.
I could see the Astros taking Pence for nothing but the pro-rated ML minimum if that could be worked out…
4 miles Loo.
Thank you, Blade.
Hope all is well with your wife and baby…
Thanks buddy. They are fine. Michele’s birthday is on the 1st and in Vietnam, a person’s first birthday is very big, so we are having a big party for her, with around 150-200 guests.
Would a Dodger sweep bring the Rooster out?
I’m not wishing this, but maybe he just disappeared like Twin or Stix??? Or, he’s still working on that after dinner drink.
Bartenders Pub in Baltimore is offering free Dr. Pepper shooters (do any flappers know what these are? They didn’t have them when I drank) to patrons every time Chris Davis gets a hit. Through two and a half months of the season, Davis sits at -2.2 bWAR, far away the worst in the majors and was on pace for worst ever season by a 1st baseman, until he was mercifully benched by Showalter.
I knew it as the Flaming Dr. Pepper from Hell. Amaretto and 151 rum in a shot glass, lit on fire and dropped into a pint of ale.
Whoa! Sounds like it only takes one to have a nice buzz going.
As I recall, it does taste like Dr. Pepper.
Blade–Golds closed a few years ago. I built a gym at my house which is basically just a bench press, a rack, 45 lb plates and variety of different dumb bell weights.
Ahh, thanks. Which do you like better – Golds or working out at home?
i miss Golds but there are big advantages to working out at home. I built the gym in my carport and have discovered I really like lifting weights outdoors. Plus I can do it at any time, it was a 20 minute drive to and from Golds and that disqualified some days cause I was too busy. Plus I don’t have to talk to anyone, something me and Kokonuts definitely don’t have in common 🙂
Exactly what I alluded to above. The noise of the gym and people yabbering away, coupled with distance to the gym, made me argue with myself daily about whether I wanted to go or not, especially the last few years.
You and I would have a ball together.
Nothing would be said…
yup. Just two dudes tossing iron through space, fighting gravity and dominating….
this woman in Michigan got pissed off at the noise disrupting her workout and decided to do something about it.

In high school I did Slurpees, not burpees…
Man Kruk said ump had big zone and would give low strikes. 2 in 2 batters Strat didn’t get. Not good for nibbler.
Elevated pitch count for both of these guys. They’re not going to last 4 innings at this rate.
Needless run given to the Bums.
Tired act the way Dodger fans explode on every routine fly ball their players hit.
So I saw an add for the 6/19 game against the Marlins. It was 2 for 1 Giants dogs until the 7th inning. I couldn’t help thinking that the way they played in Miami it should be the 9 for 1 Giants dogs, all game long.
BELTED!
Welcome back Mr. Belt.
Yes! Belt getting back to what he was doing will add something to the LU.
this year’s new and improved Brandon Belt is very very good. Somehow he’s managed to expand his zone just a bit, so he swings more, yet he’s laying off the low inside breaking ball and he still spits on pitches that seem close but really aren’t. The great eye is better than ever but it’s working for a new, aggressive approach at the plate.
Hundley has 7 HRs and SLG of .796 in 110 ABs, exactly half the 220 ABs of Buster, with 4 HRs and SLG at .773. Huh?…
whoosh the high hard one to end it.
Beat L.A.!
Well, thank goodness for the HRs. Only 3 hits, 2 HRs get ‘er done.
4-6 roadie, turned out at least passable…
Ta da!
Gotta love the Clint nod.
Win #8 for Stratton.
Meanwhile Mets have scored 4 in top of 9th with 2 out bases empty vs. DBax closer Boxberger to take 5-3 lead.
Rox and Pads also with Ls today, so Giants can gain on everyone.
Mets close it out 5-3. Dbax fans on twitter not happy with closer lol.
A win vs the Dodgers. Good to see Clint
Brutal. https://twitter.com/sportslarryknbr/status/1008478095693643777?s=19
Brutal, but true. Unfortunately, he’s not going anywhere unless the mealy mouthed collective ownership bites the bullet and “retires” him. They wont because of that luxury tax. No one walks away from $18.5 million (see Cain).
That being said, you know they’ll figure out some sort of DL injury. I imagine Evans and Sabean are intently perusing their medical thesaurus now for potential DL injuries.
how long we been saying it here? Sentiment near unanimous on tweets. Someone might have bitten if they’d waived him last year. Dunno about now but time to find out.
Crawford to miss next 3 games for maternity leave. Fucking embarrassing. It’s his 4th kid yet he’s still gonna burn 3 games.
Paternity, maternity. Whatever. They’re both girls.
wonder how many games missed by Sedale Threatt over this issue. If timing wasn’t right might have missed an entire season worth of NBA games.
After all is said and done, the Giants are 7-6 against the Dodgers after thirteen head-to-head matchups. That doesn’t suck. 6 more to go.
That brutal twittercrap on Pence is right on.
The truth can be brutal, but ignoring it is more brutal.
DFA Pence and Actionless at same time, pulling two teeth while the mouth is numb is better that one at a time.
Nobody can argue with logic that Duggar and Slater would be worse than those two.
If the lux salary limit is somehow preventing this, then the FO has to get to get creative, earn their own salary, and figure it out. NO Giants fans with at least half a brain would be pissed off at those moves…
See my post above . . . they’ll come up with a fake injury. He’s not going to retire though. No one walks away from $18.5 million.
The money is spent tho. Giants owe him if he is outright released. that’s what got bowtie fired after they finally dumped Rowand.
Yes, that’s what I said. If the Giants want him gone, they’ll have to release him. He’s certainly not going to quit.
yes, you did 5:27. Same thing Sox did with Pablo. They are on hook for $18 mil this season, Giants for $545K.
Pence will get the Cain treatment. The phantom injury thing is just too transparent.
The “Picture of Health” (great new nickname) will eventually get “Spanned” out of town…
mm Maybe Craw can use a day off. Since the Nats game where he went 4-4 with HR he is 3-26.
Hanson, who also had to cool off at some point, 3-22.
well he’s fucking taking off 3 so he should be good and rested by the time he wanders back to the team……
What would he do if there was only 3 games left in the season and they were going into LA tied with them for first?
Stratton on pace to go 18-8.
Wouldn’t count on it…
Happy Father’s Day to Godzilla, too.
