Bay Area’s Team Wins Game 1

This picture is hilarious.

Why are both of these yoked out dudes trying to take a painful dump on the Bay Bridge? Actually it looks like the deuce might drop on their respective stadiums and in Oakland’s case, would they even notice? Baha.

Additionally, the trophy is invalidated by the “NBC” on it. That’s like when Papa John’s sponsors your little league team.

But whatever, I’m in. Gimmie another damn trophy. We’ll try to find some space for it at AT&T….

REALLY interesting game tonight. Brett Anderson sucks and Smargerine is looking to try to hang on to what little glory he may have left. This one could go either way…..

When I was a kid I had a Bay Bridge World Series poster that looked very similar to this hanging on my wall in my bedroom. I am certain that’s the look they were trying to emulate. That ‘89 poster was cool. This is just embarrassing.

My friend (early 70’s) had his bedroom wall completely covered with Playboy centerfolds.

Moronta saved the game for bum–cool to see him chatting it up with Cueto in dugout afterward. those last 2 ABs by the A’s Bum had to throw 17 pitches before he ultimately walked them both.
Jackson, who also sucks, held Giants to 2 runs, one on the balk. Talk on MLBTR from Beane about A’s being buyers at deadline. hmmnn

Great night for the kid. like Unc said like to see Duggar and Slater out there together.
Still don’t understand why Duggar and Hanson weren’t stealing 2b last night. Doubt Bochy had the cuffs on; maybe they just didn’t feel right about getting good jump. Shame to waste what little speed they have.

Moronta had big helping hand from Pablo too who made super diving grab to save 2 run double.

When Pablo is batting lefthanded I would agree. He still needs to be platooned. D’anaurd has suddenly arisen as a good platoon option.

That poster is pretty funny. I think Wilco is right that it’s some sort of homage to the ‘89 Series. The club is looking to move Samardzija so he could at least do his part and put together a decent start to two in July. Anyone know what is going on with Longoria? Has he started his rehab assignment or is he just hanging around the house banging his hot wife on the regular? What about that dipshit Strickland?

I didn’t watch it but followed the dancing dots on my phone. I saw bases loaded no outs. Pretty tough odds. Wow for Moronta.

Moronta saved Bochy’s bacon again. Bochy is going towards full-on Dusty mode, pulling starters late. Bum didn’t have much the whole game, he got by pretty much on guile, not stuff. Bum really has not had great stuff since his return, that concerns me, but apparently nobody else…

Yeah, Bumgarner was clearly fatigued last night. Maybe he needs to run the bleachers or something. When Strickland returns he should go back to the set up roll with Smith as closer imo.

    • Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on July 14, 2018 at 12:40 pm

      • dirtnrocksnomo's avatar dirtnrocksnomo said, on July 14, 2018 at 12:57 pm

With a maximum fb that’s declining more energy is expended to maint an average fb in the 90-92 range and fatigue sets in earlier in the game.

  14. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on July 14, 2018 at 1:13 pm

No friggin’ way in a baseball logical sense that SF should give Bum some long, expensive extension. As soon as they sign it, he’s got a good shot at going off a performance cliff, like Cain. By end this season, he’ll have pitched 1600 MLB innings, and if healthy, around 1800 by end 2019 when he’s a FA. If they want to reward him, sign him to some kind of 20-year Bobby Bo or Bruce Sutter deal where he gets his cash over a long retirement, but doesn’t hamstring the team’s current salary structure under the greatly feared current LTLL (Lux Tax Limit Line), the de facto GM. It’s not Sabes’ fault that Bum signed a deal that was Giants-friendly, and they used the savings to pay Samardzxxx $90 million over 5 years to stink it up…

The future of big contracts for anybody in MLB will never be like it used to be. Sabermetrics has hugely altered that.
Everyone’s curious to see if Harper and Machado can buck the trend. They won’t get what people a year ago thought those two would be getting.

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on July 14, 2018 at 1:30 pm

Good for Belt–I only wish he would have gone off while up at the plate, got his money’s worth, and then got run.

the new and improved Brandon Belt is a fiery guy. He was absolutely right, not even close. Down side, of course, is obvious tonight. But he’ll be back. And he has smacked the ball off the bricks in RF recently. He’s still swinging well.

Matheny sucks. I’ve said so for years. He finally lost the clubhouse, ownership had to can him. Looking forward to Daniel’s next blog post about this

        Matheny can dream about this…

didn’t they re sign him to extension a year ago? Daniel generally stuck up for him but didn’t always seem to have his heart in it especially when it came to pen mgmt.

Love the part where the am/pm clerk tells Toomgis “its perfectly normal” to start growing facial hair.

Man, i would love to be in the room planning the next Toomgis commercial. I thnk I could have been a decent ad guy. I used to love the way 30 Something portrayed that business. Seemed accurate to me, but who knows.

Shiot. What’d I miss? Smarglebargle out? Belt tossed? Slater’s IN?!? With Duggar?Be still my heart!!

    Oh shit, there Pence.

    • Lurker John's avatar Lurker John said, on July 14, 2018 at 8:58 pm

Belt got tossed for arguing a horrible check swing call. Samardzija sucked from the first pitch, and Duggar’s just gettin’ ‘er done. Slater too.
