A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Wither D-Rod?

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on May 10, 2019

I guess we shouldn’t be totally surprised, this guy might have been pitching with luck on his side last season. Still, the difference is startling. He gave up 9 bombs all season in 2018. It’s May 10th and he’s given up 9 bombs so far this year. Every number is worse. This is a no-pressure season so we can be patient I guess. But it is rather unnerving that he’s gotten this….hittable?

Here’s what I want to see in the Dubs game tonight: I want to see either Jordan Bell or Quinn Cook get some run. With his energy and athleticism Bell seems like a natural rotation guy in this series and yet he gets no minutes. Cook, too. We need a shooter out there, Cook can do that.

Would you take the 7.5, Flavor?

  2. Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on May 10, 2019 at 6:53 am

No. If anything I’d give it. But today is a no bet just because I could really see either outcome, therefore it’s a dart throw.

I’m leaning towards Dubs getting blown out tonight. But if Steph and Klay get hot, who knows? Still, if Splash Bros gonna splash it’s more likely to happen at Oracle than tonight

  4. willedav's avatar willedav said, on May 10, 2019 at 7:24 am

Cook is great idea. He can shoot and be less liability handling the ball and defensively than Livingston, who is just plain done and has been for a while. Class guy is #34 but less minutes the better.
Bell, lol. Athleticism, OK but it’s the NBA so there are a few hundred other athletic guys in the league who have way more skill set than Bell does. He’s just clueless on offense, incapable of creating his own shot and has range of 8 ft. He’s a post in a too small body.

Good news for Giants is Reds never scored more than 4 runs in visit to A’s. Hold them down to that level SF can be OK. this is time to show some things…Reds are last place team, Blue Jays (next in) are close to one and they play 2 other last place teams Orioles and Marlins to end the month.

    Chuck:
Thanks for the Jim Ray Hart thing yesterday. I still the Giants really failed him, although I can’t prove it.
Anyway, Mays talks about Hart’s drinking in the autobiography he did with Lou Sahadi in 1988. Mays made a deal with Hart that if he stayed sober for 6 days a week, he would gift him a bottle of Old Crow every Monday. Mays bought a case of it and Hart collected his bottle every week and had a great year (1965). At the end of the season, Mays gave him $500.00 for “telling the truth and playing every day”…

Wow. Sad story. Didn’t realize his drinking problem started that early. I guess the team figured that since he didn’t want to be honored, they’d just blow him off. Petty bullshit.

I like DRod too, stand up kid. After getting blasted by Reds he didn’t make excuses, and said words to effect Roark was pitching in same yard and didn’t make as many mistakes.
Hope coaching staff can fix him if problem is mechanical.
but yes, SPs young and old have been getting hammered lately.

I think the Warriors are going to take this game. Harden inexplicably disappeared when KD went down. I think Harden has another brain-fart game in crunch time.

Guys like Stephen A have written the Warriors off and I’m sure Kerr is using that as fodder to get these guys a little extra jacked. Flav is right though, it is all about the bench. Bell is a big disappointment so far and Livingston is just a shell of himself. It’s on Cook to provide some bench firepower.

I mean it would be great to be able to keep Iggy on the bench and start Bell in KD’s spot.

One thing about this series: Paul is a shell of himself. Without his game he just comes across as a whiny, flopping bitch. Hope I didn’t just jinx him into a HOF performance tonight. But seriously, he’s trending into Livingston territory, at least in terms of looking *done*.

I have no interest in watching, but I hope the Rockets crush them. I still see another Warrior title as inevitable, but I’d be glad to be wrong.

Good to see Austin get a couple of homers and to see our bats come alive at these road ballparks.
I’ll be super disappointed if we don’t have a totally revamped ballpark next year.

Austin seems to be kind of a stoic dude, but I like him. I’m trying to come up with a look alike for him.
Kind of looks like a younger Matt Dillon or maybe the bad ass side of Jim Carrey in Me, Myself, and Irene.

Huff doesn’t seem to understand the racism that Trump exudes still to this day. Trump spent years trying to get people to believe that Obama wasn’t eligible to be president, and therefore not really president. Trump’s political career has racism as its foundation, and has continued with it from there. Why would athletes of color ever forget that?
