A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Bombs, Bad Breaks and Beatles

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 11, 2019

They hit 13 home runs in the AZ/Philly game last night. THIRTEEN. In a 9 inning game with the wind barely blowing out. Nearly half their total hits were bombs (13/27). This has gotten beyond stupid. The game has been changed to unrecognizable. The Giants are light years behind how baseball is played today and there’s a weird part of me that’s cool with that…..

As I suspected when it happened, it now looks like KD has torn his achilles. That is terrible. This guy comes back with what we now know was a badly injured leg and literally blows his career. I know it was KD’s decision to play but I hope the Dr’s warned him of the risks and didn’t say anything like “you can’t hurt it more than it’s already hurt.”— by the way, that is one of the dumber things I’ve ever heard. Of course you can hurt something worse. If you weaken  or injure a muscle or tendon it puts all the muscles and tendons around it at risk. Achilles are especially vulnerable.

My top 5 worst Beatles songs:

5. Strawberry Road

4. ObLaDi, ObLaDa

3. Sargent Peppers Lonely Hearts

2. Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds

1. Love Me Do. Nothing but word salad nonsense. They should change the name of the tune to “Love Me Do Not Play That Song On The Radio Ever Again”.

Feel free to list your TOP 5, I know there are people out there who like the Beatles and maybe I’ll gain some perspective on the reasons why if I hear about some of their good songs.

Of course we will be no-hit the rest of the game.

There’s NO WAY Bochy would take out a veteran pitcher in the 5th who has a chance to get a win.

That’s awesome, although the chainsaw scared me a little.

As crazy as that band was, they had some excellent musicians. BIll Spooner, Prairie Prince, Michael Cotten, and Roger Steen were always on point. Some of their jazzier stuff was very Zappa-esque

Melonhead already looks gassed in the pen.

Insurance run on the sac fly. Pablo hammered that.

A thirty-something Ringo Starr had a hit with a cover version of “You’re Sixteen, You’re Beautiful, And You’re Mine” and nobody batted an eye about it. Seems odd in retrospect. A different pop culture era in those days, though.

SNL did a skit a while back, parodying a commercial for a ’50s rocker’s hits, except all the songs were creepy lyrics about dating young girls, it was pretty funny.

Jerry Lee Lewis married his 13 year old cousin. Like Edgar Allan Poe a friend of mine used to say, in defense.

As lost as our season is, would you rather be a Padre fan? Once again they struggle to be relevant as they hover around ,500 and they just dumped $300 mill on Machado.

    • zumiee said, on June 11, 2019 at 10:02 pm

Padres fans thought they were playoff bound this season. Doh!!

    • djloo27 said, on June 11, 2019 at 10:17 pm

At least when the Giants waste $300 million, they spread it around…

  24. unca_chuck said, on June 11, 2019 at 10:00 pm

And we haven’t even mentioned Pink Floyd.

I think the first time I heard The Wall album was at a campground. A young couple nearby played the whole album on a cassette player. The album was clearly great. I was pretty mesmerized by it. I never ended up buying it, though. I was already realizing you can’t have every album you want. In that era before YouTube.

Well, I just got into town about an hour ago
Took a look around, see which way the wind blow
Where the little girls in their Hollywood bungalows

Are you a lucky little lady in the City of Light
    Or just another lost angel?
City of Night, City of Night
City of Night, City of Night, woo, c’mon…

Good question Unc, maybe we can talk more about them tmw.
They paid Hosmer $21 mil last year, owe him same this year and 3 more after that. He’s not better than Belt and makes even more money.
Myers salary next year goes up to $22.5 for next 3 and then one more at $20. They owe him $87mil still.
Ian Kinsler at 2b? wow holding a place I guess but for whom?
Like everyone not named dodgers, just seem like second tier in division and not serious threat.
