Hiccup
Not much to say about yesterday except it was ugly and a stark reminder of how bad this team can be. Really excited to see the debut of Conner Menez. With him and likely Zach Green in the line up we might be seeing Z tip his hand a little as to what he plans to do by July 31….
Zimmerman apparently is troubled by plantar f and being looked at by med staff. Z needs to do this right now. Belt will hit just fine for Nats (over .800 OPS on road with 10 bombs) get OB and play great D. But he needs to get out of Dodge.
Joc Pederson led off and played 1b for LA yesterday, did same and played RF today.
He now has 23 HRs and slash line .329/.528/.857. He’s long been rumored to be sent out of town in a deal as the one too many OFers Dodgers have now that Pollock is healthy and back in every day LU. He’s 27 yrs old and making $5mil this year, arb eligible next year.
Man wouldn’t it be nice to have someone able to put up those kind of numbers here for SF?
I think we should have low expectations for Cueto. He’ll be on some sort of a pitch count, he might perform like a #5, we have lots of those. Maybe he ends up being a 6th starter? That might actually work, you know they don’t want too many innings on Beede or Anderson….
I’ve advocated the last couple of years, after Cueto’s injury, for the Giants to go to a 6 man rotation, with Bum always pitching every 5th day, and the other guys being adjusted off of that. It’s not rocket science to set up.
You mean it’s “snot-rocket” science…
lulz! Gold!! I’m in awe of that comeback.
this is crazy
Holy SHIT!!!!! That is fucking amazing. Way to go Luke!
How about a trade with the Nationals..Belt& Dyson are Watson (Nats pick) for OF Victor Robles a RH power guy (17 bombs and 18 steals)controllable contract that Zman likes and he’s only 22.
Just shit storming, but the Nats have the worse BP in baseball with an ERA over 6!! so their looking to upgrade their pen..
They’ve hyped Robles so much, I can’t see them trading him at all for any offer from the Giants.
“Asked what he liked about Green, Zaidi said, “Homers.” The former Phillies farmhand, at 25, is having his best minor league season, with 23 home runs in 63 games.
“Our guys in the offseason did a really nice job identifying him and getting him in the fold,” Zaidi said. “… I think he’s made some adjustments, watching his at-bats recently, I think he’s in a more athletic position. He’s swinging the bat even better than he was in camp.””
Did anyone ask Z how he plans to get his current $50 million 3B out of the way to make room for Green?
It’s a great question.
Yeah probably right Zumie, as I watched the Nats Bullpen getting hammered again.Their looking for at least 2 BP arms at the deadline, might as well be are’s with the right package, let’s see Z working the phone lines.,
We could prolly get a good haul for Dyson anf Gott the way their pen is throwing.
““If we continue to play well, obviously that’ll color things in a certain way,” Zaidi said.”
in one way, this run we’re on is the best thing to happen to us. If Z doesn’t get offers he likes he can just tell other GMs to go fuck themselves. And then we keep our guys and the Facebook housewives are happy. It’ll suck because we won’t get shit for them when they leave next year but it at least gives Z some leverage in these negotiations—-leverage he didn’t have before the Flapalooza that kicked all this off.
My anti-Yankee bias is probably showing here, but is Mike Mussina really a Hall of Famer?
To me, no. And not Baines, either. They’re really nice guys, but they’re not Hall of Famers to me. They didn’t amaze during their eras, they compiled.
Yeah, two more players who belong in the Hall of Very Good.
an excellent Stanford man, hell yes he’s worthy.
The HOF has gotten so stupid it’s not even worth debating…
Harold Baines as a HOFer is a friggin’ joke
Guy was a longevity player, 22 seasons a very good player, but not a HOFer.
BA
.289
OBP
.356
SLG
.465
OPS
.820
2866 hits = 130 avg/season
384 HRs = 17 per season
I never would have considered him for the HOF. Neither did the baseball writers. He never got more than 6% of the baseball writers votes for the HOF. SIX percent.
That’s not because he treated the writers like crap, and they dissed him on the ballot. No, it was because essentially all the writers said — “RU kidding, of course this dude is not a HOFer”.
So, for him in and Bonds out is a total joke…
As I’ve said, if Bum’s not dealt, they should make a big push to re-sign him before he goes FA.
They did it with Pence…
Always debatable, but I would say Mussina deserves to be in.Except in his rookie year(only 12 starts) he won double digit games 17 straight years finishing up at 270-153 with a winning percentage of over .600 he was quite the consistent work horse…
Not deserving to me are guys like Ozzie Smith are Bill Mazeroski who are in their for their glove work not their .260 career batting averages, but whoever they smoozed(especially Smith)to help get them in definitely worked..
Baines got in by one of those veteran committees. La Russa pushed real hard for him and the rest of the committee probably just wanted to shut him up and get the meeting over with.
Baines in HOF is a joke. Maybe the least deserving player in? I thought one of the criteria was that at lest a few years of dominating / being among the very best. Guess not
La Russa is one of the biggest jerks in MLB history. There are many incidences, well documented, of his jerk-dom.
Seconded.
And, he never knew McGwire used PEDs until the morning right before McGwire gave a news conference admitting it…
Rivera bio an excellent read. Goes back to very humble background in Panama. Didn’t think much of baseball, didn’t want to pitch, scouts saw him in an emergency outing for his team and signed him. He wasn’t very good for Yanks as an SP but playing catch with a buddy noticed movement that became the cutter.
Very religious guy established his own church in Panama and later here where he lives.
Even though I liked the guy, I’d add Lee Smith to Hall of the Very Good.
OK assume Giants keep Bum…where do you start negotiations? 3 yrs /$50 mil?
God I hope we don’t. We got the best years of that arm. The last thing we need to do is overpay another Giant for stuff he used to do for us
mmm think that (your statement) would make a good main thread Big Guy, generate a lot of response. all I’ll say right now.
this guy explains a lot about a LOT of things and he nails the declining attendance problem
Great job by the coach, he expresses a lot of things I agree with; but Torres is wrong that this is everything wrong with society. The coach never quite says that.
Jeff Kent’s career numbers are nearly identical to Baines per snarkk’s post — BA .290, OBP .356, SLG .500, OPS .855, HR 377. The only difference is hits: Kent 2,461 to Baines’ 2,866. What a joke.
This Beeks pitcher for TB is getting massacred!I
7 runsj 3 HR’s allowed including back to back. And to top it off his former teammate Beniddati (sp) has one of the bombs plus a single, should be a one sided text ribbing later..
shut the f-ing Cubs fans up!
