Hiccup
Not much to say about yesterday except it was ugly and a stark reminder of how bad this team can be. Really excited to see the debut of Conner Menez. With him and likely Zach Green in the line up we might be seeing Z tip his hand a little as to what he plans to do by July 31….
It was no more than a “stark reminder” of how well Giants pitching had been vs. Mets in 2 games before. They held them to 2 runs in 26 inning, ERA of 0.69. Let Shark Blach and Holland into the act in a day game, and things go sideways.
Let’s see if Giants get benefit of what usually ails them–first time facing new kid on the block. Great move to add Green too something we’ve been talking about here for some time to give Sando a much needed break.
1. Donovan Solano (R) 2B
2. Austin Slater (R) RF
3. Tyler Austin (R) 1B
4. Buster Posey (R) C
5. Kevin Pillar (R) CF
6. Zach Green (R) 3B
7. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
8. Mike Yastrzemski (L) LF
9. Conner Menez (L) P
So the Giants DFA Derek Holland&Ryder Jones to and option Blach to Sac make room for Menez&Green..
Yet they Keep Pomeraz? Lol..He’s got some incriminating photos on Zman are Boch!
those are both nice moves; glad to see them cut losses and eat some $$$ over Holland. Someone would take Poms off Giants hands I think Kat if he can have couple decent outings in pen. Maybe he’s better off there; some lefties last forever in pen.
Rox, who have dropped 6 in a row, slapping around J Paxton up 5-1 on Yanks after big 3rd inning. Gotta be wake up call for NY after how well Bum has pitched lately.
Twins lost to A’s last night after their closer got first 2 outs with 1 run lead in 9th, then hit a guy gave up line drive double into LF corner and hot smash single that scored 2. They gotta be talking to Z too.
First time I’ve watched Twins at all this season. Their SP today Michael Pineda is a big dude, listed at 6-7 260.
Might be conservative estimate.
hmmnn may have to keep closer eye on them. Beside Pineda from DR, entire LU has only 2 honkies, leadoff guy Kepler and C from Stanford and NorCal Jason Castro. Our old buddy Triple 0 (hitting .275 with OPS of .770) Nelson Cruz Jorge Polanco Eddie Rosario Marwin G rook 2b Luis Arraez and M Sano from san pedro de Macoris DR like R Cano. as the late Arte Johnson used to say verrrry interesting.
lol, think the Reds have their priorities fucked up?
Very emotional & powerful speech by Roy Halliday’s wife Brandy at Cooperstown!
Twins leadoff honky OF Max Kepler just blasted 3 run bomb, his 24th (!) for 4-0 lead. Twins lead entire AL with 182. wow
ZMan’s jettison of Holland with about $3 Million to eat on his Deal tells us nothing but good things from this new front office. They made an off-season call that wasn’t working well and standing in the way of young player development— so, eat the $ and move on. We are being run now by a proactive GM, not a reactive one. Awesome …
Big fall for Holland this season. I think, early this season, he was starting to think of himself as one of the team leaders. Oops.
K&K gave up on him early in the broadcast yesterday. They never talked about what was happening or not happening with him yesterday.
K&K are Company men. They will fall into the Company line whenever needed. There may have been situations here and there when they questioned ownership/management, but I can’t think of any offhand. The only guy I think they’d defend against a management move would be Buster, and that’s a maybe…
Didn’t help his cause when he bitched about his demotion to the BP.Which was totally warranted by his “Suckitude”as a Starter..
tremendous grab and throw by Pillar there. He does play extra deep, but still got to and gunned down foolish runner.
Snarkk..Zman should do the same with his other off-season pickup bust Drew Pomenraz and eat his contract!!
Also I think they should move on from Tyler Austin, he’s feast are fathom, yeah he will tease you with a few bombs, but K’s at a high rate and really not versatile enough to play in the field, a liability they don’t need..
If you’re fast and athletic like Pillar, I see no reason not to shade deep, especially in a big outfield like Oracle. Way easier to come in on pops and liners than running way back into Death Valley…
So is Pom-a Bomb’s role now the long reliever in only blow out losses?
Not sure if any of you still familiar with Ron Shnadler but Menez BPV is 101. That really good.
Good for whoever he’s facing?
I bought that dude’s book every year up until like 4 years ago.
Shit
Too many full counts for the youngster. They’re spitting on his changeup …
Well Conor has the HR ball going for him..
Sure it’s nerves being 1st game but…
Other teams don’t seem to have trouble teeing off early on rookie pitchers they’ve never seen. Giants— crickets…
Green’s batting 1.000 nicely does it. Jesuit of Carmichael is b-ball power too.
Nice way to start your career Zach..
This game isn’t exactly over. Giants might score often enough to get the kid a W.
Green has 23 homers? WTH? Maybe he can wally Pipp our 3B
Hope so, looks like Zman not afraid to eat some contract, and he’ll need to do thar with Longoria…
Off to PLL allstar game ( lacrosse). Menez getting some swings and misses. A good sign his stuff is good. Lets hope!
Ok. Kid is settling down, let’s see what he can do…
Slater has gone really cold since a hot comeback…
Menez is grandson of C Bill Plummer. He’s from nearby Hollister out in the sticks east of Gilroy. The HS out there, San Benito, is nicknamed the HayBailers.
If my last name was Plummer, I’d name my kid Liquid…
Posey just one hopped one into stands 420 ft away.
Slater still has OPS of about 1.000. I think he’ll be more OB guy than power guy. OB was .390 coming in. I think he’ll be good fit in 2 spot.
Green gets the rbi with double into the corner! Tie ballgame and he’s still batting 1.000.
And of course every stupid fuck announcer has to tell you that the defensive team got a break on the ground rule double as if it could ever be otherwise…
Hernandez impressed with the enthusiasm of the crowd…
man Alonso airmailed that one. thought Solano was gonna be dead meat.
nicely done by Slater ground ball to right side and runner gets to 3b. gotta love it baseball played right way.
Austin has to realize he might be on short leash. He doesn’t play any position very well and strikes out a ton.
Dude you gotta hit. And he strikes out again with runner in scoring position. arrgghhh and they don’t score
J D Davis is from Elk Grove? Bill Cartwright went to Elk Grove HS, I’ve been in that gym. Used to be 5 miles of nothing on other side of Hwy 5 to that gym. Now it looks like San Jose, houses shopping centers schools everywhere right off freeway all the way to Hwy 99..
Cartwright scored 50 against my high school’s varsity team. I was a freshman at the time, so I missed that debacle.
That was for Hoss.
tremendous grab out in Rf by McNeil. Solano stung that one too bad.
Couple of buddies and I went to see Cartwright play once during their big start winning their 1st 29? games in that little bandbox of a gym.But that placed rocked and Cartwright was a man among boys going for 36 pts.He had a nice supporting cast, with Hardy&Boines )sp) too..
There’s a car commercial where a group of people see a new car, and the black guy says “This car is dope,” and I feel kind of sorry for the actor. He probably saw his line in the script and sighed. They want him to “sound black.” This happens so often in commercials. I have some black friends. None of them says something “is dope.” It sounds like a phrase white frat boys use to try to sound cool.
Lol Zumie…like rad&hinkey slang
Sighing all the way to the bank, Zum…
Well, I’m not expecting him to pass up the gig. Acting’s a tough business to make a living in.
That was one hell of a ketch by McNeill..
Alittle Pence at the fence reminder..Oooh and he just got rung up on a terrible pitch high and outside..
Giants OFers today reminding why ZMan needs to trade for some talent…
ump having rough day all over the place with strike calls and then ejects Pillar.
Yaz in CF, interesting.
Vogt in LF, um maybe not so interesting.
Pillar just can’t do that.
Has he been told before?
down goes Frazier again, 0-4 with 4 Ks today. Mets twitter guy Anthony diComo said he is hitting .180 in July with38% K rate. responses from Mets fans, uh not too complimentary
Another extra innings game, fans getting their money’s worth this weekend.
Good for the East Coast Flap contingent it’s only 6:45 😀
Clean Melon!
Nice job by pen so far. Mets have not had a hit since 2nd inning, says Hank.
Of course Giants haven’t had one either since 4th.
They haven’t seen Pomeraz yet..
ah good one Kat. and yeah let’s hope they don’t.
Diaz cruised right through that. wow has great stuff 99 and a breaking ball at 90.
Uh oh, Alonso…
They gotta capitalize now on two shutout frames from Melonbust…
2 walks and Callaway yanks Famillia, with Dick on the way up.
that sucks. I really thought the Dick was gonna come through there.
A thought that perhaps many men have had before finally turning to Viagra….
Lulz
Bringing in the fences in the off-season has to be in the bag. Gotta change the hitting vibe for this team at home as a new FO and manager era starts. They probably have a stadium architect firm cranking on plans now, or tweaking plans they’ve already had done along the way but wouldn’t do with McGowan still around…
Another brutal call
Gott jacked up some high heat.
Bring him the heater Ricky!
Am I supposed to understand what that Pillar’s commercial is all about??
Yaz ends it! bomb #9 wow what a season this guy is having.
Put this one in the Win column. WTG Yaz.
YAZ Baby!!!!!!
Lil‘ Yaz with some Jaz !! …
Hell Yaz!
Gatorade Bath to boot!
Should of nailed AmyG as well..
happy for that kid, making a name for himself. He’s gotta be tired of hearing about his grandpa all the time.
7 shutout innings (2 hits given up) from pen which won all three extra inning games.
And they were considering sending Yaz down during the Milwaukee series,How stupid would that have been??
Please delete these, Zum.
They detract from Clint and my homo…
They give representation to the women of Facebook, a group that has never lost faith in the 2019 Giants.
The Menez kid definitely earned more starts. After some early jitters, he was getting it done. Worthy of a dfa of Holland. Even more trade possibilities now. Greene needs to play more, for sure. Hope he Pipps Longo…
ryan Zimmerman just jacked himself up running out a hit to 3b. Replaced by Steven Adams…Belt is better than either of these two. Offer them Smith if they’ll take Belt as part of deal.
Personally cannot express enough how thrilled I am to be rooting for another Yaz in my lifetime…
Somet have mentioned Cueto coming back. He’d have to be back on roster by Aug 31 to qualify for any post season, if I can be so optimistic…
The unbelievable innings by Melancon and Gott today are to be pondered and treasured and marveled upon.
They are talking early August return for Johnny C.
Yazzle dazzle is the FB housewives favorite player.
They do love him.
Gott is usually Good.
I’ll take any zero frame from Melonbust. Two in a row is a minor miracle…
I’ve defended Belt for years but I can’t any more.
He’s hitting .208 at home with 3 HRs and 11 (eleven!) rbis in 46 games. OPS at the O is .676. That’s bad enough for a middle IF, inexcusable for 1b in juiced ball era.
He’d rather be an ump than a hitter. No that’s an inch outside I’m not swinging at it. He gets plenty enough pitches thrown that way completely away from the defense and is unable to take advantage of it.
He pulls the ball into the ground vs. shift instead of pulling it into the air to short 309 ft corner for a bomb.
The night we were there Posey hit one within inches of top of RF wall…why can’t Belt do that??? Instead his fav pitch is in middle of plate above shoetops and he tries to drive it over CF fence with predictable results.
You have to be able to adjust to where you’re playing 81 games a year and he’s unwilling and unable. It’s not like Giants don’t have others to play there. I’d sacrifice some D for a better hitter; shouldn’t be hard to find.
I’m getting there, too. I’ve always defended Belt. Hard to do now. He should have learned how to block pitches just down the left field line, and he’d be hitting .300. I think he’s hurt, w a bad knee, but if he is, he should get it fixed…
A big reason I’ve always loved baseball over the other major sports in this country is that average sized men like Lil‘ Yaz can not only succeed, but flourish. Athleticism, hand-eye coordination and grit will take you a long way. No need to be 6‘7“ or weigh 270 lbs…
