Fortuna Spineth Downward
Dropped down to 4-6 in our last 10. Mets are 9-1 in their last 10. Think they think they can make the post season? This is where this all becomes somewhat of a mirage. Every team has a little run at some point in the season. Ours, sadly, was a little longer than other bad teams and certainly at the wrong time (close to the deadline).
We are now stuck in this slow walk down the Bochy Brick Road trying to find The Wizard of Wild Card. As I said a couple of weeks ago, if this was watching Bochy get fired up for one final legit run through the post season I’d be all in. But he doesn’t have the tools, man. No Dick. The pitching is fraying like a motherfucker. He’s like Sandra Bullock in Gravity trying to re-enter the atmosphere but this alternate ending is going to see him burn up, horrifically.
Better than fading away, I guess…
Pawlie Kokonuts won the Trade Deadline contest. The prizes were 1) a $25 gift card and 2) this:

You know what Chuck, I think I’m wrong I think it was called Farrel’s ice cream parlor in San Mateo..
Shaw’s.. Farrel’s pretty close.
There was a Blums that was like a 50’s place, and I thought there was a Shaw’s as well.
You are right about Farrell’s though. The pig trough . . . Like a 10′ long metal trough full of ice cream. They’d run that bitch all around the restaurant when someone ordered it .
Yep. *sigh* Yaz haz cooled down and the vets are doing their usual suck.
We should be down by 8 but it doesn’t even fucking matter. The wet noodle brigade is laying down the worm burners.
I think the Mets have leap-frogged us…
Tough to say who’s more lifeless; the Giants play so far, or Kuip on radio describing it….
We had Farrell’s in SacTown too. Fun place. Went there for my 12th? birthday party.
dressed up in red and white vertical stripes? I think they wore white hats and sung Happy Birthday all day long? Same place?
That’s the place!
That’s the place Flavor..
They would run around so crazy your order was melted by the time they got to your table.Hilarious place though..
This is a poster game for Millenials and GenXers complaints that baseball is boring ass…
Gotta make something happen this inning…
I’m gonna make another strong cocktail—how’s that for a start?
Make it a double…
I picked up a bottle of Sunshine Rye the other day. I’m no expert, but it seems like good shit. Comes from Ramona—a mountain town down here in SD County.
I’m with you boys🥃🥃🥃🥃
It is unacceptable that this Fedde fellow is shutting us down.
Unfortunately, Mays, Stretch, Bonds, the Thrill and Kent are all unavailable tonight…
Just wiki’d Farrells. Started in Portland in 1963. Last remaining location was in Brea and just closed in June!
Wasn’t thrilled with Bochy’s LU tonight, snubbing Solano and keeping Belt in there..
A guy that with their only offense yesterday with back to back homers riding the pine is absurd..
I think we had a Ferrell’s over by the old tower records on San Antonio road— not swearing to that but we had one around this town back in the day. Singing Happy Birthday at every motherfucker that entered that place. Big assed Pablo Sandoval sundae’s too
They played sirens and had red flashing lights whenever they ran around delivering one of those Sandoval Sundaes….
A friend of mine worked there, and the turnover was ridiculous. All the bells ringing, yelling and noise around birthdays and the pig trough was annoying as fuck once you got past 14. But he did get us a shitload of nitrous!
Fat Bastard crushes kid in pursuit of foul ball.
That would be a great haiku. I forget the formula—would it qualify?
Fat Bastard feeding
A foul ball whistles by him
Small boy crushed in scrum.
I seem to remember Farrell’s had some big assed sundae thing that looked like a canoe of ice cream and sauces— the “Trough” or some such name…
Did you have Farrell’s down in Fresburg?
Yep
BFs visual acuity index or whatever that is must be off the charts bad for the Giants tonight. It’s that post- Coors thing…
The pig trough
I stand corrected it was called the Zoo.
More excitement in the stands then on the field..
I’ve had more excitement scratching a case of jock itch…
Def Leppard has a song called “Die Hard The Hunter.” Anyone know the tune? Check it out sometime. Cool lyrics about a guy struggling to come home from war and smoothly integrate into society.
Also has a guitar break that I’ve always loved. Not shredding—just simple stuff with the two guitar players playing off one another, but it sounds cool. One of my favorite deep tracks.
“You got no enemy, no front line
The only battles in the back of your mind
You don’t know how to change from bad to good
You brought the war to your neighborhood”
loved that tune! Started with a bunch of gunfire and shit. Every song off Pyromania ruled. That’s rare. A few ACDC albums were able to pull that off, too
That’s the tune! Helicopter sounds too!
i’m headed to youtube to fire that bad boy up right now!
I can listen to the first 4 Aerosmith albums with nary a bad song. Their first album is hugely underrated. The worst song on the album is Dream On.
“The Zoo” was the ultimate at Farrel’s if you wanted to see your parents cringe when they got the tab..
“visual memory index”. they were at -25.05 by far the worst for hitters on the board tonight.
How many Zoo’s could Moronta and Panda devour in a sitting?
I’d set the over under at 3.5
interesting. Maybe they’re putting more effort into the jobs and deciding not to get duped by the absurd framing technique?
Is this plays in the field, or calls at the plate?
Shit. Nevermind. Just saw the small print
You guys analyzed that Ventura-Ryan fight like it was the Zapruder footage. (Looked like a real fight to me.) But you inspired Loo to throw in the Oswald nonautographed photo with Jack Ruby. Speaking of Gary Matthews, he was in a fight once as a Giant and threw some haymakers. Ralph Kiner always said of Maddox something like ‘the earth is covered by three fifths of water, the rest by Gary Maddox.’ But he inexplicably dropped a ball for the Phillies that cost them a pennant.
You packed a shit-ton of gold into one post. Well done.
👍 Yes well done Pawlie
lol
Get away from my son Fat Bastard!!
Note the Budweiser T-shirt!
Fat Bastard feeding
A foul ball whistles by him
Small boy crushed in scrum.
haiku shaming!
I love our defensive swings on the first fucking pitch.
It’s like they’re just worried about making contact. No power.
As a kid, I saw a lot of Maddox at Single A Fresno Giants.
The guy glided in the OF, even then. He could hit.
I just looked up his Single A stats. In a full ’71 season of 475 ABs:
.299 / .356 / .562 / .919 with 30 dongs. 30.
He didn’t even stop at AA. Went straight to AAA the next season for 11 games. Then, right on up to SF, never to return to the minors.
Surprised to see he had only a .733 career OPS…
Oh. My. God. We suck.
Buster glued that, and the throw home didn’t help. Does Wash have ANY RBIs? Or did we give them all their runs?
Yeah, this one is brutal.
Giants actually outhitting Nats.
Basically gave this one away.
Worst game of the year candidate…
We have hit a lot of balls hard. Just not finding the ground.
Giants walked at least 8. Hard to win when you do that…
Only alcohol can help the pain of this nightmare🥃
Coonrod may not be ready for prime time. He’s probably got one appearance left to prove he should stay. IDK who is next up in Sac…
Conner Menez next up to start and bring up Jaylin Davis with him, they need a spark and he can supply it…
Then they’d need two spots. Panik out?…
They have a revolving door with these young guys in the pen with options, they need to be more creative.Panik could be one for sure.Belt to the freaking bench,Jesus put Solano at1st, why he’s not starting somewhere is on Bochy.Even tonight the second base men had to do a Richardson/McCovey ketch on that smoked ball by Solano, they need bats in this LU!!!
still only 3 and half back. Brewers had lost 5 of 6 Cards now 4 in a row. Nats had dropped 2 of 3 to AZ including game Dozier and Parra were on the mound. Lifeless last night though and important to get back at Phils/Nats.
and yes OB does matter. Btw walks and funkiness defensively, gave this one away. Soto was on 4 times I think only 1 base hit.
NO ONE was trading the next Juan Soto for 2 month rental of Bum and/or Smith.
Giants have to draft these guys just like everyone else does.
Z did pretty well at deadline and couple guys could help right away.
