Was It All Fake?
As major league baseball prepares to crack down on pitchers who use foreign substances to increase their spin rate it makes one wonder how this will affect Giants pitchers. Guys like Gausman and Wood and even Disco came out of nowhere this year to dominate.
This week an ominous spin rate drop for both Cole and Bauer:
Keep an eye on our guys, too……
have seen references to how often Gausman touches his hat.
Preface by saying I know zero about this, but I think what you posted Flav – could approach the stain that steroids did. I hope baseball is serious about this. Sheesh, these guys already throw 95-100 MPH. Couple that with my complaint that THEY HAVE TOO MANY FREAKIN’ PITCHERS ON EACH STAFF versus the old days, where they’re now able to switch them out like an Indianapolis 500 pit crew. Staffs need to be reduced and policed by the umpires per what Josh Donaldson said . . .
“Prepared with statistical evidence to back his observations, Donaldson believes the only way for MLB to enforce a ban would be with constant policing by umpires.
“If you want to clean the game up — because to me, this is going to be the next steroids of baseball ordeal, because it is cheating and it is performance-enhancing — the only way they get it through and to get it out of the game is if they get checked every half-inning,” Donaldson said.”
Thank you for sharing. Maybe MLB can get the game back to a semblance of normalcy.
Remember a year or two ago when the seams were supposedly so flat they were almost non-existent.
P!us the ball was juiced. Pitchers were at a tremendous disadvantage. This shit just goes back and forth.
I think the article below is like 8 years old…

Nice break for the sleep deprived east coasters this week…
Wood has had two straight bad starts, so yeah, this is certainly something to watch for tonight.
It’s obvious Matt Whisler won’t be connected in a spin rate controversy..
The spin rates are below average for 2 of the Giants suspects, while Gausman’s is at the average. Wood and Desclafani did pitch well in the past prior to injuries.
The 2309 rpm average is from 2020. Presumably it’s only gone up. D and W are ~100 rpms below that, Gausman is at 2313.
I guess Vaseline still does wonders.
Not sure if this was shared, or not, as I haven’t been on regularly over the past couple of days, but the Giants are supposedly bringing up Sam Long to start tomorrow’s game. The lefty dominated at AA and had two good outings for Sac.
For you gamblers especially Flav, was very interesting that the Nets went from a -1.5 fav when I bet them to a +2 dog last night. Doesnt that mean typically the pros/sharps were jumping on the Bucks to drive the line that much or is that the idiot public moving that line???
Regardless, the Nets are clearly even without Harden a cut above the Bucks, especially at home. My parlay with them and the Suns wad a nice score making up for the Blazers game 6 choke..
Bauer let everyone know couple years ago what was going on and of course mlb had its head conveniently in the sand. I think to prove his point demonstrated how it is done to probably an expert level. Probably a lot like Bonds seeing McGwire and Sosa obviously cheat said I am a hell of a lot better amd he went about proving it.
My oldest is out there in the Once Golden State with some buddies and caught their first game at Petco and head to Anaheim tomorrow Flodger Stadium Friday and then for some unknown reason heading to a Sunday Oakland game and then wrapping with next Monday night at Oracle…
BTW…Maybe not when viewed through your conservative lense, but it is STILL the Golden State.
I miss the days when Tate-LaBianca and the Zodiac were the signs of decline.
The bungalow next door to us just sold for enough to finance retirement estates in both the Dordogne and on the Adriatic Coast. Things have never been more golden.
The house we had in Menlo Park is now in the 3 mil range. We sold it for $90,000 in 74.
Only a matter of time before they build a hotel/casino at Spahn Ranch…
Tromp seems to be a decent fill in for Casali. At least he actually hits the ball once in a while.
Bart is making some noise…

Kat, for your amusement, Wisler’s slider, at over 2500 rpms, is likely the *only* pitch any Giant throws that has better than average rotation (I didn’t go through the entire staff). Whatever else the Giants are doing, they are not noteworthy participants in the spin rate revolution.
I read recently that California has the 5th largest economy in the world. The world.
LA metro is the second largest GDP generating metro area in the world, next to Tokyo.
I read that the other day, can’t remember where…
To me, the most interesting thing about the foreign substance situation is how immediate and intense MLB’s reaction was once the situation became very public. It was a “hair on fire” reaction. Probably because MLB is still feeling the humiliation of the Astro cheating scandal, and wants to jump all over any other big cheating scandals in a much quicker manner.
If I was a MLB pitcher, I’d never let a Front Office examine my balls..
Ah, where are the Reagans of yesteryear? Or the Nixons? California’s booming.
LOL…
Dick DHing and Belt back in the line-up (look at that 3-5 in the line-up – Bore Core trifecta). And we have a Grave Duggar start, too. Go Giants! Kick some Ranger ass…
1. LaMonte Wade Jr (L) RF
2. Alex Dickerson (L) DH
3. Buster Posey (R) C
4. Brandon Belt (L) 1B
5. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
6. Wilmer Flores (R) 3B
7. Steven Duggar (L) CF
8. Donovan Solano (R) 2B
9. Mike Tauchman (L) LF
Cool read on Crawford…had no idea on the milestones…classic example of local kid makes good.
https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/giants/brandon-crawford-set-break-giants-franchise-shortstop-milestone
Yes quite an accomplishment for Crawford and not only his 10 straight years at opening a season at SS the most demanding position in baseball besides Catching he’s having his best year ever at 34 and a certain A/S imo.Geez this sounds like Groundhog Day for his teammate as well Buster Posey.Another 10 year guy who’s doing it all as well and another A/S..
Friend on fb just posted that at yesterday’s 49ers practice Justin Skule tore his ACL and Tavarius Moore tore his Achilles’ tendon.
And the injury gods continue to be cruel with The 49ers..
all these fucking guys were using this stuff
1st batter for Texas with 13 pitch AB supporting the proposition of limiting multiple foul tips with two strikes…
Flores’ throwing, yikes.
A Dugerror moment produces a run..
Lopez keeps talking up the Giants right before they whiff.
Tauchman, that poor SOB.
I noticed Wanda Peralta pitching for the yankers the other night. He’s been ok for them, apparently.
Dick injured himself swinging in first AB.
Sheezus, these guys just walk onto the field and get hurt…
What happened to Dick?
Never mind. For fuck’s sake, they can’t even DH without getting hurt.
A designated hurt injury? only the Giants can do that..
Dick hurt again
Dumb decision by Wotus.
Maybe it’s time for Wotus to go on IL..
Personally, I could have done without seeing the last two super exciting singles with plays at home plate ….
What would you rather see?…
I would’ve preferred to see Belt hit that first fastball he fouled straight back into the bleachers.
Posey and Vosler were both out by a mile. There wasn’t anything exciting about those plays.
OK, sure, hard to argue that.
And, I’d rather get a blow job than a root canal…
Just a completely brainless call by Wotus…
Second straight game Wotus sent a runner who got thrown out at home.
Dickerson is the only guy that looks 100 years old as teenager.
Busch Stadium had the same CF camera view, I think. We’ve probably gone over this before.
Ataway Craw.
Giants shortstop hits go-ahead homer in Texas!
#13. I gotta go check what his career high is for a season
21 bombs in 2015…Crawford should blow by that number..
Nice way on your night breaking the alltime SS record that Crawford adds a bomb!
I was about to say Flem & Javy are laying it on a little thick about Crawford…
what he’s doing this year is incredible. That bomb probably put his OPS over .900 for the season. Brandon Fucking Crawford!
.910.
Exactly the same as the Grave Duggar…
Not too many guys get down the first base line faster than the Grave Duggar…
Fucking umps, he was safe.
The incredible GraveDuggar now is better then a replay video, ohh almost he looked safe dammit..
2nd mound visit Flemm yes I believe we all know but you that Wood’s coming out..
Bad time for Wood to turn into meh.
^^^ Same with Garcia meh..
Sockman better do something soon or he’s gotta go.
He’s become the outfield version of Casali…
Wood with his best Eddie Munster skank eye at Garcia before he finally got out of the inning..
Maybe Wood shouldn’t have walked the .125 hitter to lead off the inning.
Sockless continues to SUCK!!
But since they’re running out of outfielders he stays..
.179
Pitcher with 6+ ERA makes Slater and Posey look silly.
That was a really bad combination AB’s by Slater&Posey..
Miller and Lopez are raving about the huge size of the Rangers’ big reckless Covid pit crowd.
Wisler another stellar performance.
Wisler brought his usual magic. He and Tauchman are the fun twins.
I looked at that replay of the throw out at home by Gallo, with Wotus’ bad call to send the runner.
Looked to me that though the throw was way early and waiting, the TX catcher still quite obviously and totally blocked the plate on Vosler.
I thought that was illegal under the post-Posey injury rules…
Catcher can block the plate if he has the ball, or the throw is taking him into the baseline. Runner can intentionally run into the catcher in those situations.
If the catcher is blocking the baseline without thise reasons, then the ump is supposed to rule the runner automatically safe.
“those”
OK,got it.
Thanks.
Huge spot here for Wilmet…
Time for a Wilbur HR!!
Are not…
Wilmet just can’t seem to sustain anything this year.
He’s gotta get it goin with Longo out.
Good veteran patience by the Grave Duggar…
Yeah, we really need a good contribution from Flores.
Now or never for the Sock Puppet…
Tauch ’em all!
Ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!!!
Fucking Tauchman. What a bad trade that was.
I don’t fucking believe it!!!
Sockman GRANDSLAM!!!
Wow if a guy besides Casali needed a hit it was Tauchman!!
Belt is looking healthy. Oh shit. Dubious Dubie in at 2B for late inning D.
It’s been a few years since Craw has looked like this.
The Giants organization gets huge credit for helping revive the careers of what is no longer the Bore Core. They’re just the Core this season.
Giants shortstop hits a 3-run HR in Texas!
WTF is going on here???
Crawford in the field, Crawford at the plate–what a great game. What a great first half of the season.
Oh hell yes!!! Adios Pelota Number 14 For the Crawdad💪💪
