A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

It’s Falling Apart

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 5, 2021

This is the headline at ESPN today.

hmmmmmm I dunno, how bout the team that doesn’t have to trot out openers in back to back games? Jeez where is our savior LOG DOG when you need him?

Sadly, Log Dog can’t pitch every game. And he can’t hit at all which is something none of our paid hitters seem to know how to do anymore.

Too bad the rotation or what is left of it could have been set up better for this series instead of having our top three going against Colorado starting Monday. We also have no potential phenom’s in the minors to make a move…

Can we please induct Mr. Michael Dooley into the Flap Hall of Fame:

    Sept. 26, 1981

SAN FRANCISCO — Eight San Francisco Giants’ fans charged with a variety of misdemeanors stemming from a Thursday night brawl with several Los Angeles Dodgers in the Candlestick Park stands have been released from jail pending a court hearing.

The five-minute melee began when Dodger outfielder Reggie Smith climbed into the stands after Michael Dooley, a Menlo Park salesman who Smith accused of taunting him.

“Everybody who sits by the Dodger dugout razzles the hell out of them,’ Mrs. Dooley said. ‘It’s part of the rivalry and he hates the Dodgers so much. I was watching the game on cable television and saw the fight, but didn’t know it was him. I said, ‘I hope he’s not in the middle of this.’

    • gianthead's avatar gianthead said, on September 5, 2021 at 8:32 am

There is still a Michael Dooley alive in Manteca 77 years old which matches the same age in the story and he has a niner oriented email address. What are the odds it is not him?

    • Locojuan's avatar Bozo said, on September 5, 2021 at 9:00 am

Not only did Reggie Smith climb into the stands he was gutty enough to sign with the Giants the next year. I’ll always remember him playing 1B for us against the Dodgers, whenever Sax was on 1B and they threw over, Sax would always dive back in and Reggie would put his knee on his back and lean into Sax as he tried to get up.

I think we got what we needed out of this series. And that was the one win. The hope is we can feast on the Padres and Rockies while the Dodgers have the Reds, Cards, and Brewers all on the road.

Our toughest team down the stretch is Atl coming here. ANd the fucin Rockies in Colo. We have a big schedule advantage. Course we have to take care of it.

Talent gap is real but it’s been there all season and LA added to it with Scherzer. Urias was tough and lucky enough Giants missed hittable pitches. Posey had 3 good hits and looked better. See what Q can do today. Dogs use pen games on regular basis too, and lost one Friday night.

    • djloo27's avatar djloo27 said, on September 5, 2021 at 9:20 am

And Turner – another huge pick up…

      • willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 5, 2021 at 9:27 am

Yes but offset by Bryant for Zaidi, who reportedly was after Scherzer too Z I think is set up well to stay with LA this off-season and beyond. 2021 unqualified success and Dogs know he ain’t going anywhere.

      • willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 5, 2021 at 9:31 am

stay even with LA is what I meant, in terms of productive farm and intelligent analytic driven player moves. Off season should be exciting for SF.

Hey, if you’re going to win the series, AND the season series, why not do it against their ace. No one expects the Giants to have a shot today, just like at the beginning of the year, no one gave them a shot to compete.

    Shock the world, again.

Man I’m so glad I went Friday Night and secured my hard fought crazy win!!
I’m not a fan of stupid openers it shows weakness in a team when u have to do that imo.Giants burned thru 10 pitchers last night and for what? they were never in it.You do that again today and then go into hitters friendly Colorado tomorrow where BP go to die it’s not a good scenario..

    • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on September 5, 2021 at 12:47 pm

What choice do we have? Bring up a AAA guy and watch him get hammered? We are down 2 starters

  13. willedav's avatar willedav said, on September 5, 2021 at 11:11 am

Jay’s hammering A’s again 7-0. They give HR hitter a JC Penney blue jacket to wear before he gets to dugout. Says Genre del Barrio on it with names of all 8 countries players coaches etc are from. Cool story and they used to wear genre shirts to take BP in, expanded idea to real game bombs.
