Gotta Keep Winning
How much more could Kevin Gausman have stepped up yesterday? The answer: none more. He was brilliant at a time when we absolutely positively had to have brilliance.
Ruf leading off? Why not. How’s a bomb and a triple sound to ya? Thairo crushing two deep ones, Doobie with 3 hits, even the lumbering Buster got in on the act.
The first game in this godforesaken hell hole went about as well as we could have hoped for.
You guys know what today is right?????
It’s LOG DOG Day!!!!!!!!!!!
Great outing by Gausman. I was hoping like hell Kap would let him pitch the 7th. I mean WTF, he had thrown under 90 pitches, and it wasn’t like he had been stretched-out or over-used. And the Giants bats did their part.
But damn, in the 8th it got a bit dicey. HR by Rox would have brought them within two runs. No lead is safe in that fucking place.
And a BIG WOOOO FUCKING HOOOO, and a Weeeeee Doggies to boot…it is Lo-Dog Day!
Yes tremendous game for Gausman, solid 7. I look at boxscores for SPs that go 7, and yesterday he was one of only 4. And the others weren’t in Coors. Hope Giants can extend him and solidify rotation going forward.
Read Solano might be able to play in Windy this weekend. Guess would be Dubon back to Sac. Really don’t see future for him with Giants either. Just doesn’t have enough smart baseball sense.
Well, he plays the IF and OF with varying quality, so he may stick. Should he get a little game-smarter.
Disagree with him not having a spot at some point in the future. As Chuck said, with him playing OF and IF, and reasonably well, I don’t see the Giants dumping him anytime soon.
if LOG Dog can somehow continue his brilliance in Sherpa Land, wow, what a boon that will be.
Twin’s ability to assess infielders took a hit with this post

Panik is actually thought to be second baseman eventually..unless Crawdaddy shows he can hit at all I’d put my bucks on Keppinger as 2012 SS…
Don’t even recall Keppinger.
Yeah, I think I got into it with twin about Crawford a time or two. He was down on his minor league stats and amount of time there and I told him they were similar to Robby Thompson.
Go Lou Dog!!!
I’m still not all in on the Log Dog nickname, I guess Logan “Spider” Webb would be too easy. How about changing the dog part and going with Logan “Log Jam” Webb?
Everyone hates it. Once San dawg rescinded his sign off of it as an official nickname I knew it was doomed. Still, I’m going to try to keep it alive and hope for a miracle.
Awkward to say it though it looks good in print. Besides Webb gem, wondered what else might work off last name instead.
It’s still Crab face for me it’s to obvious with his squinty eyes and pushed in face.
Webb’s on a bigtime roll now with 14 straight games giving up 2 runs are less which is a SF Giants alltime record.Pretty amazing from a kid at one time struggled with his stuff but Giants kept believing in him and now he’s turned into an Ace..
Just hope his magic starts continue here in Denver, it’s not the team he’s facing it’s the park and altitude that could give up some stupid runs against him..
The alltime record of 16 games with 2 runs are less is held by a NY Giants pitcher with an awesome name Ferdie Schupp back in 1917?
A.K.A. Schupp Dogg…
Now that works!!!
Separated at birth?
“Todd”, the amoral gang member murderer on Breaking Bad, and Logan Webb…

Minor wrist discomfort for Bryant. He sure looks bad lately.
Wonder if he got it on that ill advised head first slide that supposedly just hurt his pinky.
In the days when fundamentals mattered only Pete Rose could do it without being criticized…
Might have been on the ill advised dive in right field last night that went for a triple..
You right, Kat…
Seems like no consensus on a nickname for Webb. Log Dog just doesn’t work for me. “Log” makes me think of taking a dump and dropping a big log. LOL…
I am running with Lo-Dog.

Logan was whiter than white…
Lol

Dubon isn’t better hitter than Flores or Estrada. Even if Belt and Solano aren’t around next year, I don’t see him. For OF Ramos Slater Davis take over as RHs, and if Bryant is signed by SF, even less room Odd man out, imo
But Giants love guys who play multiple positions (IF/OF). Time will tell. He may get traded at some point, but no way I see them DFAing the kid.
And Yaz and Wade for LH’s as Dickerson opens up a Philly cheese steak franchise with his dad..
That may be true, but Davis has yet to play more than 3 weeks without getting hurt. Flores is slow and getting old and fragile himself. Solano is older and more likely to bounce. Dubon is young and versatile. 1st base doesn’t play into this anyway. That will be Ruf and someone else.
Ruf almost killed 2 people there yesterday, He’s just a DH. Flores has cheap option and hits with power. Decent glove/suspect arm, can cover 1b 2b 3b. And we all know that Longo ain’t going anywhere for another year whether Bryant signs here or not.
Fuck Longo. They can eat that contract. And Flores does no good hurt all the time. Which is why Belt need to go. We can find a decent 1st baseman from any number of candidates. Fricking Wade can play there.
The point being they are not going to keepo Solano/Flores over Dubon. No way no how.
Solano no. Flores and Estrada over Dubon. Flores has power and takes good ABs, Dubon does not. With DH next year it will be an extra power guy in lineup every day
I’m at the point to give the 3rd base job to Tyro. Longo is just a shell of himself. He’d better start hitting soon or he will be bench fodder,.
We know that they will run Longo out there next year and expect Belt back. Maybe they give Belt just a one year deal. Jaylin Davis is not liekly on the roster next year. KB is obviously a must re-sign and then Yaz and Wade in cf and rf with Slater playing right against lefties. Unless they do the improbable and pursue Marte for cf. I am also now wondering about Semien (since they wont be looming at an every day ss lo ike Seager or Correa) and him playing 2b and ss against lefties.. thoughts? Semien has had a solid year and if Crawford falters next year you Have Semien ready to take over or start in 2023. Can La Stella play a little cf???
You and I may be the only SF fans who think Belt has a chance of signing with SF again. Besides the excellent stats this year and last, scroll down to the Juan Soto bit to see why it’s more likely than most think it is

Zaidi loves that shit, and rightly so …
I heard a KNBR interview with Susan Slusser earlier this pm, she basically said, in not so many words, that Flores’ hammy was not good, he might not be ready to go for several weeks, and worst case not for rest of regular season. That loss hurts, big time. This is what happens when you have an S load of older players that are key cogs in the wheel — they get hurt a lot, and if you don’t have a AAA substitute worth a darn, you’re hosed for the role that the injured guy plays. Flores can hit, and though not super well, he plays various IF positions, which is big on this team…
Wilmer is 29 years old … He is a pretty valuable utility player. I’m always hopeful when he’s at the plate. He’s hitting 249 and slugging 438. Some players just seem far more productive than they actually are.
He’s an old 29 …
Mr. Ed can still turn on anyone’s heat and he’s gotten a lot of clutch hits in his career.
Hope Slush is wrong about his sesamoid…
I wish I’d been an old 29.
I don’t think anyone would want the word “log” in their nickname. Just sayin.’ Even Abe Lincoln was the “rail-splitter,” not the “log-splitter.”
I get a little shiver just thinking about Ruf crashing like a cannonball into other Giants players yesterday. Yikes.
What? No Ruf in the lead-off? And no Bryant…hope he isn’t banged-up too badly.
But we do have Lo-Dog on the bump!
1. Tommy La Stella (L) 2B
2. Brandon Belt (L) 1B
3. Buster Posey (R) C
4. LaMonte Wade Jr. (L) LF
5. Brandon Crawford (L) SS
6. Evan Longoria (R) 3B
7. Mike Yastrzemski (L) RF
8. Steven Duggar (L) CF
9. Logan Webb (R) P
Longo goes long tonight…
As will the Grave Duggar…
Liability issues with Ruf on the infield…
Probably just a day off…I will be surprised if he is not back at the top of the line-up.
Anybody like Web-Lo?
Reminds me of the forgotten Pueblo incident…
We don’t have a great history with hostage situations, do we?
My dad was stationed in S. Korea at the time. It was like he had suddenly been transported to the Mekong Delta to certain death.
Were we just too bogged down in Nam to take any action, James?
It might have made a good distraction to resume fighting on that front, since the Korean War hadn’t really ended.
There was so much going on in ’68 – the Pueblo mess spanned the entire calendar year…
Good that Posey hit the ball hard yesterday. We need him to be solid the rest of the way after his bad 3 weeks
Logan “Whiff” Webb?
LOG DOG
Lo-Dog. LOL…
“The likelihood of one individual being right increases in direct proportion to the intensity with which others are trying to prove him wrong.”
Bullshit but it sounds so good……
Hey little pitcher, what have you done
Hey little pitcher, who’s the only one
Hey little pitcher, who’s your superman
Hey little pitcher, who’s the one you want
Hey little pitcher, shotgun
It’s a nice day to start again
It’s a nice day for a White Webbing
It’s a nice day to start again
“I am the Webb-man
They are the Webb-men
I am the starting pitcher tonight
Goo goo g’joob”
Since Webb’s on an incredible streak right now I will just go with Logan’s run..
Log Dog it is…
Not. As you said, everyone (else) hates it.
Was San Dog’s only issue the pronunciation?
It’s not Log Dog,that’s more for Flores who exited the game to drop a log while Kapler was left bewildered 😳 what happened to him..
Has this been verified, Kat?
He had a ham log combination going on, just didn’t want to turn it into a field dump, so he was hamstrung and headed to the clubhouse sweating from too much peer pressure..
Poor Mr. Ed…
Foul ball…
Diggin’ those Doubles.
3 in a row yields 2-0; now let’s get more runs…
Old guys continue to rake. Belt making quite a case for himself.
Let’s replay that part from yesterday where we score early and score often.
Pitching coach for Rockies has to be one of most thankless jobs in all sports
Longoria did that intentionally to keep Chi-Chi in the game…
I’ve heard Giants broadcasters say things like they need Longo to win the division. I’m not sure that’s the case, he was gone for two months and they nonetheless did far better than just alright. He seems not particularly productive since coming back…
Watch him fly!!!!!!
Pour it on, let’s not stop at 4-0 ! …
Lo-Dub!
LaStella gets in on it — 5-0 !…
Batting practice from Chi Chi —
8 hits over the first 11 ABs…
Black on phone again. Good guy he should be able to get a real job in a real park.
Duggar Triple and a Webb smokin double, killing Chi Chi Rodriguez..
and now only a single for a LaStella for another run!
Knocked out their starter in 1.1. 😂
1.1 innings 8 hits 5 runs all earned as Chi Chi ERA rises to 6.50 for the season.Who really wants to be a pitcher in Colorado?
2 dps though. Need 12 before I feel ok
Look at it this way. Since Longoria is only playing 60th game he should be fresh for stretch drive. He also is .900 OPS guy and solid 3b. Giants have won plenty of times he’s started, and Kap will keep doing it as long as he’s OK.
i’d dump his ass like a hot rock in the offseason if someone would take his outrageous salary, and use it to get a couple of starters, which they’re going to need, since nobody but Webb is under contract…
Just don’t see it.
They haven’t ate $ since Rowand, I think.
I used to constantly propose deals swapping bad contracts.
I stopped doing it cause they never seem to happen anymore…
Probably not considered a true salary dump, but they did eat Cozart’s 12+ mil to get Will Wilson from the Angels.
Nice work, Bozo
Zero recollection of that.
Hadda look it up…
Grave Duggar could go for the cycle tonight…
He’s come back up with a vengeance, like he doesn’t want to go back down again…
GD can take all of Dickerson’s AB’s the rest of the for all I care..
Year
Time to Add ON ! …
Time to cash in again!
Grave Digging it baby!
Did t see dig dug coming back this hot. Most excellent
He has his shovel out tonight…
Duggar most definitely doesn’t want to go bac to Sac.
Way to Add On ! …
It was a Smash another Graveyard Smash!!
They’re’s your add on Snarkk!
Damm bases clearing 2nd triple!
Who does he think he is McCovey against Robin Roberts in Stretches big league debut?
Cards sucking it against LA — down 5-2 in the 8th…
Would like to see Webb take it through 7 …
Looks like you’ll get your wish Snarkk. Hell, another efficient inning like that and he could start the 8th.
Cards worthless again tonight.
Lou Dog!!
Our only hope is Milwaukee.
Does everybody need a nickname? Can’t force a nickname, it will just happen (a la Loo coming up casually with GD). It used to be like nails on a blackboard for me when people called Matt Cain “Cainer”. WTF. :-p
James, count me in on Belt being back. He’s still one of the best 1st-baggers in the game.
Belt can be inconsistent or injury prone. Not both.
Logan’s Run is a great movie.
Yep, and add Farrah Fawcett 🔥
You have to be greedy as fuck in Colorado. Add on!
Yaz Bomb!
#22 for Yaz!
Absolutely Webb is cruising with only 67 pitches thru 6. He could go 2 more easily if they want him too..
The only thing in question would be if he gave up 2 runs and lose his streak of 2 runs are less giving up sitting at 14.. Save the pen some more then give the kid Castro a shot to make his mlb debut..
I want to see Castro, Kat.
Well I guess his stomach is feeling better for Yaz..
They really needed a HR in this game anyway..
I don’t understand why it took so long to get somebody up in the Pen.
He’s hit a wall, take him out…
I would let him try to finish the inning.
Kotter has a little history of that…
Streak is over. Hoping he can just close the inning with no more damage.
Damm that ends Webb streak at 14..
Schupp Dog at 16 still the most but over 2 seasons for NY so screw that..
That should be it for Webb, u would think with a 8 run lead Castro should get the call next right? Anybody but Brebbia!!
Yes, seems like a logical spot to unveil Castro Dog…
Here ya go.
Yeah wieners are popular in the Castro..
We need a couple more triples.
This 44 company makes the coolest gloves…
Alright Castro!
