A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

One. More. Win.

Well, there’s nothing new here. You want something you have to do it yourself.

I did have October 2nd circled on my calendar though:

Closing This Out

“I’m going to be in Reno on October 2 with BirdDog and Pasalon and some of my other main men from college. It would be quite sweet if we took down the division on that day….”

So while it would have been nice to finish them off yesterday, let’s make it so today. If I’ve ever been prescient about something let it be this. You have no idea how badly I want to dance on LA’s grave today….

      Nope.
      He’s dispensable for next season…

It never is with the Giants, ever.
The ‘10 and ‘12 World Series went real smoothly, but getting there involved huge mountains that had to be climbed.

Should of let Gausman pitch the 8th, he was only at 84 pitches and dealing.Doval closes it out in the 9th and they’re popping champagne 🍾 right now..

    • xoot's avatar xoot said, on October 2, 2021 at 5:00 pm

should’ve pitched El Comandante el Jefe Castro in the 8th. Compa.

Bryant and Longoria are nearing hologram status.

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on October 2, 2021 at 5:04 pm

Bryant’s swings are like he’s hurt or something. Not much power.
Longo age may be showing; and he had basically half a season off.
The HR machine has sand in the gears the last week…

    • xoot's avatar xoot said, on October 2, 2021 at 5:04 pm

going into today’s game, Bryant’s ops with the Giants was over .780, Longo’s, for the year, .849.

      • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on October 2, 2021 at 5:13 pm

Their both playing now like they’re injured. And maybe they are.

      • xoot's avatar xoot said, on October 2, 2021 at 6:39 pm

maybe maybe maybe. the Giants have not been clumsy dealing with injuries great and small. Buster asked for a day off today and he got it.

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on October 2, 2021 at 5:16 pm

I’m pretty convinced that something’s wrong physically with Bryant. My guess is he came back before his oblique was fully healed, and he’s having pain.

      • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on October 2, 2021 at 5:27 pm

We won’t know until after the post season is done, but he sure doesn’t look like a $200+ million player…

      • djloo27's avatar djloo27 said, on October 2, 2021 at 5:40 pm

Then they should both fuckin sit instead of hurting the team.
They did fine without both of them for much of the season…

      • xoot's avatar xoot said, on October 2, 2021 at 6:40 pm

that’s not the way the Giants have handled injured players, all season long.

  8. snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on October 2, 2021 at 5:07 pm

Assuming LA wins tonight, they will most surely win tomorrow.
Tomorrow, the Brewers only incentive will be to get on an airplane ASAP back to Milwaukee …

  9. alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on October 2, 2021 at 5:24 pm

Well I’m not conceding a Dogpile win tonight with Corbin Burnes pitching for the Brewers, he’s 1st in the NL in many categories including era /K’s per nine etc. A matchup of 2 Cy young winning candidates with Urias looking for win 20, but Burnes is just as filthy, so I’m glad he’s starting and the Brewers aren’t tanking it since they’re in..

    • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on October 2, 2021 at 5:38 pm

Hey, Burnes has incentive: trying to win a CY.

      • zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on October 2, 2021 at 5:39 pm

Or the manager shuts him down after 5 innings to rest him up for the playoffs.

    • willedav's avatar willedav said, on October 2, 2021 at 6:07 pm

Might want to send message they are gonna be ready for playoffs too.

  10. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on October 2, 2021 at 5:42 pm

So who had the worst final AB tonight?
    A. Bryant struck out on a pitch he missed by two feet.
    B. Longoria made an out while trying to call time-out.
    C. Posey hit a check-swing tapper to the pitcher in the 10th inning.

    • djloo27's avatar djloo27 said, on October 2, 2021 at 5:46 pm

      Don’t forget Grave Duggar’s 10th inning flop…

      • alleykat69's avatar alleykat69 said, on October 2, 2021 at 6:10 pm

      • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on October 2, 2021 at 6:22 pm

        That stat is CRAZY.
With his speed, if he bunts a decent one he has a shot every time at a hit…

    • willedav's avatar willedav said, on October 2, 2021 at 6:10 pm

Thought Posey should have been ready for the curve not the cutter. Melancon wasn’t going to take chance Posey would whack 90 to RF. Went softer instead.

That’s one time I wanted GraveDuggar as the Ghost Runner not the hitter.Total fail not moving Yaz to 3rd with no outs..

  12. willedav's avatar willedav said, on October 2, 2021 at 6:12 pm

Giants had chances earlier and couldn’t add to the lead. Ultimately cost them game.

  13. willedav's avatar willedav said, on October 2, 2021 at 6:36 pm

speaking of GD, here’s the difference btw his stellar first half, and altogether different second half.
first half slash line .287/.360/.485 6 bombs
    second half .216/.290/.371 2 bombs
July he hit .219 1 HR.
august 1-17 before being sent down to Sac for a month
September Oct he was11-47 but 8 of those hits came in 2 series at Coors in 20 ABs. So at sea level…
Probably beats out Thairo and Dickerson for last position player spot in playoffs, but…

    7-1 now.
Brewers brought in some stiff named Colin Rea, stats looks like he hasn’t pitched in MLB at all this year.
4 earnies given up in 3 innings, he’s been hammered and still pitching.
These teams are a joke vs. LA …

Willie, thanks for asking; yes, Saigon’s curfew is lifted, we who are vaxxed have our “green vax passports” (vaxports?) at the ready on our phones for moving around within the city… still can’t leave the city yet. Restos, bars, spas, all those “nonessentials” that I consider very essential, remain closed, so yeah, can move around now, but not much to do out there, and no taxis yet either. Nothing’s really changed much for me yet, but it is nice to see some people. Haven’t seen too many humanoids the past 5 months… I need a haircut and an ATM, haven’t been to an ATM in 3 months, cash on hand very low. Rest of the country is in various stages of opening up. Int’l borders of course still closed. People here are taking it slowly; afterall, suddenly releasing 10 million people from their homes, what could possibly go wrong….

Really sucked losing this game. Was all excited to wake up to a victory. Gotta win it themselves tomorrow…

  20. zumiee's avatar zumiee said, on October 2, 2021 at 8:25 pm

Yeah, no help from the over-rated Brewers.
The Dodgers steamrolled them in the playoffs last year. The Giants and the Cards are the only two teams that can knock the Dodgers out of the NL playoffs. Atlanta? That’s laughable.

Dickerson as a pinch hitter. Not lately, i count 8 strikeouts in September. Just because he is a lefty, does not mean you can count on him. Why not Slater?
