A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Oakland Sucks

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 8, 2022

Well, we took down the Bay Bridge Series and when the final out was secured I was having trouble even seeing the tv through my tears.

Yeah. No.

Anyway, this season trudges on and every time they win a couple of games I start thinking they could make the post season. This is what a .500 team will do to you.

Flav, congrats on beating all those other guys in DFS. So what is this Prop 27 thing from small Tribes that are on TV ads all about? What does it allow that can’t otherwise be done in California?

    • Flavor said, on August 8, 2022 at 7:17 am

Yes on prop 27 will allow Caifornians to bet on sports—just like 30 other states. The Indian casinos are fighting this for obvious reasons. The cause—$ to go to the homeless and mental health? That is likely bullshit and overstating what it will do but I don’t really care. I want to be able to bet a hundo on the Niners if I want to. I don’t know if the bill will pass or not but it should. We should be taxing the shit out of gambling and using it to pay for our cratering infrastructure.

    • Flavor said, on August 8, 2022 at 7:36 am

and just in case it isn’t clear, we can play daily fantasy in Ca at Draftkings, fanduel and other sites. But we don’t have access to their sportsbook. This bill will open that side of the website up to Ca—casinos in Nevada are funneling TONS of $$$ into the No on 27 for obvious reasons

  2. Flavor said, on August 8, 2022 at 7:37 am

it’s all so stupid if you think about it. We can gamble on the horses in Ca. Play the lotto. Play daily fantasy. But we can’t get on games? LOL that is dumb

    • willedav said, on August 8, 2022 at 8:15 am

Thanks. One thing I have read from “No” side (and no idea as to how true it is) is that paying taxes can be avoided by gambling sites so state doesn’t see perceived revenue.
Nothing against it myself–I never had much success gambling at anything, so I just stopped long time ago and too lazy to do all the research it takes guys like yourself to be successful at what you do.

      • Flavor said, on August 8, 2022 at 8:27 am

well, I get a 1099 from draftkings every year so i don’t know about all that. I do know there’s a way to claim losses against winnings and you can theoretically cheat on that and hope the govt doesn’t find out. But you can tax shit any way you want. For instance, at the track anything over 5k they take their cut immediately before you see your $.

      • willedav said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:04 am

Not for individual fans but that sites themselves get around paying taxes to the state, who don’t wind up collecting $$.

  3. willedav said, on August 8, 2022 at 8:19 am

Dog held Soto to 2-8 with 3 BBs in 3 game series. Yesterday none of guys behind him, Machado Bell and Drury, had even one hit. Dogs are killing everyone right now. This could be interesting series, and Pads continue to draw well.

  4. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2022 at 8:45 am

Steele Walker, come on down. Giants signed him. Steele was DFA’ed along with *gulp* Grave Digger!

    • snarkk said, on August 8, 2022 at 10:37 am

Nice to know Giants long time OFers are valued so highly by the league at large…

I was at an overnighter ( 2 rd/s of golf) up at Jackson Rancheria Motel&Casino when it was brand new. After the 1st rd of golf the group all checked in had some cocktails by the pool all good nice motel. The casino another story.Didn’t really know it was run by the local Indian community, but whatever I just wanted to play some blackjack and have some drinks.Sit down at the table and laid a bet down waiting for the cards. The dealer looks at me and just points where he’s about to deal, I looked befuddled and someone next to me said u have to put a additional buck up by the dealer which u get back when u win? I thought this is fucked up, but did it anyway, no choice.Still doing ok somehow with rules they made up on the fly, could only imagine what they came up playing Indian poker..
So then I go and try and order a Jack Daniels on the rocks, and the dealer said with a stearin face:We don’t serve firewater here!” That’s when I got up and left back to the motel and made my own firewater and got into a poker game with my buddies.Have never stepped in that place again, what a joke!

    • Flavor said, on August 8, 2022 at 8:58 am

i’ve never been to an Indian casino but this is exactly how i imagined it would be, lol

  6. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:11 am

Thunder Valley (the one near Roseville) wan’t that stupid when they opened. They were pretty much straight Vegas-style games with no stupid fees or hidden bullshit like that. You could find 2-deck blackjack but most were 7-deck shoes. The big thing was there were no cheap tables. It was all $20.00 hands, and this was around 2006. Funny thing was, no local police. They were all Federales. Black suits, white shirts, gold badges. Their demeanor was they’d rather bust your melon open rather that look at you.

They’ve gone upscale with a fancy hotel and concert venue. Havent’ been since we moved away. We’d go to dinner there once in a while as they had a good steak house.

  7. alleykat69 said, on August 8, 2022 at 10:09 am

Like a bad rash that won’t go away the Cult hero in are former player Steven “Gravedigger Duggar” ends up on another roster with the Angels, who was I’m sure looking for protection behind Ohtani in the LU with his occasional slap single followed by 3 strikeouts..

  8. willedav said, on August 8, 2022 at 11:24 am

Dubon is hitting .204 with Stros, slash line .266/.301 for .567 OPS. 2 HRs.
And unlike most of his buddies from 107 win Giants, could wind up with ring in post season. Aug 31 is deadline for guys on team to be eligible for playoff roster.

  9. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2022 at 12:14 pm

He, like matt Duffy before him, is the glue that held the team together and we fell apart because we traded him. Or Kapler didn’t come out for the Nat’l Anthem. or we traded GraveDigger. or we are old, slow, and hurt and full of other teams’ AAA rejects.

    • Winder said, on August 8, 2022 at 1:11 pm

There’s gotta be a bright side somewhere, Z must be holding back something.

  10. alleykat69 said, on August 8, 2022 at 3:40 pm

Steele Walker hell of a name, maybe his father is Remington Steele?
Are he could be a porn star going by Steele Erection?
Wish the Giants held onto Skye Bolt now in the outfield,so u can have unlimited names,Skye Walker?,Steele Bolt?Steele Skye?

Longo back from IL, for however long(o) he can stay on the field. Maybe a week? Bryce Johnson to Sac.

      • unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2022 at 5:13 pm

That’s pretty much the long and short of it.

If i was betting I’d give him 8 days.

  12. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2022 at 4:44 pm

6.5 out with 2 teams in front of us. Milwaukee and Sandy Eggo. Wouldn’t hurt to beat on them

  13. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2022 at 4:45 pm

    Dick Steele batting clean up.

    • snarkk said, on August 8, 2022 at 5:53 pm

      Friend of Dick Pole?…

  14. Flavor said, on August 8, 2022 at 5:53 pm

Longo off the Hologram List. He’ll be back on it shortly, I assume

  15. snarkk said, on August 8, 2022 at 5:54 pm

I’ll give Longo two weeks until he tweaks something else.
The guy is a walking muscle pull…

  16. alleykat69 said, on August 8, 2022 at 6:16 pm

Kinda like the Wheel of Fortune, but it be spin the Wheel of Longo, hamstring?, oblique?, ankle?concussion?,on when he breaks down next.
I’ll go 5 games tops, whenever they try and put him in the field, noticed they bring him back in the DH(Designated Hurt) spot did that last time I believe and that didn’t last long..

    • snarkk said, on August 8, 2022 at 6:32 pm

The next injury is his last as a Giant…

  17. willedav said, on August 8, 2022 at 7:12 pm

Line shot from Bart. Hitting over .280 (with power) I think since his reset/return

    • willedav said, on August 8, 2022 at 7:29 pm

      24-85 with 5 HRs from July 6.

  18. alleykat69 said, on August 8, 2022 at 7:13 pm

    • xoot said, on August 8, 2022 at 8:35 pm

july 4 game with my kids, LIncecum vs. the Astros, very enjoyable game, although their rangy, hyperactive RF did look dangerous when he stepped into the box.

  20. James said, on August 8, 2022 at 7:48 pm

    That was very nice, Joey.

  22. mrsprtdude said, on August 8, 2022 at 8:17 pm

Never thought I’d be excited by a team scoring one run with the bases loaded twice! Still no hits with sacks full since YAZ I’d bet.
One positive. Bart may becoming a hitter. .280 since coming back and dramatically reduced K rate. That swing on 3-1 awful. Same pitch he misses by a foot earlier this year. Now a walk. A sign…

  23. mrsprtdude said, on August 8, 2022 at 8:17 pm

Sorry Williedav. Just saw you beat me to it! LOL

    • willedav said, on August 8, 2022 at 8:20 pm

agree though great AB to get the BB and not K on that breaking ball out of zone. Progress!

    • xoot said, on August 8, 2022 at 8:52 pm

Joey has the talent to crush every mistake pitch he sees into the LF bleachers and to hit hot low LDs to the left side off better pitches. His opp field approach seems to be on the shelf for now. His arm always has been strong; his D skills including pitcher handling, just continue to get better. He’s not the problem.

  24. willedav said, on August 8, 2022 at 8:46 pm

Wood with solid effort. Beauty of K on $500 million man.

  25. alleykat69 said, on August 8, 2022 at 8:52 pm

If Kapler pulls Wood I’m going to be pissed!
    He never gets any slack..

  26. alleykat69 said, on August 8, 2022 at 8:58 pm

    Wow, we got the call.

  30. willedav said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:10 pm

wow second good play from Gonzalez in LF tonight.

  31. xoot said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:11 pm

    that was a great play

  32. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:11 pm

    Sucks that streameast is dead.

Got 2 minutes of game before it crapped out.

  33. alleykat69 said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:12 pm

Great tag by Bart and great relay throw by Craw!
Still pisssed they pulled Wood and u immediately see Brebbia screwup, lucky they reversed it..

  34. alleykat69 said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:14 pm

Padres stupid fans throwing shit at Yaz are pathetic..

    • xoot said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:32 pm

they’re bandwagon fans, new to the game now that the Pods are up there with premier soccer payrolls — mlb wants that infusion of youthful enthusiasm.

  35. Macdog said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:14 pm

On MLBN, we interrupt this Costas story about Vin Scully and Connie Mack to bring you what may be the biggest play of the game.

    • xoot said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:30 pm

am I the only one who never liked Scully, at all, when he was alive? And even less now? Maybe.

      • James said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:42 pm

His even tone and the dull stories were annoying.

      • djloo27 said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:46 pm

Well he might’ve stayed a couple of decades too long.
Flavor never jizzed over him either…

      • Macdog said, on August 8, 2022 at 10:00 pm

I wasn’t crazy about him mainly because he never shut up.

  36. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:15 pm

One thing I HATE about Miller is the play is over for 25 seconds, the teams are off the field, and I have no idea what happened.

  37. alleykat69 said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:31 pm

Wow I was expecting a Rodgers collapse and he induced a beautiful DP started by Thario!

  38. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:32 pm

Damn. Just saw the replay of the play at the plate. Hell of a job by Gonzalez.

Long way to go to get that ball.

Rogers with the DP?!? Wow. 3 runs here would be most helpful.

    • xoot said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:36 pm

Gonzo’s play was perfect, Craw’s relay was clean and strong, and Joey’s grab and tag couldn’t’ve been better. The ball was snowconing in his mitt at the end. That’s why I watch.

      • PaulinAsia Banh Bao said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:40 pm

Yeah, and loved the way Joey stood up immediately and pointed to the dugout as if to say, “Uh, no, we got him.” Great play all around. Almost reminiscent of the even better play in 2012 when Buster tagged Fielder’s fat ass.

  39. djloo27 said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:43 pm

Grave Duggar would’ve K’d on that 0-2 pitch.
    Gonzalez is a useful player…

  40. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:49 pm

Jesus. Doval is so crazy. Can we see a 1-2-3 inning?

  41. Bozo said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:55 pm

    A 1-0 gem.

  42. djloo27 said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:56 pm

  43. alleykat69 said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:56 pm

Defining moment for Doval’s career imo, and he got the job done!
Playoff atmosphere tonight! And he mows down Soto,Machado &Bell!!! Wood well deserved win , he pitched great along with the pen tonight!!
BALLGAME!!!103 on that last pitch WOW!!

  44. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:56 pm

Ballgame!!!! Hey, signs of life after all.

  45. unca_chuck said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:57 pm

    Doval comes through. 1-2-3. Damn.

  46. Macdog said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:57 pm

    A drama-free Doval 9th vs. Soto-Machado-Bell, of course.

  47. xoot said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:58 pm

wow. I was hoping for a perfect slider at the bottom of zone, but 103 get the fuck outtta here will do. Once again, Joey and Camilo, battery mates for so long in Sacramento, get to celebrate.

  48. alleykat69 said, on August 8, 2022 at 9:59 pm

Only have to reel off 54 straight wins to tie last year’s 107 total

    • Macdog said, on August 8, 2022 at 10:11 pm

Yeah, they keep holding off the next loss that’ll give them one more than all of last season.

    • willedav said, on August 8, 2022 at 10:25 pm

Magic # to knock them out is around 50 as well.
Just nice to see some good baseball lately.

      • willedav said, on August 8, 2022 at 10:29 pm

47, from Pads who hold 3rd WC spot.

  49. Winder said, on August 8, 2022 at 10:05 pm

Wow, sorry I missed that one. I love it when we win those 1-0 games. Sounds like we made plays instead of errors.
