One Run
Wheeler shuts a lot of teams down so I’m not going to use yesterday’s game to rail away on our offense. Again. It’s one of the worst constructed teams in the league (old, slow and weak). But we didn’t need to see Wheeler spin that gem to know that.
Like what Black showed. He should have been showing this for both Jefferies implosions. Just gotta stretch him out a little more and he’ll be yet another arm in the starting rotation that we can trust…..
If nothing else, the Giants could be building a pretty solid young rotation.
When I think of the things that have alienated me from baseball lately, one of the biggest is Scott Rolen in the HOF. Hall of Fame debates are a pretty tired subject but Rolen really ended all of em for me.
that is just sad. Nothing but ok but Jeff Kent not in the Hall. All politics.
Giants need to take at least 2 of 3 from Rockies. Rocks are a truly horrible team. If Giants lose this series, they should stay in Denver…
Rolen’s technically defensible, the HOF isn’t. Hasn’t been for a long time. See the List, w HOFers highlighted.

I’ve been a giants fan since 1955 and I don’t think I can take this team anymore. year after year they create a roster that is not competitive nor interesting. Farm system cannot really produce pitchers nor hitters of high caliber and free agency doesn’t seem the answer. I live in Naples and take a two hour drive up to see the Rays who have become my substitute favorite team. It’s the only way I can through a baseball seam.
Boch is in town across bay. Defending champs got shutout through 6 by Alex Wood, then Corey Seager hit 3 run HR in 8th and they won 4-2. Seager btw is hitting .227 w OPS he raised to .610.
A’s manager Mark Kotsay played for Boch in SD 2001-03. Team went 201-277 in those years. As Kotsay said in Chron, “I think there’s a lot that you can learn when things aren’t going well, when there’s adversity.”
See what happens at Coors. Giants play 3 there then return home for 3 vs. Reds (16-18), currently on 5 game losing streak themselves. Reds host DBax (15-20) for 3.
RCs news from Sac: Ramos went 2-4 Sunday w HR, and OPS is at .951. Matos unfortunately continues to struggle. 1-5, batting .212 w .648 OPS and homerless in last 25 games. Obviously not taking anyone’s ML roster spot til he turns things around. Schmitt 0-4 Saturday batting .276 w OPS of .763.
Luciano 0-4 Sunday OPS .773 and has 107 wRC+ so slightly above league average. Giants did add another C to Sac, promoting 2019 draftee Brandon Martorano from Richmond, and he went 4-7 on weekend and homered in 5-4 loss Sunday.
we really need to get something out of Snell. We can withstand this type of anemic hitting as long as we have a top 3 starting rotation. Chapman is just going through a stretch and is obviously pressing. He’s still power, he can still hit for at least this year. Get Bailey back. The hitting should come around. I know this is a weird comparison but this year’s Giants are a LOT like the Detroit Tigers at least in terms of not being able to hit but having a productive pitching staff. And i know Detroit has a much better team ERA. But I totally trust our pitching staff and that team ERA will start to come down especially if we can get Snell back soon.
if the Giants lose the series in Denver, by the time they get to a rest day next Thursday they could be close to sharing the cellar with the Rockies Luckily, I suppose, the reds are a bit dinged up. Of course Philly was, too, after Trea Turner injured himself sliding into home in their first game.
Saw “today in sports” on X highlight from 35 years ago, as Jordan hits game winner over Craig Ehlo in playoff game. Ehlo played college ball at Wazzu for Coach George Raveling who is still alive at age 86.
Watching Cards-Mets, Craw just made nice diving stop and flip to 2nd for forceout and saved a run.
Soler out because he’s “still not feeling a hundred per cent” uh huh.
Pillar’s hit two home runs tonight and Dejong got a bomb too lol
It just seems like automatic that the Giants have to start with a DP!!
One of things that helps make Coast League hitter friendly is beside Reno there are elevation yards at Salt Lake City and Albuquerque. Plus all the warm weather yards like Vegas OKC and 3 in Texas, El Paso Round Rock and Sugarland.
Supposed to be 90 in Sac by weekend, along w Texas.
Time to start putting up crooked numbers.
yep. Feels like we’re gonna do that all night.
Next inning fer sure.
Would have been good time for Flores to unload. Hudson not throwing fastball over 90 and using lot of offspeed.
Coming in ERA was almost 6.00, FIP 5.00.
Giants have had guys on in every inning. sigh
giants are gonna wear this palooka out on pitch count and then do pretty much the same with the palookas in the Rockies shitty bullpen, but will they score a run?
I’m amazed they started swinging the power bats.
Look at this attack 2 road kill hits for a 1-0 lead!
Another chopper for a 2nd run as they finally knock this pitcher out of the game!
Can they possibly add on against former Giants New Kids on the Blach?
And they do with their best player Late Night Lamont Wade for a 2 RBI hit!!!
Finally!
A 4 spot!
Ok, now dats what I’m talkin about.
Gotta get a couple more this inning.
I meant next inning.
Pence with his novel theory of getting jammed as signifier of good hitting with Nick Ahmed as his exemplar. That’s entertainment.
Has there ever been a less serious TV sports analyst? Maybe Dennis Miller on Monday Night Football.
he made that comment when Lee was in the box. wtf? How am I supposed to read s book and watch the game too with that sort of commentary confusing things?
Did you get P Everett’s “James”? Fantastic adventure.
not yet. I will. I’ll get around to watching the Hollywood version of Erasure, too, but not with as much zeal.
Keep dat line moving.
Chapman started the 4-run inning with a walk, that’s about the most he can contribute at the plate.
he ran the bases well
Yes he did.
Pathetic hitting with RISP by Yaz and Chapman…
Lee’s quick intelligence showed on that play, bypassing first base to avoid the collision, knowing he could double back.
Harrison, here comes the sun, with rays of hope for the Giants.
Gs website says Gettin It by Too Short is his warm up tune.
Dirty Harry dominated as much as Clint Eastwood tonight, showing the Rockies “Do you feel lucky punk? trying to hit my stuff..
Whoa Thairo nice play
A solid game at 2B tonight.
I think Hunter’s a bright, knowledgeable guy. But he often sounds like the buffalo in those sports bar commercials.
Doval 2 walks, unreal.
Dats a W.
Shutout at Coors! Another damn good start by Harrison, second straight at a tough road park.
A horse named Kyle.
Igor and Loo’s Rangers win in double OT on power play goal.
The NBA is turning the page into a new era, with SGA, Ant, and other new stars.
And maybe Clark can get people to care about the WNBA.
Reds lose 6th in row to DBax and Phils won 7th in row over Toronto 10-1. All 4 NL West teams not named LA under .500. Hopefully today’s game got some Giants fans off the ledge. As Melvin said, up to week ago they were 1 game under .500. 5 more months of baseball to play.
5 runs! a miracle!
