Washington, Padres, Tampa
Honestly, this homestand scares me. Forget for a min we lost 6 straight in the last one. Washington has one of the worst pitching staffs in the league. Why do they scare me? We should smash those arms all over the yard. But still……Padres are obviously going to be tough. And Tampa is just one of those teams that always plays hard as fuck no matter what their record is.
Pads are hot. All about them at this point.
The Giants will just Jeckyll and Hyde their way through the rest of the season I’m afraid.
Hot and cold running .500 ball.
Beginning today, the 3 NL WC teams are:
Cubs: 48 Losses
Padres: 51 Losses
Mets: 52 Losses
_______________________
Still in the hunt, I guess:
Reds: 56 Losses
Giants: 57 Losses
Cards: 58 Losses
Marlins: 58 Losses
DBacks: 61 Losses
You mean, if the season ended today, the Cubs, Padres, and Mets would be in the playoffs?
Why does everyone hate me?
Hah!
This makes more sense to me.
Why don’t you stop trying to “one up” me and go derail a train or something?
I’m going off the rails on a Crazy Train 🚂
Derailed at the Flap Station as it still stood sideways fighting for that last WC spot..
numbers don’t mean anything to me. I need the visuals

You a fan of polluting rivers?
I think Blade summarized it perfectly yesterday. Regardless of what transpires the next two months, Posey has righted a floundering ship and given it direction and purpose. Posey has built a foundation and now needs to deftly acquire more pieces to fill holes in the roster. I am optimistic about the Giants future but believe it will take time.
I also agree with Chuck this morning who said the Giants will likely Jekyl & Hyde their way to a .500 season. But if the Giants want to prove their future is now, then go out and deliver a 6-3 homestand and stay within striking distance of Mets and/or Padres. But if their future is 2026/2027/2028 I’m OK as long as Posey and Minisian stick to plan and strengthen roster.
Thanks Dean . . . Quite impressed with Buster. When he was hired, I did NOT think he would be as independent (or perhaps, I should say “true to himself”) as he has shown himself to be. A head nod to ownership for recognizing that Buster is no less competitive in the board room as he was on the field. His authenticity really stands out!
Devers has played in 116 games. Giants have played in 115. Adames and Ramos are near at 114 and 113. I think they need the occasional rest day.
Is 14 games over .500 too high a hill? 88 wins looks like it might be the path into the playoffs.
That’s a 30-17 clip.
Yep. I said days ago that the Giants had to play .630 ball at that time to get to 88-89, which would put them likely in a WC, probably the last berth. There is no way in hell without a very weird convergence of events in their favor, that they can play that level of ball the rest of the season. Another way to put it, MLB.com has Giants at under 10% shot at the WC. My hope for that the rest of the season is they find out more about their AAA/AAAA players so they can use that info for definitive off season moves. With Encarnacion out, I really want to see that ex-Met Gilbert fellow come up and try the OF. We’ve seen Matos, why let him flail more with the big club. Gilbert is left-handed hitter, so what? Bring him up…
25-22 .532 gets the Mets to 88. Definitely want to see the guys they heisted for Tyler up here ASAP. I have high hopes for that trade…
Buster Posey WAR watch: 2.8 through 115 games
Gage, Lucchesi, and Butto account for nearly half of that total. Devers and Verlander have added nothing, and Adames is on pace for a modest 2.3 total, the lowest mark of his career playing a full season.
Eldridge 0-4 with 4 Ks last night in Sacramento. Gilbert 1-2 double 2 BBs and steal, playing RF.
box I saw said matos played RF v the space cowboys yesterday. Gilbert apparently subbed in for Luciano in LF toward the end w no ABs. Tweeters made a big deal about Gilbert not starting. (“It’s probably no big deal, but…”)

Thanks for box–you’re right xoot, box and report I saw from MCC was from Wed. game where T McDonald had good start.
Who the fuck are the Space Cowbys?!?
gee, I don’t know. What mlb franchise would have a aaa team with an astral moniker?
Gee, I don’;’t fucking know, Xoot. I thought I was up on the minor league teams out there, but I’d never heard of them.
They’ve been the space cowboys for eons. Or 2 seasons.
Here; you look hungry.
Eat a bag of . . .
fuck off
Eastwood,Jones,Sutherland,Garner The movie Space Cowboys which is really good, that’s all I got 😂
Astros. Sugarland TX is somewhat near Houston iirc–company had mgr. from there, really nice guy I met couple times, last one in October 2019 in Vegas. Transplanted Eagles fan…sitting on top of the world now I guess. He had told me big flood got near there but didn’t force any evacuations.
I know some people from sugar land. They’re well heeled.
for shit-kickers
just upper middle class Texans.
I’ll always think of Hurricane Harvey as Joel Osteen’s ultimate blunder. He could have elevated himself from just another televangelist to American hero…
Shit-kickers
The Giants can’t be 8 games out of the third WC spot at the end the weekend. Hope will not have been kept alive.
Mets, losers of 8 of last 10, at Brewers this weekend. Any luck and Giants could pick up couple more games in all important L column.
Agree on that James, but I don’t see why that 26 man roster can’t be improved.
Rocket Man Seymour 5Bombs in 10 innings sucks bigtime, same with Beck he’s constantly getting hammered.McCray’s been terrible as well.
Figuring that Jerar is heading to DL ( hammy) I’m hoping they bring up Gilbert. Also the catcher Rodriguez who hits .300 every level, definitely an upgrade over Kinzer but we all know the Giants probably won’t do that.
Also RH Reliever Braxton Roxby who they got for Taylor Rodgers in the Giants/Reds trade has been lights out for Sac, and K’sa ton of hitters ( 30 IP 56 K’d) and gives zip homers compared to Seymour launch shots..
What’s weird is Gilbert,Rodriguez &Roxby are all a no on the 40 man roster? So moves would have to be made to call these players up?
McDonald has been hit pretty hard more hits than IP, high whip? but who knows? Just no more rejects of Hjelle,Black,Beck, some outfielders as well, Meckler,Johnson, etc..
Though in his final hurrah possible may be Luciano gets a final look with his 20 HR’s in AAA leading the minor league team even over Eldridge..
Yeah, it’s hard to justify rolling Seymour Bombsaway out there when we can bring up one of the new guys. As for anyone else with a pulse, do it.
as I predicted more or less yesterday Gilbert gets Jerar’s 60 day IL slot on the roster and the call. Wonder if he’ll start tonight?
Yes he is per mlb.com lineup. In RF batting 9th (aka second leadoff). Smith DH at cleanup btw Adames and Chapman. Lee 6th ahead of Schmitt and Bailey.
thanks
actually, Jerar went to the 10 day IL. Wonder why? Daniel Johnson (adios) dfa’d.
What do the Giants do with Dom Smith? Deavers wants to be on the field. And then there is Flores.
Just something they’ll have to figure out IK, but Wilbur’s gone after the season…
Very hot in the Central Valley as usual this time of year. A great time for a player to have moved up from the River Cats to the SF team.
Several of the biggest stars of the WNBA are out with injuries right now. It’s taken a little of the buzz off of the season.
The River Cats game is on TV tonight at the same time as the Giants. Amy G was the analyst in the booth for a recent River Cats game. She did OK. I’ve heard worse.
You’ve posted worse🤣🤣🤣
Aw, I thought about TF today. I really did. He was unique. He shredded me many times, but, in the big picture, it wasn’t as big a deal as I felt at the time.
sigh Amy G…how can we miss you…
The A’s have a woman play-by-play person for half their TV games. She does alright. I like her. She and Braden have good chemistry together. I like her more than the other Kuiper. I wonder what he’s doing these days. He just had the wrong gaff at the wrong time. Another broadcaster did the same thing a few years later, and survived it. Timing is very important
2 gaffes
What a pickup this guy’s been. Hope he has a big weekend…

Geez so the Giants are going with an opener Matt Gage? And then what the stiffs follow up with both hittable Beck and ”All systems go for Launch Seymour?”
Per ESPN, Seymour is receiving offers to pitch in next year’s HR derby…
Lol whoever the hitter would be it’s a lock he wins it!
“All The Rage” Gage (Stix inspired) is unscored upon in 9.1 innings as a Giant…
I think the Giants sweep the Nats. They have confounded us all year. Why stop now? Then 2/3 from Pads. We ALL get excited then they lose 3 close games to the Rays to fuck us up again!
Keith Hernandez explaining the various chemical interactions of pine tar, rosin and dirt on hands, bats, and gloves…
How’s it work on his Just for Men hair& mustache?
Brewers tie up Mets…
How great is the pitch clock (most of the time) and how much did Cory Gearrin have to do with it?
Pirates hand Reds L #57, 3-2 with 2 in bottom 8th.
The “AILC”
James Wood — another 6’7″ player. .832 OPS coming into tonight’s game.
Devers bomb!
CF fence, no prob for Devers.
Like you said Loco – “CF fence, no prob for Devers.”
Olney said this BS (albeit, he did say “too early to draw conclusions”) . . . “When Rafael Devers was at his best with the Red Sox, his swing was perfect for Fenway Park, where line drives and fly balls to left and left-center field would often find the Green Monster, or clear it. Oracle Park is very different, with its vast space in that part of the park. While it’s way too soon to draw conclusions, Devers is slashing .160/.289/.280 in his new home park.”
Devers was 2-38 at Oracle going into this series, so yeah he was overdue for a bomb.Hell the whole team hit’s better on the road.Real ugly Stats for many at Oracle Canyon..
Agree AK. My point is that Devers’s swing is so powerful, it doesn’t matter what park he plays in – if he connects, adios pelota!
Mets lose – tying run out at home ends it…
whoa! welcome to RF at China Basin Mr. Gilbert!
Nice catch by Gilbert, another 797 games and maybe we can compare you to Yaz in RF..
5-0 end of the 5th Boston over Padres, I’ll take any crumbs possible GO Redsox’s!
Yeah Blade I agree Devers bat speed will always play, he hits so many shots at 105 plus bat speed, no other Giant does that maybe Ramos next guy?
He dropped it, Bailey on 3rd.
Wasted.
Schmitty!
Gotta say, Teng gave us a pretty good 5 innings.
He’s a pitcher, not a thrower.
Every pitch has a lot of movement, he’s got different arm angles and some deception. Yeah, this guy looks like he could turn into something…
Giants sound loose…
Good win to start the homestand.
Haven’t seen an opener game for a while. Gilbert had some fun in RF. Teng pitched well.
Play the kids.
