A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Awful. Terrible. Embarrassing

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 6, 2026

It’s wild cause I really don’t hate the hitters in our line up. They should be hitting better. Maybe it’s the combination that isn’t working. Buster wanted “a gritty, grimy bunch.” I don’t think the bunch he put together is working. And I can’t listen to Vitelo speak anymore. He’s so full of shit. Talking constantly and making dumb jokes might have worked in Tennessee but he’s getting exposed as a clown out west.

I agree with your assessment of Vitello, Flav. I don’t want to go down that path, it’s way too early in the season and any manager deserves some time to establish himself, but I already have the sinking feeling that hiring him was a mistake. And the manner in which they’re losing games is not good.

“They won’t play this badly all year.” An echo. They’ll improve their stats enough to get to 500, maybe even a little over, but then another stretch like this will hit, repeat cycle.

Sad to see Winn hanging splitters the last couple of appearances.

I recognize making assessment of Giants after 10 games is akin to predicting outcome of election 15 minutes after polls close with only 5% of actual vote counted. But early eye test disconcerting.

Too many strike outs, too slow on base path and in field, defensive miscues reminiscent of last year and shaky pitching, particularly bullpen.

Clearly Vitello deserves time to either demonstrate managerial prowess or lack of MLB competence. But Buster doesn’t merit same patience. Failure to shore up bullpen in offseason with Rodriguez out all year and couple of additions recovering from injury and not available until midseason debatable.

Buster inked Chapman, Devers & Adames to long-term deals. So far results have been underwhelming. While history suggest Devers & Adames will eventually deliver, Chapman six year deal for career .240 hitter may be albatross.

Adames is a major disappointment so far. Massive contract, apparently with an MO they knew about that he’s AWOL at the plate for the first half of every season. Huh? That’s not good. No amount of cheerleading and gatorade-throwing clownsmanship makes that a good thing. He’s an older player, so he’s not going to get any better than his current average with the glove and a scattershot arm that is bad news with 1b defense looking like a massive weakness. Really looks to me like a rough signing over the long haul, a direct result of the Giants farm having nobody remotely ready to take over at SS…

It’s just so tiring seeing the same old problems. Ramos is not a major league OFer. He stopped short on a ball that landed 3′ away from him. 99% of the other MLB outfielders make that play. Yeah, it’e early, but Arraez is the only guy over .250. They banked on Eldridge to make the team but with him out, they slide Schmitt to 1st? Errors all over the IF. Adames needs to stop fucking around with the gatorade and start hitting. Bailey is in mid-season form missing balls and batting .111. Schmitt is actually hitting so DH him and leave Devers at 1st. And it is so nice to afford the luxury of a base stealer in Oliva when we rarely run.

And this doesn’t even address ignoring the pitching problems we all saw coming.

Anyone see/hear of an explanation of that boneheaded Chapman steal attempt in the bottom of the 9th with Devers at the plate? I assume that was a Chappie choice, not ordered from the dugout. The only rationale I can think of is to avoid a double play. But, that’s idiotic, because if you fail, you take a run off the table with your supposed best homer guy at the plate. In some ways, that tells me Chapman has little respect for Vitello, essentially taking a big risk that has major blow back for the manager to explain if it fails. If Vitello ordered it, I question what he’s doing. BTW, Koss is on the roster but I think has not played in 10 games other that throw some pitches during that garbage time the other night. WTF?

    Wow. Missed that.

Down 3 runs in the 9th there is absolutely NO reason to steal.

See my post above. New manager. New coaches. Same Stupidity.
