Is it time to ponder this question: Does Buster knows what he’s doing?

“So according to Grant Bisbee the Giants are dead last in walks drawn and yet top 4 in balls put in play which of course stinks with weak contact swinging at garbage pitches which of course leads to no runs.”

I’d say that when the offensive core of your team is 3 hitters whose value is derived from hitting with power and drawing lots of walks, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to impose a team wide put the ball in play hitting philosophy.

Like batting average with RISP, a low K percentage has no inherent connection to how good an offense is. There are some successful teams that do both well in any given season, but they are always offset by other equally successful teams that whiff a ton and/or don’t hit well with RISP. Both of these are the obsessions of discredited old school thinking and, unfortunately, that describes Buster “we need to balance the analytics” Posey. Bullshit. Put the nerds back in the front of the clubhouse now!!

Buster’s vaunted OBP depended on walks.

I wouldn’t overanalyze it. They probably just need a good old fashioned homo night in Woody’s shed…

      Are the nerds the homos?

I know it’s staring me right in the face but I still can’t believe we are this bad. I don’t think you can pinpoint blame when everything sucks.

Giants are close to last in ABS challenge success at 44%. Reds btw are tops at 70%. Maybe Bailey is still so deftly stealing strikes that it evens out …. Or maybe there’s a failure to plan and supervise.

Are as Strother Martin eloquently said.. In Cool Hand Luke

What we’ve got is a Faliure to Communicate!

This team used to take pitches in the past working good count advantage, now they’re hacking 1st count garbage the pitchers no this so no reason to throw a cookie in there..They are dead last in Runs scored,HR’s ,Walks etc..Nothing to get excited about that’s for sure!

Of all the issues with this team, that is about 7th for why this season is tanking already.

Pitching, defense, base running, hitting, drafting, FA signings . . .

Devers, Adames, and Arraez are nice pieces to build off of. Chappie will hopefully keep his hitting going and avoid getting hurt his obligatory 6 weeks.

But Lee is proving to be a bust. Schmitt has promise if he can keep it up. Bader is entering negative territory in his BA. Ramos is once again completely clueless out there.

Then there’s the pitching. There’s no help in AAA for this pitching staff. AA? Not sure.

Jhonny Level sounds like the title of a 50s era noir knockoff. But he and a few other position players , Eldridge first in line, of course, show milb promise. Meanwhile, Whiz is top of the pitching posse on the way? Bresnahan? Tidwell is already here. Grim.
