A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Who’s Gonna Hit?

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 28, 2010

We’re in sort of a dangerous part of the season right now, all teams go through it. We don’t have anyone hot right now, no one is carrying the team. At different times during the season it’s been Uribe, Torres, Huff, Franchez….hell, even Rowand. But right now it’s a bunch of guys looking around at each other waiting for something to happen. Finally we’re seeing the Dodgers pitching staff do what I thought they would do last year: suck. In our yard against this staff we *should* get our bats going again. I want to see lots of doubles and walks. We’ve no power and no speed, I’d like to see us at least be able to hit more doubles than we’ve been getting lately. We aren’t going to beat this team with a few singles sprinkled over 9 innings……

Managment has been fuckjng with Z all year.putting him in the bullpen to fix the set up problems? Idiotic. Z is an asshole there are a lot of those in baseball. If they’re trying to get out from under that foolish contract that THEY gave him I can dig that and that’s probably what they are trying to do. Hey, if they want to throw in 40 million I’d give em rowand for Z

That’s true, dennis. It’s just I don’t think of Nate and Ishi ever starting anymore. I’m not saying I agree, I just never even consider it an longer.

Z would be an upgrade over Wellemeyer, that’s about it. Maybe him and Kinney can form a dynamic duo in Fresno.

Defending Zambrano is not one of your shining Web moments, Flavoro…
Chuckles: that’s the goat you fucked in the road. Poor thing..
Stix: sorry, pal, slump or no you just don’t get established position players with his tools for some midlevel prospects and Tampa ain’t the Marlins- they are serious contenders. We could MAYBE talk them into taking one of our Big 3 pitchers but they don’t need that and we don’t have what they do need. Move on.

I remember when Chuck began his goat story over on the Splash. He told about half of it, then went on vacation for about a week. Couldn’t believe that Chuck checking out for a week would ever cause so much consternation with the regulars wanting to hear the rest of the story.

Chuck should leave more often, he’s better received after a break.

Chuck seems to go on vacation after downing a gallon of T-Bird the night before. Bet the kids love THAT drive to Yosemite…

It looks like Henry’s fed up with the Splash. Really who could blame him, it’s troll city over there.

Flav, I count this as Renteria 8th start since his return in less than two weeks…that is a\n average of four starts my friend…two more weeks to go to win the bet…

yeah, I can dig that. Let’s see where we are in two weeks…..
FRESH– why? Cause he’s abandoned it? He’s probably just busy. When you see him get “fed up” he’ll do what Baggs did and just run all the comments through a moderator. I’m totally cool with Baggs doing that, I almost NEVER read the posts at his blog. They’re all idiots. I read the blog for Baggs and Baggs only. The SPlash is sort of the opposite–Henry rarely gives me anything interesting but the characters who blog there are worth a read every month or so……

My take on Carlos Zambrano..fuck him and the burro he rode in on. The only thiing he deserves is a 2X4 across the head.

I think his teammates were so tired of the clownish amateurish act that once Derek Lee, the leader of that team, decided to tell him “to shut the fuck up,” that was the straw that broke Zambrano’s back with the Cubs. The Cubs revere Lee as their leader, so when he speaks up everyone in that organization took notice.

Zambrano will probably be finished in baseball.

    ESPN Preview:

“The clubs (Giants and Dodgers) are still in the mix for second, but they’re quickly falling out of the playoff race.”

In late June? Really? ESPN doomerism rivals that of some splashers!

How is Marty Lurie not destroying his competition in this poll by a country mile? He’s the WORST. I think you guys just haven’t listened to his schtick enough…
Zambrano isn’t finished, he just needs a new team and some lowered expectations. You’ve got no idea how bad the pitching is across baseball if you think he’s “finished”. He’s probably a *4* or so. Maybe a *3*. He could slide into that role if he got a new team that didn’t try to convert him into a fucking relief pitcher mid season…….

Shit. Just one complaint (Chuck) about Bengie getting the nod over Buster tonight. Have the rest of us just grown accustomed and accepted this nonsense? I’m pissed, but what can ya do? Bengie hitting 8th is really a killer though. Looking forward to the Zito sacrifice already. Jesus.

If the Baseball Gods have any sense of fairness, honor and decency the Giants will hit into about 30 DPs in all of the second half. Oh well, thanks to Torres and Huff the Magic Dragon there’s a tally on the board. As of this AB Huffster brought his RP/AB up to .337, a very nice figure.

“If the Giants had 8 tony gwynns”….I remember hearing a similar comment about Frigerator Perry: When he went home in the off season, it wasn’t good news for the chicken population of the state of South Carolina.

Good for Burrell…Andres needs to make the smart play (unlike that K) and cut that ball off. Sometimes the speed guys think they can get to everything and make dumb gamble dive plays like he just did. Help your team out and save a run, make the safe play.

Uh, no Kruk, he didn’t. Blake got the hand in first, but nice tag. Benjie’s arm is still strong, he still guns guys regularly. To be fair, none of the other guys are hitting very well at his position either right now. Honestly, if they can handle the PS, I can live with it.

Nice effort by Zito after early struggless. He came inside on Manny and blake, and they could only foul them off , and he got the DP. And his ERA stays right where it is.

Furcal and Torres are a lot alike…for little guys they swing like power hitters, miss the ball a lot and K a ton. Andres is a much better fielder, and of course Furcal has a contract worse than Rent’s. Just underneath I guess, but hitting the ball in the air to CF isn’t going to get it done. And not being patient enough tonite has allowed Barbs to stay in there, when we wanted to get to their pen as quick as possible.

First run produced by Sanchez in the most recent 11 games counting tonight. He was batting .200 over the past ten, with two of his hits doubles and neither a R nor an RBI. So he was way overdue. Ishi should get more respect from Bochy. Tonight’s double was good for raising his average to .324. Curiously, in his grand total of 34 ABs this season his RP/AB is also .324.
