3 runs in 2 games? No Problem!
It’s great to see our pitching staff get back on the beam. If we score 3 runs in two games and lose both the blog world would be imploding with rage. No reason Cain can’t keep it going unless you subscribe to the “METs are due” theory. They aren’t do, they can’t hit. They’re due for another bat or two, I guess……
Zito was the easy choice for POTG….
San Diego is only 17-15 vs The NL West– They’re what, 7-0 against us? Something like that. Looks like Colorado and the Dodgers don’t seem to have a problem beating them. They killed AZ last night. What has happened to Danny Haren?
Great win for Zito. Huff’s quote over at Baggs is great….
“I don’t think I’ve ever been that pumped up to score a run in the (fourth) inning. The atmosphere was great. It felt like a playoff game. Not that I would know.”
Yeah Flav, and that was in Dago. Their pen guys walked 5, hit a guy and gave up 4 uns on 1 hit in the 9th. Wonder how Gibson likes his team so far.
Rox drop another on the road to the Central, and once again Cards slap around LA starter as Barbs gives up 6 runs in 4, and Manny is hurt again. CBS sports in the story I read yesterday said LA had put Sherrill on waivers, after he gave up a run in an inning to hike his ERA to over 7.00. Plus they called up Macdonald, a bust last year as a starter at beginning of year, and in today Chron they have him listed as opposing Bum on Monday.
As for WC, we’re a half game out. Phlily lost at home to the Cubs, and their lineup is just not
up to it this season: Rollins at .240, Victorino at .250, Werth at .275, plus Ben Francisco .230, Cody Ransom and the Valdez kid for Utley at 2B.
When I see the Mets, I’m just so glad Sabes didn’t get Bay for $17 fucking mil for however many years. I realize they have missed Reyes and Beltran for a lot of time, but that is not a great hitting team, and Bay isn’t an MVP type guy capable of carrying them The guys that burned us when we were there before, Barajas and Davis aren’t doing much either.
Great start by great pitching. Trade Ishi while he has a little value and a starter and get Dunn or some other MOTO guy. Still like the Rowand for Zambrano idea for both teams as well. Pitching tailed off a little later last year so need some horses to pick up the slack in August/Sept and would be severely disappointing to fall a little short when they have the chance to win the division and go deep in the playoffs.
I totally disagree this lineup will be able to do anything in the playoffs assuming we could get there ‘as is’.
We have witnessed many unlikely events already this season.Stephen Strasburg striking out 14 in his MLB debut,Four no-hitters,two perfect games, should have been 3,and the NL actually winning an A/S game.but I can say without hesitation that Bengie Molina’s CYCLE against the Redsox’s on Friday night was the most improbable of them all.
Molina was 3-3 with a single, double, and a go ahead Grand Slam when he came to bat in the 8th.Texas manager Ron Washington standing in the dugout asked somebody,”Where does Molina have to hit the ball to get a triple? The answer:”Nowhere in this park.”
But he found the perfect spot,Molina hit one to deep center that glanced off of CF Eric Patterson glove and ended up in cut out the deepest part of the park the right CF corner 420 ft from home plate. So Bengie put it in his best granny gear speed and chugged it all out to third and made it,yes standing up.Way to go Bengie!!Truly a feat that will be remembered in baseball forever.
I had already been seeing some gloating over Bengie’s poor start in Texas. I’ve never understood why a fan doesn’t just wish a player good luck on his new team. Why would Bengie’s failure be a cause for glee? So ask yourself: are you a “God speed and good luck” guy? Or a “Good riddance, Fatso”?
Bengie had 5 triples in 13 seasons prior to last night, or one every 1000 or so PAs. That he hit his 6th in his *last* AB as part of a cycle is mind boggling.
I’d rather give the credit to the pitchers than say the Mets can’t hit…Also, Zito improved to 6-1 with a 2.51 ERA at home this season.
“Zito improved to 6-1 with a 2.51 ERA at home this season.”
I guess we should now call him Todd Wellemeyer II.
Looks like we’re catching a bit of a break by missing Pelrey and getting Takahashi instead. Gets a stiff neck and back from the flight into SFO. The pussification of America continues on…couple a funny quotes from the Panda while talking to the kids about nutrition at the American Heart Association. What’s your favorite food? “Lasagna.” Why did you choose baseball over soccer while growing up in Venezuela? “Because I don’t like to run a lot.” You can’t help but love that kid. Honesty IS the best policy. And what the hell is David Letterman doing leading the Open Championship? I think someone forgot to yell fore.
Twin—the computer arrived this morning and it is an absolute beauty! Thank you again—I can’t wait to get it up and running.
San Dog, good to hear it arrived safely. When you boot up you’ll notice some dialog about searching for drives, this is normal when there is a “RAID” configuration. After the RAID is discovered it will boot as usual.
Simply put, there’s exactly one guy in the mets line up that I feared going into thus series: David wright. And he’s slid into post all star break with one of his strike out binges. Cain should dominate tonight…
Twin, I got a couple emails from u about adding people to tourney; will do when I get home tonight
Torres CF, Sanchez 2B, Huff RF, Posey C, Burrell LF, Uribe 3B, Sandoval 1B, Renteria SS, Cain P
As I understand it Craig, Wright was injured before the ASG break and still isn’t full speed…
I like that LU but I think franchez needs another day or two. Supposedly he’s lost several lbs from the flu he had— he didn’t have too many lbs to give away to begin with
I didn’t hear anything about him being injured and he was hitting well going into the break. But maybe I missed him trying to hold back a sneeze or something 🙂
Anyone have info on the ‘why(s)’ of Ratto leaving the Chron, besides becoming a talking head on comcast?
Missed the whole game last night. Looks like my crack about Bonehead getting Zito’s dander up might have had some truth. Hopefully, the second half turns out to fit Zito’s pattern of 2nd half improvement (other than his first year in SF). And I’ll certainly give credit to Bengielena for the cycle and a grand salami in the same game. I’ll give him extra credit for doing the cycle carrying those 44DDs. My only question was whereinhell was that from April to June…
On May 19th Bengie had a .850 OPS.
I lied. May 14th.
Craig, it’s just James to add…
So the Dodger game is on and the Yankee game-they give us the Yankees. Idiots…
1 zip Cards…Kuroda was throwing a great game but has been replaced by Kuo in the bottom of the seventh
Ratto leaving the chron is nothing but good news for those of u who still read that crap. I canceled my subscription in 2008 and haven’t bought a paper since they fucked Barry with some biased articles/letters to the editor.
Snarkk, bengie always has a 3 or 4 hit gm in him, they are just few and far between. And Theres no arguing that Texas is a better place to hit
Barring a disastrous 2nd half and/or injury, Gmen need to re-sign Huff n Puff to and 1 and 1 ASAP after the season. The dude is a breath of fresh air. He plays hard, and has an air of honesty and fun I haven’t seen in a player since I don’t know when…
Maybe Snarkk and I were on the same page, I definitely gave Bochy the credit for Zito’s performance. More than the Zitman himself. FP and Miller noted his demeanor several times. I actually found it comical.
Welll, BF, after all last night’s running the bases for the cycle, Bengie’s been recoverying in a hyperbaric chamber the last 18 hours…
Brignac has 2 bombs in this game in watching. Gianthead et al should be ramping up their trade ideas any tine now 🙂
I agree, TF, incredibly tone-deaf marketing by FOX to not give Nor. Cal. the Dodger game. It should have been an easy obvious decision. Didn’t anyone at FOX give that decision even a few seconds of thought?
I wish we got the Dodger game too, but the Yankees draw the best ratings; here, there, everywhere. If Fox’s marketing research would have determined that the A’s and Royals would have drawn better, we’d have got that game. Then the world would have ended, but we would have got that game.
Door is open…2-0 final in St Louis
Door has always been open sanfrandodgerfa . . . Just a matter of us walking through it (grin).
Seriously, hope you are well . . . By the by, what’s with the new moniker (i.e., Sandy Koufax)?
I’m well, thanks blade…yourself? Always have liked Koufax and it’s my gmail screenname. Truth on the ‘walking through it,’ at least this year…)
Doing well overall – did quite a bit of travel for pleasure last year, which was interrupted by shoulder surgery in September . . . Completed physical rehab though, so am as good as new (LIAR LIAR . . . Umm, as good as new as the doctors can make ya anyway). Also trying to “downsize” my life by selling my mountain home. Otherwise, it’s all good Sandy.
blade, do you have an electronic listing for this ‘mountain home?’ If so, please post it. Understand the shoulder surgery, good thing you are so fully recovered.
I just noticed that my last post says, “awaiting moderation,” i.e., Flav doesn’t want unrelated Giants stuff on the blog (and rightfully so). Anywho, if you can’t see/view it, give me your email and I can forward it that way.
sanfrandodgerfan@gmail.com
and thanks
K . . . just sent it via my yahoo addie.
Time for Cain to shake off the rust and come out firing.
Go Giants!
nothing is moderated unless you use the C-word. That’s probably just a blip in the system……
Seriously BF?…we can’t use that one word here?…too funny.
Thanks blade, I just sent a reply…cool house, btw.
the Timmeh doll looks like a woman. Dude needs to change his look, asap…..
SK– I just wanted to use one word in the filter system to test it, that was the one, and I left it. I also had “fuckwad” in there but I took that out. I often get a lot of spam bullshit from online real estate ads (among other things) so if BLADE tried to post his house listing that probably got snagged. But I’m not doing it, that’s all wordpress.com……
Thanks Flav . . . Yeah, I think it does an “auto” on any links not baseball related and/or that sound like advertisements.
BF…I live in the Mission, near the Castro. It may just be that Timmeh is a bit androgynous…
j/k
Rox are getting hit hard tonite. 7 – 1 in the 4th. Possibly 4 of those runs are unearned.
Great start for Matty, let’s knock this chump around a bit. I’m calling a Panda yard ball tonight.
What is the deal with Amy? Sometimes she is lookng good. Other times (like today) she dresses like my grandma.
Is Cain throwing harder than 89 these days? Yikes
Dirt: agreed. I barely recognized her tonight.
Snow is a bit of a schmuck…take the ‘bit’ out
ok uribe
love it pablo..
Schweet!
oh baby
humm baby!
What the hell is a 5-spot? Haven’t seen on one those in awhile. On the board, or in my wallet.
This could easily become a third straight shutout with Matty taking us through 7 or 8.
FRACK!…is this guy for real?
Is he for real? Unbelievable what he’s doing. Wow.
No sandy, he’s Jesus!
wow..oppo power from posey is amazing
Sweet Jesus! How long until Posey puts one in the cove?
geez Posey …
Again, I’m so glad Sabes didn’t get Bay for $17 fucking mil…I know he’s put up OPS of .900 plus most of his career, but in a big yard like Mets play in, he’s now at .775, or 50 points less than Torres. Torres now has 8 HRs, too, more than Bay, and no doubt more range.
Kuiper is right, not many RH guys take one out like that. Man, Posey is awesome.
I remember an LP I had in the 60s by blues guy Fred McDowell, the one where he does a talking intro (I do not play no rock and roll, etc.) There was a track on it ,” jesus is on the Main Line”.
Posey’s infectious hitting is causing an epidemic with the Giants.
Posey’s arrival reminds me I’d thrill’s though his production and influence on the team might be better than what will did. Are they ever gonna pitch this dude inside?????????
I think he can turn on any inside stuff…as complete a ball player as I have seen in some time
Haven’t seen that he turns on the inside pitch but he does fight it off.
Even better…going with the pitch, if you have the eyes for it, is what all great hitters do
He sure doesn’t look like a rookie. Probably hasn’t been one since he got his driver’s license.
Well the next step won’t be too long coming-they start busting him inside. But can you imagine what he’d hit if he could run?
He motors pretty good TF-sarcasm?…my bad
He’s very slow of foot, Sandy.
TF, I have read that but he sure seems to move it when he is scoring psoition
Maybe you missed the pinch run brouhaha- Bochy ran Whiteside for him because Eli is much faster. His double was a triple for anybody except him and Burrell…
This is exactly what Cain needed. More than one run of support early.
But it was revealed later that Eli pinch ran because Posey was gassed. The public statement was to cover for Buster.
No, I saw it… I have actually watched him run since then and he seems to have good enough base path speed, from the plate?, not so much.
Amy doesn’t look like a granny tonight…more like an elementary school teacher…
Is there a difference?
Whatfuckingever-he’s not fast. Good enough for ya?
