A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Stick a fork in them……

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 17, 2010

The Dodgers are done, man. Their collapse really is astounding when you consider the talent they had on that team to start the year. But Kemp got Hollywood-on-the-brain and decided it was more fun to date Rihanna than it was to work on his game. The broken thump slowed down Ethier. And as I said a few weeks ago when I watched him warm up, Broxton is hurt (though they say he’s fine–curious when he’s lost 5 mph off his fastball)……Either way, watching them go down with Torre fanatically pulling strings that are attached to nothing is funny as hell…….

Big series begins for us today–they’re all big from here on out. For some reason I feel like we are going to hit just fine in Philly. If our pitching holds up we could easily win 2 and maybe all 3. Still, I’m taking the over in all three of these games no matter what the number……

I knew 2 runs wasn’t going to win in this bandbox. Plus, the Phils have been playing pretty good lately. Nevertheless, the park can work in the Giants favor too and they can easily come back from this. Casilla did a good job to contain the damage.

Zito shaking his catcher off all night long is just another sign of his psychosis. BUster’s been catching and calling great games. The bullpen has been nails for a month and last time I checked he’s calling those pitches too……

I thought we were supposed to win with our starting pitching.:The Giants are guaranteed to go 13 games w/o a win from a starting pitcher. Starters are 0-7 w/5.97 ERA. Make it 0-8 if Zito takes loss.

    Need look no further.

    Check that, blame Bochy.

I’m not big on CERA, but when every pitcher is worse with Buster than the other two catchers, it’s a legit question. Whitefuck’s innings aren’t enough with anyone other than Dirty to list him.:
    Zito- 2.71 Molina 4.30 Posey
    Lincecum 3.23 Molina 4.85 Posey
    Cain 2.85 Molina 3.48 Posey
Sanchez (Molina just 4 innings) 4.61 Posey 3.15 Whiteside
    Bumgarner 3.27 All Posey

    • Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on August 17, 2010 at 6:27 pm

You’re “not big” on CERA? Shit, I recall you saying it was a worthless motherfucking piece of shit stat when somebody said Whitey should catch instead of Bengie because his CERA was much lower.

Last I checked, Buster only catches the ball. He still doesn’t throw it.

  41. Giant Head's avatar Giant Head said, on August 17, 2010 at 6:22 pm

The Rollins and Victorino RBI at bats had nothing to do with pitch selection. Both should have been standing at first and Zito should have been pitching to the next guy or been yanked then…

  49. Michael's avatar Michael said, on August 17, 2010 at 6:32 pm

I wasn’t into CERA when you fucks were talking Whitehead and his once a week gigs. Molina and Posey both have enough innings with Zitfart, Lincecum, and Cain for it to be valid. And Whitshit/Sanchez is valid because of Sanchezes 100+ innings with Whiteturd.
Fuck you, diispute it with some facts or sit down and zip it up.

  57. Giant Head's avatar Giant Head said, on August 17, 2010 at 6:41 pm

the starters have been inconsistent of late early in games. Too many pitches, too many base runners early. I dont think that is on Posey.

Lincecum has issues in his last three starts. Has nothing to do with Posey.

If they were hittng the zone early, the starters would not ha e been throwing so many pitches early.

Why was Ray pitching with bases loaded after getting them loaded in the first place.

  58. Michael's avatar Michael said, on August 17, 2010 at 6:42 pm

Lasyt year Molina caught 1042 innings to Whitecrap’s 314.
This year it’s Molina 458 Buster 330. A valid comparison can be made with those 2010 innings. It cannot with the disparity in 2009. Don’t ever try to go toe to toe with me on stats, logic, numbers, baseball ijn general, or BBQ…

With those numbers, it HAS to be a question. Especially when you have the circumstantial evidence (rookie, coverted infielder, kept in the minors to learn to call pitches, etc) to support it.

Now … why the veteran pitchers don’t know what to throw, I don’t know. I don’t think Posey caused Lincecum to start throwing the ball every which way, but on the other hand, the number of two-strike and two-out hits does suggest there might be a deficiency in strategy as well as execution.

    • wswinb4igo's avatar wswinb4igo said, on August 17, 2010 at 6:45 pm

Ghead thought it to be “attack mode” when I pointed out with total irrefutable statistical support, that Posey hit a lot of ground balls. Stating facts is not “attack mode”.
The decline of ALL FOUR of the starters from the beginning of the year and the startling disparity of their performances under Posey vs. Molina may or may not be on the catcher. But it is, again., something that needs to be addressed.
