Ugly Got Uglier…..
Not much to say about this weekend series– Zito was predictably awful. I can’t wait to hear the excuses from his boyfriend Michael Urban. In some ways this is his worst year in SF of all the four. He’s just unraveled at a time when the team needs him the most. That bomb he gave up to make it 9-1 was a batting practice pitch…..
Every starter we have is pitching like shit right now… Giants are -230 to win today, the D-backs are +205. Jesus, if you were a guy who bets this game how can you realistically put money down on the Giants with that +205 hanging out there for the taking?
And I’m tired of this “Uh oh, we’re in a hole again” right off the bat in the first inning. The energy just gets sucked out of the team with every roped bomb. F-that, you’re in a hole, don’t freaking give up in the first inning! That’s what if feels like they’ve been doing lately. Power through it, persevere. This is the freaking DBACKS……
LA waived Lilly.
Can he start tomorrow vs the Rockies?
Rachel or Ten? How ’bout Rachel by ten. Many think she’s lost a step this year, but the numbers suggest otherwise. Last three BSF 108, 108 and 105. Thoro-Graph -1 1/4, -3 1/2 and -3 1/4 stack right up there with last years figures. I keep hearing that Life At Ten is the horse to beat. Rachel is getting the Dangerfield treatment for today’s Personal Ensign. Hell, Brad Free on the radio this morning all but said he was mortgaging the house and the kid’s college fund to get 5/2 (more like 8/5 off odds) on Life At Ten. Hope your kids enjoy going to the state school, Brad. I think Rachel wows’em again today.
Rodrigo Lopez L3 starts: 14 1/3 IP 24H 15ER 5HR (ML high 32); career vs Giants 0-2 (6.75)
Cain has thrown 17 scoreless vs the D-backs this yr.
That -230 should be -2300 because if we don’t at least score a TD, kick the PAT and have Nedney boot one through the uprights from 45 yds. vs this sorry excuse for an MLB chump for a pitcher……Alex Smith will get blamed.
Dumb and Dumber metaphor for today’s game . . .
Lloyd: What do you think the chances are of a guy like you and a girl like me… ending up together?
Mary: Well, Lloyd, that’s difficult to say. I mean, we don’t really…
Lloyd: Hit me with it! Just give it to me straight! I came a long way just to see you, Mary. The least you can do is level with me. What are my chances?
Mary: Not good.
Lloyd: You mean, not good like one out of a hundred?
Mary: I’d say more like one out of a million.
[pause]
Lloyd: So you’re telling me there’s a chance… *YEAH!*
Saw Dave Mathew’s at Shoreline last night. One of the horn players was rocking Giants gear. At least someone in orange and black was getting after it last night.
I still don’t get why r pitching is sucking so bad this year??!!!!
last year we complainer about zeets off and on, rowand and Wilson and maybe benign in the 4 hole!!! WTF is happening, still puzzled and I know Timmy is tired, has lost some mph on his fastball, but if he locates, he’ll carry us into the playoffs! let’s f-ing go giants!!!
After Cain’s last start I suggested, half-seriously, that they should skip Zito’s turn and start Cain. But really, what reason is there to keep trotting out Zito if they don’t have to? The same scenario will play out next week, a day off prior to Cain’s next start at LA. This is crunch-time baseball, they need every damn win they can get, and a starter who can’t even throw 9 combined innings in 3 appearances last week, among his other horrid stats, is not the guy to trust.
Their SP was always a little overrated after Tim.
Still no Buster, and more of Stephen Hawking in RF. Bochy cannot be serious.
Torres CF F Sanchez 2B Huff 1B Guillen RF Sandoval 3B Ross LF Uribe SS Whiteside C Cain SP
hey, stop insulting Steven Hawking.
Got to be kidding me on the lineup…I got to see what Twin thinks. This team’s lineup will not be the same without Posey.
If it is an arm strain then why not play him at first Huff in left and Ross in right? That’s right, I am not the manager so I obviously no shit..
Btw, I did not think about this last night, why did we start Zito after Wednesday’s relief appearance. With the off day Cain would have been on normal rest and Sanchez could have gone today.
I think Lilly is pitching today.
First one to defend Bochy’s decision to start Guillen if RF gets virtually kicked in the mouth by Mr. Ed.
Last time I supported Guillen he tried to stretch a double into a triple.
ready to kick…..
No one gave up. I get sick of that bullshit. Eveytime they fail to score, we get this crap that they rolled over. It’s unsupportable nonsense, stop it..
This is real fucking simple: Zito ,as could be expected and as I told you , and Lincecum, unexpected; are why the team may not make the postseason. At least one of those two has to turn it around NOW.
when I say “gave up” I mean they let all all the energy go away just cause of the first inning runs. Everyone I know that has been going to these games says the same thing: It was like a morgue in there after the first inning. The crowd is contributing to it too……
as momentum is
from hopeful to doomer in one inning flat
as fans are
Zito pitched one fucking inning Wednesday, it had no fucking bearing. The only issue is that Zito and and all of his apologists are braindead cocksuckers. And if Posey isn’t playing it’s because they don’t think he’s fit to play. Another example of ignorant second guessing,. You have ZERO evidence that he could play without risking more injury and zero standing to question the decision until you have that evidence. Some things are ABSOLUTELY beyond couch potato question. First person gives me the Bochy hates Buster bullshit gets his numbers changed.
Guillen batting cleanup. With the DP machine hitting behind him.LOL!
This lineup is pretty much the biggest FU to Matt Cain this season.
And awesome LOL from Baggs: Guillen gets rewarded for his brutal drop by slotting in at cleanup.
Mychael Urban and Barry Zito decided it would be best to cancel their regularly scheduled “Unicorn Hour” for today because given the current circumstances, it would have been “bad radio.” Bad radio? Oh, I dunno. I’ve listened to the Titanic over the airwaves, sounded fine to me. The special effects of all the splash landings was particularly nice. Hell, even Kate Winslet’s tits sounded good over 50,000 watts.
Pussies the both of ”em.
oh, I am sure only one of her tits is pussy-
I seriously doubt there are any Zito apologists out there (besides Krukow)…….
There have been several here, including Kat and anyone who has excused his putridosity with the run support bullshit. Fuck that, I told you before, and you didn’t listen, children: Barry Zito will screw them when he’s needed the most. With Tim, it’s a problem he’ll work through or adjust.with Zito, he’s a gutless fuckpig.
It really is all about the pathetic pitching staff right now.Over 23 games since Aug 4,Giant starters have a 3-13 (1.88) won-lost record,a 6.17 ERA,and a .302 opponent’s batting average. The winning pct and ERA are the poorest in the majors over that 25 day span.
They shall win today. Cain’s been the only consistant SP on the team of late. He historically has some sort of weird bad luck in run support but almost always pitches well enough to win. Outstanding ERA.
Book it
I’m with Ted. Early on in the season, even while Tim was doing well, I felt Cain was the go-to, the one who would win to end a losing streak. Not flashy, but always in the game, and importantly for this squad, can right himself when he makes a mistake. I think he wins for us today.
As for Guillen, I think Boche must simply see it as Guillen is putting the bathead on the ball. Rowand and Schierholtz are not–though Nate has looked better lately. Given our offense, especially lately, it’s that simple. Sadly.
In one way or the other it’s ALWAYS been about the pitching. Get with it. They were never ever in your wildest dreams going any motherfucking where without excellent pitching. The ERA needs to be under 4. Simple.
This one is simple, the Giants will win. Job done – no matter who is pitching, umpiring or managing, No matter what the lin3up has or should be. It is a Sunny Sunday day game at ATT and as a tribute to every worker everywhere, a holiday.
No way anyone in San Francisco, including the sports teams, doesn’t get that.
Fuck all the statistics until tomorrow: today’s game is for the good guys.
Go Giants!
And, as a doomer note: this staff being the worse in the NL during the August month was on no one’s radar. Inconceivable to believe. Even now; No freaking way. damn.
Chill out, people. Cain’s got this.
OK- maybe he don’t got this.
Feel free to panic, people.
Gotta strike out LaDouche.
Yeah! Sit down, LaDouche!
OK, great job w/ 2K’s. NOW here’s been Matty’s sore spot. Get the 3rd. out.
Cainer!!
Huge.
Had to get out of that one unscathed.Great comeback Matty.Let’s get some damm runs NOW!!!
One of the reasons we’re all feeling the Giants lackluster performance so intensely is the missed opportunity: Phils have taken 2 from San Diego, and Nats just took 3 of 4 from St. Louis–beating Wainwright (who’s lost his last three decisions to Pitt, Milwaukee, and Nats…).
Rodrigio “Maddux” Lopez in the bottom half. Jesus H.
And, Ed, it’s tough when the thing we were most counting on this season- solid starting pitching, has been faltering at such a critical time in the season.
too true, but I will be rooting every game, my belief that we could have a .600 end of season run is still up to us – it’s just that the bats now have a heavy chore until the SPs settle in, ready for post season run.
I know when you’re a pro, you ‘look for your pitch’. But it seems to me when your offense is floundering as it is, when you’re up against a journeyman soft-tosser, YOU MIGHT SEE MORE THAN 7 PITCHES IN ONE INNING, FFS!
Yeah if we did’t have enough problems with are pitchers.Casilla nailed are best pitcher(Wilson) with an errant throw yesterday.Couldn’t he atleast nailed Zito instead.
44 pitches through 2. Yikes.
While watching the Giants broadcast Friday night, another TV at the bar featured Yanks game. Cano was up, setting himself in the box, patient like he was getting his hair cut or ordering a sandwich. ALL the Yankees look that way, like they belong there, that it’s up to the pitcher to perform. How do you teach that? Draft it?
The dodgers shulda waived Lilly, Colorado lit him up today
Torres gets Willie Mac award. No question. And the broadcast the other night had him 5th or so in the league in extra-base hits.
Eli jump-starting the offense!
Is this computer graphic right — 3 WPs in a row to put a SO victim on 3B? Tell me Whiteside wasn’t to blame. Please.
Whitey shares the blame for sure. Probably thinking about Vera’s “Four Soup Chicken Thighs”…
new inning and to quote a great baseball fan:
Eli jump-starts the offense!
go giants, now, Please
And that pitch to Upton was a hanging slider, right? wtf is Casilla doing throwing sliders, anyway?
this proves it:
Bochey has man love for Casilla
Uhm…
Nice pitching moves by Bonehead…
Just keep changing pitchers. Oh, and leave Guillen out there with a lead.
Ridiculous. Pretty curious why Cain can’t go more than 6.1 with an extra day’s rest.
When the games is on the line .. .they throw another left handed batter a pitch down and in. It’s like they’re the only ones who know that’s where lefties like them.
Unreal fucking inning. Just couldn’t close the door on those guys
suckage, big time, Cain deserved this one
I have never understood how a pitcher ahead in the count throws a hittable pitch in the zone. It has to be a tow pitch minimum. Or it is a mistake.
not one pitcher in the inning did their job…
you can substitute august for inning…
WTF happened? I go to watch Rachel Alexander lose to the ghost of Personal Ensign in the very race named after her, come back and we’re now down 6-5?
I want somebody either demoted, waived and/or fired. Start with Sabean.
This shit is all his fault. “Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.”
a true francez hit
Fuck that, lopez did his job, he got a ground ball. Does he ever get to pitch to righties? Casilla is a gas can. Nice answer back by our guys this inning….
I told Huff never hit the warning track
and the offense is doing it
woo hoo
The Gimpster comes through!
As silly as this may sound, I must be good luck. 😀
Now that’s treating the bullpen the way it’s supposed to be treated. Sure, two of the balls should have been caught … that’s why they’re the Dbacks.
Now, stop the lefty-righty relief nonsense and wrap the game up.
back to back ground rule doubles
where is Krukow?
That’ll do it
can we call this small ball?
too excite ed for a bathroom break
ya gotta beleive
humm baby
Hamels 4-hitter sweeps the Pads. Let’s get this game.
Kruk’s kid just had a kid, he’s visiting them in Reno.
Is there any better example of this being a game of inches than that last play? Wow
Affeldt stinks. Whiteside should have been deeper in the box, bad play by him…
DEE FENCE!
our guys lookin good, eli diving,
just safe
This is an unbelievably entertaining game…
I hope Wilson can go the 9th too. OK, defense in place, now let’s get this SOB out.
ya gotta earn these important games, gonna feel good in the clubhouse
With ultimate irony, with that beard, Wilson is starting to look like Casey Blake.
What was Eli (not one of his better games, obviously) staring at? He knew he missed the guy by a foot, and the guy wasn’t even close to tagging the plate first time by.
Hope the Bax play the Pads this hard.
both guys were out of position, and Eli lost the race.
still exciting with Francez – Huff -Eli working together
