September 1st….
Call up day. Bochy has to be sighing a bit of relief at the new bodies he’s getting. Uribe is in desperate need of some time off and whether it’s Renteria or Burriss who give him a blow, that dude needs to get a blow….
So who’s getting called up?
Here’s the link to our minor league stats:
http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/minorleagues/affiliates/index.jsp?c_id=sf
Outside of middle infield help I’m not sure what our team really NEEDS right now. We’ve got about 16 outfielders already vying for time. The bullpen has sorted itself out pretty good in terms of roles and Runzler will be taking his spot back today so I don’t know how many new guys we’re going to be seeing coming out of the bullpen. Brandon Belt? Sure, why not but I don’t know when he would play. Couldn’t hurt to give him a view from the bench and a PH now and again…….
How about Chris Dominguez down at Augusta (not for a call up, just *how ’bout him*)? He seems like he can hit a little, but 30(!) —t-h-i-r-t-y— errors this year. Dude might want to learn how to play 1st base or he’s headed down the same road Jesus Guzman is traveling down…….
Ubaldo vs Timmy— this is not a must win game. I’m telling myself that partly because it’s true and partly because I’ve lost faith in Tim Lincecum. If he can’t beat the #3’s of the league how is he going to beat this guy (who he’s already lost to)……
Pablo was totally overmatched. Embarrassed.
Bozo, I think the Giants should send us each a 12-pack.
After tonight Den, you should get it. I’ll probably be without power and the Giants for a few days here.
We got a few fucks lined up wanting to crash our party here. This guy Earl, his friend Fiona AND that fucker Gomez.
Stay sated my friend, I know I will.
Runt Two makes himself a very popular man in SF.
Way to get the job done Fonetnot!
Tim’s biggest inning of the year right now.
Huge hit. Gotta keep things at least even with Jimenez.
I was wondering if Guillen would get to that one . . . whew!
Time for the Giants to tell the Rocks that “You Will Respect My Authoritah!”
After the Fontenot hit to tie, I went to do laundry…How come Lincy didn’t bunt? Was it a butcher boy ground into DP?
Huff is DUE.
Frankfurterchez. Hey this guy Gomez Jimenez for the Rocks has only let in one run. CAN you believe that?
Huff is killing me…and killing us…why again is Posey not hitting third?
Crap.
wsw…there was no reason for Timmt to be swinging on that play with one olut. A strikeout would have been much better for us, but bunt should have been automatic. Could have been runners second and third for Torres at least..
I had not seen that firing of Dibble, who is just a loud mouth but does a pretty decent job on Sirius/XM’s baseball channel.
But if you are the Nats, you dont want Dibble travelling with the team telling these young pitchers to suck it up…maybe Dibble said it directly to Strausburg…
Nice job Timmy
A 5 out inning! Outstanding effort tonight. That should be long enough for him this evening.
I agree Twin
only 96 pitches Mike…hope they have to PH for him here tho with runs in.
I’ll say they got 5 1/2 outs that inning…the 1/2 pitch was a strike…he made up for it on the 2/2
Nah there gonna stretch Timmy out.Best start in a loooonnng time. He’s dealing and they will hang with him.
Yeah, I think Tim is done for the evening (with him due to bat). Conversely, the Rockies bullpen is TNT + Gas + Oxygen + Match. In other words, Jimenez will probably keep pitching. Ha.
He don’t like pitching to Buster.
And he eats Pablo for breakfast, lunch and supper.
No more questions about Posey’s speed, ok? I think we were provided an unequivocal answer.
Panda is just impossible to figure this year. Obviously, he can handle Jimenez, he has 10 hits lifetime, 4 this year. And he isn’t close to any of those fastballs.
He comes for a little while…stays away longer
Up to Fontenot for Lincy to stay in the game…
Timmeh! That was one fabulous inning. Been awhile since one could say that.
And who wanted Tim to be done already?Easiest inning of the night.
This PR is a second guess waiting to happen…
Gotta love speed.
LOVE THE SPEED
Ford is one fast motherfucker. You talkin about Ford? Shut your mouth.
Bochy is a friggin genius 🙂
He’s a good thief.
Ford is STEALING. And, I’m OK with that.
I didn’t WANT him done, KatFuck. I’m not one of you doomers.
Frankenchez
That was one of the most exciting plays of the year!
Ford could get a job as an extra in a Romero flick.
Ford. One souped-up T-Bird.
Alright BW – Let’s get er done.
Fuck it this is a statement game for the rest of the month.Timmy goes the distance!!!!!!!!
Ford. Runs like a deer.
Yeah, I said early today they needed another guy who can steal 90 feet. Nice debut.
Tim’s a fucking runt, isn’t he? Took three tries to get the sac bunt down. Scalp the hippie, now.
I woulda left Timmy in…
Fontenot is not slow, that was a heck of a move from Bochy as well. Don’t expect he’ll get any props for it but he should. Also for sending Ford on the 0-2, he was getting the fucker to second hell or high water.
Thankfully not Rob.
Sorry that was supposed to be under Pawlie’s post
Ford runs like a Porsche.
2 down
GAAAAAAAME!!!!!!!!!
I love this game!!
Great ballgame.
Congrats…I love these 123 9ths…Lincy is Back!
3 GB!!
Hell of a catch by Frankenchez. Great close by BW
Yeah It’s a Win!!!
One of the thrillers of the year and this time there ARE tri-POTG: Tim, Ford, Bochy…
Glad you added Ford. Hell yeah
We need a little ferrethead woo hoo
POTG..Timmy…Ford… Honorable mention.
Yowza. Fitting payback for the fuckeroll the other night.
VERY nice game by Timmy . . .
MIke, Don’t forget lil lord Fauntleroy
Ford/fruckie 2 play sequence we won’t soon forget….
Biggest game of the year! Order of importance:
(1. Timmy’s Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack
(2. It’s September
(3. Timmy outpitched Ubaldo
(4. Giants have a speedster
(5. Giants WIN
(6. Three games out in the Division
(7. Winning the series after that freaky game one loss which could have destroyed a team with less character.
yes x 7
That’s one of the ugliest suits I’ve ever seen. *That’s* a suit made for radio
Big win. Big emotionally, strategically, statistically, dynamically, personally, existentially, spiritually, aesthetically, physically, metaphysically, athletically, joyfully, luckily, skillfully, financially, morally, victoriously, literally, and figuratively. Big. Win.
Thanks, Pawlie. I’m starting to feel a little…illy
Boy, it hurts you guys to give Bochy credit. Is his Mom a Gomez? 😉
Really, not many managers run for a fast runner. Then sending him on the bunt, the steal of third. Ford did the work but the Puppet Master was Bochy. Brilliant job.
ok, ok, add “managerially a big win” [I did say “strategically]; we can make it “Bochyily” if you like
Excuse me, it wasn’t a steal of third. Still, decisions everybody would be all over if they don’t work, including Wilson to close.
How cool to debut in MLB, do what you ‘re brought up to do. PR… and score the winning run ’cause of your speed.
We have a few storms about to hit us in the Outer Banks. You Flappers be good (Dennis don’t let any no no’s come our way). Will check back in later and GO GIANTS.
Batten down the hatches, Bozo. If ya got a cellar, load ‘er up with some tequila, Pepto and a transistor radio tuned to our Giants. We’ll catch ya on the rebound after sweeping the Bums in LA.
I’m with you michael…hence my post “Bochy is a friggin genius”.
Sabes and his staff aren’t so bad either.
Here I presume it’s sarcastic, Max. I should have known yours wasn’t.
Puppet Master. twin’s getting all fucking Heinlien on us
No grokking allowed here . . .
I even loved the highlight-film Hollywood stunt by Freddy at the end; correct me if wrong, but he was born there, I think. He was a nice punctuation mark. Yeah, that’s it. A punctuation of panache.
It was fun all the way around, a tonic. Darren Ford — to me — was trying his best to be professional and contained and according to protocol, but inside him there had to be approximately 123 electric jack rabbits on fire, jumping up and down.
Tonight’s MVPs, a lot for a 2-1 game:
1. Lincecum
2.Ford
3. Wilson
4. Bochy
5. Fontenot
6. Sanchez
7. Guillen
Many credits due to a fantastic supporting cast: Wilson was golden. Dude’s a horse. He seems to thrive on lots of work. Brian Sabean gave Franchez that contract. It’s been paying off lately as Freddy is fully healthy and fielding like a Golden Glove genius. Sabes also gave the call to Ford to fly up from Richmond. Bochy played that one like a Stradivarius. He also probably told Brian he needed those legs. Fontenot came through with a huge hit and a monster walk. Guillen ranged to his max and pulled in that deep fly just past the rightfield foul line. Buster called a great game, swinging into full harmony with Lincecum.
What’s not to like?
I did leave out Buster. Sorry, but if Bengie gets zero credit for two Cys, Buster doesn’t get it for one game.
