Sometimes you just have to take a walk…..
That’s what I did after Gibbons hit that bomb. Not a long walk, just down the driveway and up the street and back. Apparently that walk worked wonders. Cain settled down and we go on to hit 4 bombs to win the game. There are almost no words to describe last night’s win. Either you saw it or you didn’t and I have never seen a game like that–that one was an original. Uribe has to be POTG but if was ever to be a shared last night was the night—Posey, Renteria, Burrell, Ross and Uribe. And you have to give Cain huge props for settling down after giving up that bomb to the ridiculous Gibbons…….
Torre stubbornly using Broxton again. Baha. Classic look of defeat on Broxton’s face after Uribe’s hit. Broken and beaten….
Who loses 9 games in a row at this time of year and can honestly maintain the confidence to actually believe they can win their division?
There is no team above us. The only thing that is stopping us from steamrolling this division is proper execution. That, and God hating us when Zito pitches……..
After that 3 run jack I was thinking ballgame too.
With San Diego cratering and extending their meldown to 9 straight The Giants had sieze the moment, turn the tide, change their momentum. They had to have that game and who better to carry them that Uribe. Dude is The Man.
What a game.
The bad news is that I didn’t get to see the game like most of you did . . . The good news is that I got to read the blog posts this morning and that’s fun too. Sounds like it was quite a roller coaster ride.
The G-Men need to win the series today . . . and that will be tough to do, with Sanchez having never won against the Bums. Specifically, they probably like their chances against Sanchez, who is 0-5 with a 6.25 ERA in nine career starts against them, and has not lasted past the fifth inning in the last eight. He gave up five runs over five innings June 30 in an 8-2 home loss to Los Angeles. Ignore Kuroda’s 10-11 season record, i.e., he almost pitched a no-hitter against the Phils in his last start, winning 3-0. So, this is a good time for Sanchez and company to suit up and show up.
Go Giants!
Tremendously gutsy effort from Cain after the debacle in the 4th.
Safe to assume Broxton/Barajas didn’t see Uribe’s blast against Heath Bell in the 9th earlier this yr (a game which the G’s ultimately lost in the 10th on a Eckstein hr). Same pitch, same location, same destination.
Kuip had a great line last night. “Uribe is a guy you don’t want to be around when he’s mad. Or happy….”
still fired up after last night’s win!! a win today is what the doctor orders!
My 8:35 PM last night (at 4-0 LA), should have been POTD.
I demand a recount!.
Loo said at 8:35 last night:
“I think they have a comeback in ‘em. Plenty of sticks on the bench, too.”
Nostrafuckingdamus is right. Got any comebacks at the Spa today?
Since you asked, Denny, I’ll be on (#7) Won O Won (Prado) in the 4th.
I won’t bore you with the reasons…
Jon Miller’s “Adios, pelota!”
http://tinyurl.com/2dtsfhe
I gave out Twirling Candy two days ago for the Del Mar Derby. I can’t help it that he’s 4/5 on the ML.
I just pick ’em, I don’t set ’em.
Those filmclips are great stuff.
At the end of the broadcast,Amy G talked to Brian Wilson and complimented on his beard. He called it “The Beard of Zeus”. That’s the sort of thing it took last night–divine intervention.Matt Cain pitched six top-notch innings and one piece of shit inning, and the 4-0 pasting looked permanent until Buster Posey boomed a big one off Ted Lilly leading off the 7th.Back to back bombs by Edgar and Pat in the 8th made it a ballgame again, and even after Hong Chow Mein Kuo came into to dispose of Huff and Posey,I knew the Dodgers would have to go to Broxton which made be quite happy. In the past i wouldn’t of said that, as he had been lights out,but he’s not the same pitcher since the Yanks lit him up in NY before the A/S break. And the Giants obviously know this as well. Cause after Cody Ross infield hit and Juan Uribe’s biggest HR of the year to take the lead,it was the 3rd straight time in which they torched Broxton. How sweet is that?
An absolutely horrible 1-0 pitch from Broxton, and Uribe just spiked it. What a shot. Juan Uribe is one strong dude.
What a win. Maybe this one gets them going to steamroll this road trip.
i could listen to that 3 second Kuip HR call over and over, all day long……
All four of the home runs were no-doubters. “Adios pelota!” Lol!
In watching Uribe’s HR over and over, you can’t help but notice seeing Buster falling down in the dugout each time. I’m surprised Twin hasn’t launched a wicked campaign that he doesn’t know how to properly tie a shoe.
Looks like the word is out Denny…
Zowwwie. Came back from the beach last nightly slightly tight and turned on the puter. Middle of the 7th. Posey had just got the Giants on the board. Was tired and a bit overstimulated, recalling the Friday night loss to Lady B. and figured fuggit. Endangered my uberPolly status with that retreat to the sack.
But whodda thunk it? RentMan and Pat the Bat doing some bitchslapping in the 8th and then Ross setting up UrrrrrrriBeeeeee for the big blast. Then, not to let the drama ease up, Sarah Bernhardt act comes on and the LaBumbos get two on with only one out. But BeachBoy yanks the string out from underneath their rally and it finalizes in a big “W”.
Guillen gotta sit tonight, and Dennis, you goddam right Huff should be dropped down the LU. He hasn’t done scheisskendorfers lately and clogs up the most productive part of the order. Cody Ross deserves a start and maybe both Renteria and Uribe should start, particularly if Pablo is outta sorts.
Huge game for Sanchez. Cain broke the LaBumbos schneid on him earlier in the season. Bout perfect time for Drrrrty to follow suit. Strategy against Kuroda: Work the count. Work the count. Work the count. Except for Chow Mein Charlie, the BumPen is perfectly delicious. If they can get to that BP by the sixth the Giants should win again even if trailing. Sanchez gets it tonight and the batters work Kuroda, SF wins big.
Funny intro to this thread, Flav. Nice work.
I love the Flap
Going to a barbecue in Concord for a reunion with all the sorry fucks (myself included) who lost their jobs thanks to a combo of crooked management ruining the bank and the follow up of being taken over by the biggest bunch of dickheads what ever ran a bank.
But I can savor last night’s win and look forward to today’s
9 game losing streak by the Padres. Incredible. Like Bochy said (paraphrasing) How the fuck can a team counter that with a 9 game winning streak?
Giants are *SO* in this race. Gotstu be one of the best pennant races in my life. But, relatively speaking, it’s been a short life
ESPN reported that the Huffster wears a thong each game for good luck. Is this true?
Boy, we sure went down the toilet on that ugly bitch.
Huff is wearing a thong. It doesn’t seem to be working for him but he claims they are 3-1 in games he’s got his thong on…
Loo negated his 8:35 by reverting to Bochy bashing Dommerini form later in the evening. You get nothing but some of the Ptomaine Sausages you sent me…
Watched the game again, this time with Scully. The Old Fodger Duckwad should retire NOW. He’s just another homer now, a snarky little one at that…
Juan Gomez has taken a lot of shit here about his slump, being done, reverting to form. Told you then, tell you now: he has to be in the LU. Bip’s best line, again: Juan swings with “cruel intention”…
Kuroda: no “for sure” but you’d always rather face a good pitcher coming off a good effort than off a sucko one…
I could listen to Scully cry over and over as I watch Uribe’s ball sail into the night…
Perhaps we’ll see something resembling last yr’s Sept from Uribe
.347/7hr/21rbi./1.014 ops
Scully was pathetic. Bitched on Renteria all night like Vinnie Snarkklefuck, crowed after he struck out about how declining the rehab made him unfit to play ( then fell nearly silent as Rent’s HR left the yard), declared that Cain has been a HUGE disappointment, not ONE critical word about a Dodger or their play from the formerly bipartisan great, really dozens more examples. I was shocked, I hadn’t heard Vin do a full game in awhile. He’s not even witty anymore. Strangely, although the broadcast is biased toward the Bumbinis, he’s not particularly enthused about them either. He’s mailing it in… sad.
I don’t know if he’s mailing it in or just old. He makes a lot of mistakes.
The biggest problem is that one guy doing TV gets real monotonous real quick. You get the same stories 3 nights in a row because there’s no one to build a conversation off of, and apparently interns directing the cameras because nothing to talk about there either. They want to show Ethier’s bad routes all night and call them great (although, to be fair, ESPN called it Web Gem No. 2. Ridiculous)
I loved Scully, but I skip the telecasts usually.
I didn’t “bash” Boch. I just questioned his decision to leave his lefty PH’s on the bench, particularly Torres to lead off the 9th for K-happy Guillen.
Braves lose!!!
You can make just as persuasive an argument, based on recent history, that Uribe should have been the guy for Torres to hit for, even Ross. But Bochy chose to go with three guys who all have the power to yank one.It worked out. Tip your cap to the Botcher and have a seat, Looigi..
The hustling Ross gave encouragement…He said he had chills circling the bases on the Uribe HR…
Whenever the Giants get a huge victory.Huff’s reaction is the best. He’s waited a decade for moments like these. And he, along with Pat Burrell also started a little tradition in the dugout,The slug-a- teammate maneuver.
When something remarkable happens on the field,You’ll see Huff punch guys in the chest. There was just one problem last night,I really wanted to,but I think I was standing next to DeRosa.”Huff said.”He’s hurt,I didn’t want to punch a hurt guy.”
OK, then my 9:10 is POTD . . .
I luv Huff. He’s keeping things loose, even if his bat’s in the toidie. He can wear a red thong on his head while he plays, for all I care. Personally, I think he’d be better in black. If they play .750 as long as he wears it, hell, he should put on a push up bra and go for running the table on the rest of this roadie…
Thong or wonder bra, Huff has to start hitting.
No doubt. He shoiuld have rested and ridden pine with the thong last night with the lefty going…
Torres CF, Fontenot 2B, Huff 1B, Burrell LF, Posey C, Guillen RF, Sandoval 3B, Uribe SS, Sanchez P
Kinda surprised to see Guillen in there. Are they afraid to sit this guy for fear of his reaction?
Sitting a guy straight off a poor outing is not always the best course, IMO. But it’s a bit surprising since Ross is the only guy with any success at all against Kuroda ( except the banished Ishi, 1 for 4, a three run dinger)..
I’m kinda surprised Dirrrrrty’s numbers are so bad against LA— the only guy who hits him well is Kemp. How the hell does he always lose to them?
Fruckie was in the original lineup, not sure what happened. Pulled something in bunting practice would be my best guess.
Tejada just tied it with a 2run HR
Rox 4/2 top 7 still batting
MAIN MAN MORA!!!
M-O-R-A…….Mora my main man…
Melvin Morabini ?
I’d have to say it turned out great that the Rockies were playing the Pads this weekend. That’s what we needed to happen- a motivated and hungry team playing the Pads at this crucial moment, not some opponent who’s just going through the motions these days, like the Mets.
Speaking of ethnic stereotypes- the Carl’s Jr. Cheese Steak burger commercial is loaded with them.
Baggs tweets:
Don’t expect Brandon Belt to be called up because of 40-man squeeze.
Bruce Bochy on starting Jose Guillen again after 4-K game: “Part of this is staying behind the guys. He’s been around.” 23 minutes ago
That is one disgusting sounding burger. Love the Man vs. Food guy, speaking of that stuff. And the dude who eats anything on Bizarre Foods, Zimmern. I doubt he’d eat the Cheese Steak burger..
The Man vs. Food Guy sucks fuckin’ big fuckin’ elephant dicks. You got that?
OMG – Zimmern did this whole thing on eating beaver, you’ve got to find the clips, it is HIGH-larious!!!! (In a completely immature, dirty-minded sort of way…)
Not gonna go tonite…expecting a 1/2 pack of cigs game. Can’t be out my seat that much there…gonna watch Jon, Joe, and Orel…Probably go down to San Diego tho next week.
Watched the O’s beat Rays last night at Camden Yards. What a nice place and a change from Nats Park. In Baltimore, fans actually start their own chants, you’re not incessantly bombarded with music and instructions to clap, and there’s good pulled pork at Boog Powell’s BBQ. Between the right-field concourse and the warehouse behind, the O’s have marked where homers have landed–Griffey hit the warehouse (450 feet) in an All-Star contest. I remember being at a Yanks-O’s game in the mid-90s where Strawberry launched three moon-shots over there. Anyway, our man Huff has a couple there, and I’ll upload a photo as my avatar (how do you do that here? go to Blogspot?). After watching Giants-Dodgers into the 6th inning, drove home depressed only to find we win. And really win! So let’s do it Dirty!
pads lose
Pads Lose!!!
That’s because they suck fuckin’ big fuckin’ elephant dicks. You got that?
How did the Pads do?
Lost 4-2.
I was kidding but thanks. ( see “older comments”)
Did anyone else just see a drunk driving PSA followed immediately by a Jack Daniels commercial on Baseball Tonite?
Uribe hits winners during the game, and in batting practice as well. Doink!

Damn, almost like that dude was hit by Mike Tyson.
Wow. And I mean wow. It is 7:58 p.m. EDT, minutes before tonight’s (Sunday’s) game, and I am just now discovering we won yesterday’s game. Yup. I went to bed, curled up with a New Yorker murder story, true crime, about a pathological murderer in New Zealand. I woke up and purposely avoided looking at ball scores, shielding myself from pain. The little-faith, knee-jerk reaction of one who has been jilted once too often. Tonight, when I went to the ESPN MLB scoreboard, where my laptop was, still on yesterday’s scores in the 5th inning, instead of refreshing the page, I went to Sunday’s scores instead. Not even wanting to know the anticipated gory details.
Oh. Me. Of. Little. Faith.
Mea maxima culpa.
. . . AND DON’T YOU EVER SET FOOT IN OUR PARK AGAIN DODGER SCUM.
Yeah, you should be ashamed Pawlie (never mind that I went to bed too. Ha.).
10 game loosie-do, the Pads are freekin handin it to the Giants on a platter. No excuses. Gotta win tonite…
I don’t pretend to understand the logic, if any, behind Guillen starting. Golden sombrero last night, can’t run = rewarded with a start. Bonehead’s explanation above is in Low Klingon…
One of the things about being an announcer (or a coach for that matter) is not your knowledge of the game, but how you impart it. Hershisher to me is very annoying, like he’s lecturing single A guys on how to play the game.
Yeah! I love that pitch, the high hard one. Unhittable from JS. Grab your glove, eh.
One can disagree with it but it’s actually extremely easy to understand.
SAFE!
all right…1st blood
BTW, if you paid any attention at all, Guillen ran down a deep drive in the gap in the 8th last night. He was running considerably better.
That was a nice play Mike, that ball was back and over his head. Plus he threw out Loney after he tracked down the ball he hit. And tonite a line drive basehit to get Posey to third after being behind in the count.
Last night there was considerable angst over the age of the lineup—and Rent, Uribe and Burrell off the bench all raked. Rowand had a double off the fence and almost another to RF.
Well starting him paid off with that solid hit.Nice work by Panda to get the Sac Fly.
Well, he got a hit. Whatever Bochy meant, I’ll take the hit. Nice start, Dirrty always does better with a lead…
Don’t forget the foul Guillen ran down vs the Rocks. He’s running much better
Got to hand it to Dirty, when he decides to go wild ,he takes out 2 for the price of 1.
love those…
For a minute, I thought about an early melt down, walk + hit batter, we’ve seen that shit before. Nice DP to take off the pressure. Can somebody get this Casey Blake POS out, pleeeeez….
Man, are Torres’s Ks becoming a serious concern?
Way to stretch out the thong with a double Huffy.
