An Improbable 3 Game Win Streak
Look back at all three games, how did we win ANY of them? It’s almost as if each game is just a collection of individual, separate moments. And yet somehow, each moment connects to one another at the end for a victory. Nate Schierholtz comes off the bench clearly with his head not in the game, and gets picked off. Idiot. So, of course, Nate wins the game for us. Hero.
I honestly can’t remember a season that had this many entertaining games. And it’s not just that we are in a pennant race, these games have just been unbelievable…..
There have been a lot of documented things that didn’t work out this year: Timmy, Pablo, Wellenmeyer as the 5, DeRosa hurt, Rowand sucking, Franchez hovering just above the brink of *below averageness*….the list is a mile long. And yet we’re about to take over first place. How?
This is a gutty-ass team that refuses to ever give up. The season has evolved to the point where each player knows someone on the team will step up and deliver–the only question is who it’s gonna be. That’s a very cool place to be in September…….
Who’s the closer tonight, sans Wilson? The Lycanthropic one?
Osama bin Gomez!
Row-Row looked pretty silly against Hampton.
He gone in the offseason…
Incredible what an absolute nobody Rowand has become on this team.
Still, he did knock out a few clutch HRs earlier this year. One I saw in person on a chilly, gusty Mother’s Day comes to mind.
Awright, Romo. No freekin room service fastballs…
Congrats..
Game!!!
It must be 2009 again.
Ballgame!
W
And it ain’t even midnight here yet…
Is this bullpen by Amish?
WTG Giants
DP Affeldt is back! Quick job.
Get it done dodgers!
Ferrett couldn’t be here tonight so she asked me to make her acceptance speech:
“woo-hoo!!”
Ted – thanks dahlink!
(Off-Topic, apologies) … if somebody can recommend a Bay Area atty who handles California employment law, please contact me offline ( bill@magneticdiary.com )
You may have to be more specific. Not kidding.
But you know..pro?..con..?
Perspective would be helpful
TedSpe, from the employee PoV… a “perma-temp” issue where certain employment status representations were made pre-signing.
I’d like to order 20 more just like this, please…
Let’s go Dodgers, let’s go! 🙂
Zito starts tomorrow!!!
Fuck.
Sorry.
Just bummed everyone out.
Hey he can’t be a loser fuck up all the time can he?
Zito says he’ll get it together…

Pen now leads the league in wins, saves, save percentage, fewest inherited runners scoring. Lopez and Ramirez, those inconsequential acquistions:
Ramirez: 17.1 IP 1.04 ERA
Lopez 14.2 IP 1.23 ERA
outstanding gets…
Those inconsequential acquisitions were the arms (not specific) that I was crying for all along.
We need another arm! Good thing Sabean took heed.
Although it was just a 2″ “take a little of the bottom” trim. It cannot be denied that since Tim had his hair snipped, his last two outings have been markedly improved. He should have listened to me a lot sooner.
Get a goddamn haircut! 😀
Actually, it was the Brazilian wax
Woo-Hoo!!!
Ahh..you *did* show up
I had to – you missed an exclamation point… The effort is much appreciated. ;-D
My oops. Sorry
We just went to .500+ road, for the first time all season (unless my memory is starting to acts its age)
And you’re all aware, Freddie Sanchez has the highest I.Q. on the team.
Except for, of course, Freddie Gomez
Who was the blond? Nice hair. And a voice that didn’t make me reach for the mute.
Michael: Nice info on the BP. Here i thought the Giants lead was only in saves. Dagos have lower ERA, but what’s that compared with all those “peripherals”.
dodgers v. pads getting interesting in the 8th.
Fucking stupid piece of shit dodgers. Just wasted a lead-off double in the 8th.
Bell K’ed Furcal and Loney with two on. Going for a 5 out save.
Furcal w…he k posednick and loney
Those Dodgers are dopes.
Don’t look now, but the Rocks are starting to Roll. Giants gotta just keep up this good pitching, and things will be cool. Guillen took some good swings tonite, he coulda had 2 dingers. But, sheezus, his D is challenged, he is glacial chasing down balls in the corner…
not on the road…same with ATL
Bell’s really good, but the ump also gave him a really big strikezone in the 9th.
dodgers lose again
Ted, scroll up if ya get a chance, pls…
In other news… Dodgers: Fail.
Done but not much help. Sent you an email
Yerh, right about Furcal, etc. Whatever…
Everybody knows what the Rockies are doing, Snarker…
James Loney Sucks, Andre Ethier Sucks, Matt Kemp Sucks, Vin Scully Sucks and CASEY BLAKE SUCKS BIG DONKEY DICK!
Bastardos SUCK! They are mailing these games in..bastards….
Congrats to Trevor Hoffman,600 Saves that’s quite an accomplishment.
No lie
He struck out two guys, who cares who they were. Pads won, and as I said the other day: good.. didn’t want to go there with them staring at 13 losses in a row. This is fine. And no reason for any of the doomers here to get all “we MUST sweep”… split the 4 and it’s totally cool. More is icing.
I said sort of the same thing when morons said the Giants should have taken advantage of the Padres losing streak. We all expected it..but fucking 10??
Uh uh. You can’t make that up with a fucking 10 game winning streak. Unfucking realistic. These are professional baseball teams. They’re all gonna win (and lose) eventually in different rounds.
Early in the streak, G’s didn’t take advantage, but those people are fucking idiots. They’ve now gone 6-1 to the Pads 2-5. Lots of ways to look at that shit. One back in each race and in control of their own destiny. Game on.
Giant Head.. I’m on board with all the Dodgers sucking, but Leave Vin out of it…
Sorry, I bleed Orange and Black and the voice of Vin Scully for his entire career has made me turn violently ill…there is nothing more nauseating than his blathering. Vin Scully is the voice of the Bastardos and therefore the Voice of Evil!!!
I watched the game the other night on the Dodger feed. Scully’s deterioration saddened me.
Coming into this season, i thought one thing that would stand out was going to be our bullpen. Well the first three months was not what I was expecting with the pen, but I will give credit to Sabean and Bochy for getting the pen turned around. Lopez has been magnificent and even with Affeldt not back to his 2009 form and Romo having his moments to lose confidence in him, but as Twin’s numbers reflect, this is clearly the best pen in the NL if not the Major Leagues.
Can the Phillies, Braves and Reds pen match up? I think not, especially with our closer, who I have thought all along even through last year that he may be the best in the game. Got into plenty of Splash arguments last year on Wilson’s potential greatness. Padres is arguably up there and Bell has proven the last two nights that he is not going to throw in the towel. But does the rest of their pen have the staying power to fight till October????
One thing is that their starters will never pitch as deep into games as our starters for the remainder of the season and they have to play two more games as our pen gets those extra days of rest. Yeah, they can bring up some fresh arms, but are they going to trust novices in a playoff chase?
The key that has turned the pen around of late is all because our starters are going deep in games limiting at least the total number of innings needed to pitch for our pen outside of yesterday’s 11th inning affair.
The fucking Dodgers are going to blow my prediction of 2-5 Padres run this last week…simple solution, just sweep the D-Heads tomorrow and maybe the Bastards can pull at least one game out.
My prediction last week if you recall was that we would be one game out going into SD and would split the series in San Diego…I will take a game out with 18 to play….and we have a much easier schedule…
catch you all again hopefully after the sweep tomorrow night! Go Giants!
That was the first time I can recall our new LOOGY being interviewed at length. Lopez is a well spoken and articulate young man. Bet he’d give the little runt a run for his money in the IQ dept. But I’d give the nod to LOOGY, Gomez. He was not only engaging, but dashing, dapper and a sharped dressed man. Sharp dressed man? Cue the bearded ones.:

Looks like the clams are ready. Interpret that any way you’d like. Gotta iterate, loving this season and *totally* loving September but… for the evening, gotta go. So…
Goodnight, gentlemen (question mark)
Perhaps some littlenecks just steamed in olive oil, garlic, perhaps some scallions and their own juices? If that is what’s ready, look outside. I’m at the door…
Tonight’s losers, both the Snakes and the LaBumbos have the presumed pitching edge tomorrow night. Zito goes up against Dan Hudson who has been way sharp in his short career to date. Lady Billingsley faces one Cory Luebke, an Ohio rookie who got socked by the Rox in his first ML start last week. So odds are a bit better than even that SF goes into Dago one game out.
With the Phillies losing tonight and the Braves stumbling a bit, the consolation prize also is within close reach. At this point it looks like the Giants should top 90. One game over .500 the rest of the way gets em an even 90. They should be better than that, but my January prediction of 94-68 would need for a 16-7 record the rest of the way. 91 or 92 now looking like good bets.
Stix I think Phils won tonight…
No clams here in the Northwoods. Tonight was damp and chilly so a good excuse to fire up the wood cookstove and stew up some pintos. While they were hitting the soft stage, I threw some lard into the #10 Griswold and sauteed down some onions, tomatoes and peppers from the garden along with a couple apples from my orchard. Mix got some dried oregano from home along with some garlic powder and a dose of cumin. Burrito sized tortillas toasted atop a wood range are the max. Pigged out on three well-filled ones. With that mix there was no need for lettuce, cheese and whatever. Freshly cooked up pintos are a world of difference from the crap outta the can people buy in the supermarkets. Fold em in with some veggies fresh outta the garden and its a perfect answer to a damp and chilly evening. Following a Giants victory it went down perfectly.
I just checked the box score at ESPN, it said Timmy had a “Game Score” of 63 for the night.
Any of you seen the formula for that shit? That makes the one the NFL uses for its QB Rating look like Nate Davis’ remedial math class homework.
ax2 + bx + c = 0 Nate just pulled his quad muscle looking at that one.
The shit’s really gonna hit the fan.
