A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

I Hate Colorado

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on September 26, 2010

I don’t hate the team, I hate the state. I can’t even stand to look at the letters that make up the word. Every  time we go there it seems we get dealt a crushing defeat. Strangely, last night’s didn’t hurt that bad. Bochy went all in last night and I like the move. Win that game and the Rockies are DONE. It just didn’t quite work out. Plus, he knew he had Cain to fall back on today….

And thank freaking GOD that Zito’s sweet “4 runs or more” stat didn’t take a hit. Nice 4.1 innings of work, chump……

You can’t second guess anything Bochy did last night. In fact, you could argue that the Rockies won because of that catch Car-Go made on Posey–he misses that ball and that’s the ballgame……

It was one of the great catches ever. It was a leap AND a diive, full extension, knowing he was going to hit the ground hard because of his elevation. Plus, Tulowiski making that amazing throw from deep in the hole. That’s what it took to beat the Giants in extra innings by one run- the Rockies making two of the greatest plays we’ve ever seen. I’m not a big one for “cap-tipping,” but those were two amazing plays in a game that gave us 3 1/2 hours of riveting major league baseball playoff-race entertainment.

Giambi’s ab in the 8th was huge, too. Get him and Wilson faces Tulo leading off the 9th.

“You must never be satisfied with losing. You must get angry, terribly angry, about losing. But the mark of the good loser is that he takes his anger out on himself and not his victorious opponents or on his teammates.”
    ~ Richard M. Nixon

Why a Tricky Dick quote to start off your Sunday morning? Here’s why, because the Colorado Rockies, they are a crook. And there’s nothing that I hate more than losing to a crook, or at least someone who tries to be a crook. I don’t care what anyone says, but the Rockies are a bunch of no good cheatin’ sons of bitches. And I will not accept nor tolerate losing to a bunch of fucking crooks. That’s all I have to say.

Giants baseball = torture. So mark me down for a believer. The two hottest hitters in all MLB during the month of September not only did in the Giants with their bats, but also with their gloves. It happened in the Box of Rox where that kinda thing is expected and even routine.

Then the pesky Pads stole a win by way of yet another homefield advantage, with Scott Rolen missing a hard-hit ball in the evening shadows. So the drama continues.

One good thing is that the Giants bats are now fully unlimbered, having scored 22 runs in the past couple games. Other good thing is that today’s matchup features Jorge DeLaRosa homing against Matt the Horse. We can expect a professional performance from Cain. When that big boy is on, which is usually the case, the scent of a Giants victory is in the air.
A win this afternoon brings them home to face the Snakes and then those pesky Pads.

Today is the occasion to put the Rox outta their misery. Unable to win on the road without their faithful humidor and with only part of a rotation worthy of the name, Colorado does not deserve to be in the PS. Giants should have some fire in their eyes today.

I watched on the MLB channel [free] and felt it was simply inevitable, though it left me feeling apprehensive — a smaller version of the 2002 world Series debacle. Fabulous catch, fabulous.

I would’ve walked Tulo. Maybe twice. Why not? Bonds was walked for lesser reasons dozens of times. I would’ve simply walked him and taken my chances.

(MLB network is showing a sprinkling of pennant games, but they do it through the home team, so I had to abide the Rockies’ announcers. Sigh.)

Pawlie: When i read over the game account and checked out the box score, i too wondered why Tulo was not walked in those situations. There was no other possible call in the tenth. Maybe Giants just were wore out and Bochy wanted to get to bed.

My 49ers are the worst coached team in the NFL. I could just cry it makes me sick to my stomach.
I hope my Giants show me better later this afternoon.

Oh, almost forgot. Hey, Loo! Shaddup! 😀

If Tulo is in a position to hurt you today, I walk him. The guy is on fire. Let Mora beat you, if he does, then fine…

    • Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on September 26, 2010 at 11:04 am

Absomotherfuckinglutely. Hey, if we’re up by 3 and he’s up with the bases drunk, I’d give him 4-wide there as well. Don’t let Tulo beat us. No how, no way.

Just a reminder, the 49ers coaching still sucks.

One of these days, you can explain how you can watch the NFL these days. I like football, but it’s not played in the NFL, that’s for sure.

But that’s just me, obviously. A PRACTICE game gets better ratings than pennant race baseball. Sigh

I admit, I get frustrated with the Gyros now and again. But, that’s often because I love the Giants, and this year they have a real shot at going somewhere. Compared to the total train wreck that is the Niners, it gives some perspective. Bonehead and staff are geniuses at their game compared to the 49er counterparts…

  25. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on September 26, 2010 at 1:06 pm

Loo and his Chiefs are the big winners today. Congrats to you and your Chiefs. You guys really put it to us today. Not much I can say, so I’ll just keep quiet.

Oh, you did win our little bet. It is now OK talk about our post-season roster, plans, pitching order, etc, etc, etc, etc. I will not say a word about it. I’m a lot of things, but I know how to uphold a bet. Believe me, I’ve got lots of experience in holding up a lost bet. Hell, I even lead off for today. If Rowand makes the final 25-man, I’m gonna call for heads to roll. Yep, we make the post-season, and the first thing I’ll do is bitch about our 25-man. Hey, that makes me two things, consistent and a good bet payer. Yeah me! 😆

As I say, I don’t folllow things closely, but now would seem about the right time to excuse the entire 49ers staff. Where they not favored today? Regardless, two huge embarrassments in three games and a team going nowhere after many years of going nowhere. Why wait?

I was not one of those celebrating when Huff swung at a ball to advance Sanchez to third. The walk and the DP were too obvious.

For me, this team can never give up and out. For anything. They make too many on their own.

Unless it’s a squeeze, which is not in Bochy’s playbook.

Friday night deja vu all over again and then some. Awesome 1-2 combo. Sanchez as the actual and true #3 starter, though currently pegged as #4, with a .206 BAA is the hardest pitcher in baseball from whom to manage a hit. Even the Phillies, with their East Coast touted top three starters, must be a bit eyes westward, considering what the Giants may cast against them and shudder.
