Game Time Approach-eth
Tonight’s AZ line up is a joke— we should destroy them. I took the Giants at -210 because i thought it was a lock for them to win their 89th game on THE BONEY ONE’S birthday, but now I’m pissed I didn’t give 1.5 at even money. We destroy them tonight, 9-1……
I got get my TV fixed … sounded like Krukow called Hampton a strike thrower.
Perhaps not a strike thrower.
But apparently, he *is* a standing Hampton
Yep, we’re spoiled. 3-2 lead in the 7th. Wrap it up. Ramirez and Lopez have been amazing and easily outpitched their former numbers since joining the good guys.
Authentic homo.
As opposed to an unauthentic homo
did you know my friends in Canada call milk “homo”? really
Homogenzied, right?
Time for new friends (gay ass smiley face)
Nice slider
How’d all these homeless guys get tickets?
Ramirez does his job. Bit of insurance would be nice.
Junior-Runt does his job.
1st and 2nd no out in the bottom 7 and then Dempster struck out the side. 4-2 Cubbies.
Time for little PAT The BAT
No more Prado for ATL…
YES
Burrell
What are they trying trying to do???Win the division???
Pat the Bat!!! Real huge insurance run!!!
Ishi time
One of these characters had to do it. Bit of insurance through the friendly and helpful agency of Pat the Bat.
Wrap this fucker up Juan
Wonder what is Ishi’s current PH BA.
Unburrevable ! ! !
Big fat ins run there . . .
Another Soriano HR and Cubbies up 5-2. Evening’s looking sweeter.
Pat the friggin Bat. Dude takes a good AB most every time…
I love this fucking pen.
And
phew
Ishikawa is now 15 for 45 .333 as a PH, 5 doubles (most in baseball), 1 Hr, 6 RBI.
Nate is 9 for 29, .310 1 HR 3 RBI
God love him!
Oh yeah..God does
Sanchee showed maturity tonite. Wild early, he fought it and then corralled it, and got the job done with only two given up. Earlier years, he woiulda friggin imploded with that kind of wildness. Nice effort…
Pepto and Tequila time. Now what should I call this drink? Pink Chiwawa?
great call ump
Always worry in these situations as Wilson’s pitch counts get high in only the 8th.
Then again, what else do have to do but worry?
Thank you Chris Riley!!!!
One lesson you sort of learn watching MLB … the more emphatic the call, the worse is probably is!
Dumb over managing. Leave Romo in. Anyone remember that Nenn’s career ended because Baker threw him till his arm fell off in 2002?
I agree.
Wrongo Bongo. Lopez has been death on LHers. And Wilson is a horse. Absolutely played it right.
A little late to be sweating Wilson’s workload, children. Chance to move 2 up- you bring him in. Not even arguable.
boooyah
I thought he didn’t go and I am 6000 miles away
but I’ll take it.
always makes me nervous as these breaks even themselves out.
Isn’t LaRoche the guy that wanted to play anywhere but in SF?
Yeah. He felt he’d be too tempted by the Folsom Street Fair
Problem with that Dude, it fell off before they won the whole thing.
Well, Willson got it done. But, looks like he doesn’t have his best stuff or control. I don’t like Wilson in the 8th much. I’m afraid he’s heading into tired arm territory and we definitely need him in lock down mode later in the week….
Whew!
snarkk, are you fucking kidding me?
It would be good strategy if he hadn’t been doing it a lot lately. Now Wilson unavailable tomorrow unless he breezes in the 9th..
Bullshit. Wilson un available? Have you guys just started watching games this year?
This AIN’T the fucking Orioles
Thta comes off as bitching just to bitch
That’s exactly what it is. Good call.
I don’t know if you call it “overmanaging,” but it’s nail-down-a-pennant managing. Bochy didn’t make a habit of it, but expanded rosters and 2 days off for Wilson made it impossible to pass up, I’m sure.
I thought maybe he’d use another right hander besides Wilson, knowing he might want to use Wilson about 6 games in a row.
Yeah maybe you are right, BUT I’m thinking about today NOT tomorrow.
Pablo is looking friggin HUGE. I think he’s bigger than mid season. Yet, good 2 for 3 tonite. Maybe I and the trainers have him figured all wrong. He hits better the BIGGER he gets…
Snarkk said that about Timmy in June . . .
‘Tired arm’ that is.
No one can predict when you’ll need the closer. You don’t fucking save him “just in case”. And if another guy was good to nail this one down, the same fucker oughta be good tomorrow. It called for his best guy.
It was Gibson’s stupidity that cost them tonight sticking with Lopez against Nate.WTF you bring in Hampton and all we have to counter with is Rowand.LOL
Kat, who are you rooting for? Go over to the Snakes blog if you want to give Gibson some shit. He can go out on the field and puke his brains out for all I care (as long as the we win).
Going with Wilson in the 8th to save a HUGE game that is, obviously, savable — makes sense.
I do sympathize with those who remember Nen ripping apart his rotator cuff at the end of 2002. Wilson had Tommy John surgery when he was young. That’s (apparently) why the Giants got him so late in the draft. Yet he shows no signs of arm discomfort now, much less injury. Maybe we just have to accept the fact that he’s really this strong. (Hell, does anyone else have the balls to dye his beard so bizarrely black? He’s a monster.)
Magic Number: 5
He looks fucking exhausted.
Magic Number: 4
Final: Cubs 5- SD -2.
4
Yeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaah!!!
congrats…beautiful day
2 games up baby!
Way to close it out Beachboy!!!
2 UP, BABY!!!!!!
Nice job by Sanchez to regroup . . .
Woo-Hoo!!!
Giants baby!!! Giants!
It’s magic number 4 inside, right? Yes.
89-68. Two game lead. Now it’s looking like the Braves feeling none too chipper and not carrying a Prado purse.
What the fuck is going on with Hazel May’s knees?
Synchronicity. Padres lose, Giants win seconds later. A Coney Island of the mind. City lights shining brightly, along Baghdad by the Bay. Yasss, yasss, yasss. On the road to October.
Ishi and Nate get PHs. Pablo back in the saddle. Fontenot gettin it done. Pat the Bat swinging a good stick. It’s all good. Hey, I said sometimes Boch needs to manage with hair on fire. He did it tonite with Wilson and it worked. But, he’s been gettin a lot of work lately, that’s all I’m sayin. Maybe throttle back to just the 9th tomorrow…
snarkk, you know when you “submitted” that post you were being rash.
It depends on the individual game condition
Wilson’s fucking on. Come on
Hey, he’s been fuckin on all season, no kidding. And, he’s human. He’s probably the key player on the team, I just don’t want him overworked. I wouldn’t have put him in there that early after a bunch of work in Denver, despite the day off. You guys disagree or that’s rash, whatever. I’m happy it worked out. I just remember the Nenn thing, and don’t wanna see a redux, because it looks like the team has a shot at something special. Nite all, my tumbler is tasting pretty good with a 2 game lead….
For the Giants this may be the last tense one till several days into October. For the Padres it is nothing but tension from here on in with the Magic Number meaning any combination of SD losses and SF wins brings the West on home to McCovey Cove at China Basin. Classy city. Class team.
Sometimes they do just what it takes to win. But like Gertrude Stein almost said: “A win is a win is a win”. Two more Giants wins plus two more Pads losses and we’re in like Flynn.
Wishing all the Flappers a good night and Happy Halloween Machine dreams.
Again, you don’t know when you’ll need the closer- that could be the last time this year in a meaningful game. That was a total no brainer.
Division, children.
Good matchups.
Baseball.
Ferrett’s comment.
Goodnight, gentlemen (question mark)
It’s no longer a huge stretch that they could at least have a tie clinched before the SD series. HUGE win.. yeah would have been totally fucking cool to lose it with his 4th best RH reliever…
Just to elaborate a bit on two unsung heroes this year: Travis who I’ve backed, and Nate-who I haven’t. 24 for75 .320 for the LH pinch hitters, and many key ones for both. These young guys have performed the way vets are usually expected to perform off the bench. Better. I doubt there are two better guys in their roles in the league. Bravo.
With a HUGE game like this savable in the 8th you go for the save. 2 runs up, then? At this point in the season? And Wilson is the king of saves.
Everything worked the way it was supposed to work against a somewhat-fired- up spoiler team with some real hitters. Meanwhile, SD continues to lose. So now — does it really make sense to move Lincecum up? If Bumgarner is as strong as he seemed to be last time out–no. Let Bum pitch tomorrow and let Tim take an extra day of rest. But — a done deal elsewise, apparently. I wonder who made the decision.
I need to reach out to other MLB fans here in the UK and we can watch the playoffs together.
Embrace the future, cherish the past, but live the now.
GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT!
Your magic number is 4
Most amazing of all perhaps, they’ve moved to the cusp of the postseason.. without starting Darren Ford.
…if the last game of the season isn’t a have-to-win game, Darren needs to start!
I”m no pitching coach, as you probably know … but I thought Wilson’s delivery, or more precisely his follow through was different tonight. Maybe tired, but I suppose everyone is. You’re supposed to be tired, just not exhausted. Or something like that. And I suspect Wilson isn’t.
As I recall, Nen was used 5 games in a row when his velocity was ALREADY declining. It seemed criminal neglect and dereliction on Baker’s part, but what can you say when the player is a party to it? He obviously thought it was worth it. Yeah, it hurt the Giants for years after, but what did Baker care?
As another sidebar, Nen was none too good in those playoffs, even before the Series. I recall bombs and rockets finding gloves with runners on base to end each series.
Don’t get me wrong … I’m not suggesting this is Wilson’s fate. Exactly the opposite because HIS performances aren’t declining and, well, he’s a lot younger.
Contest looks like it will go right down to the wire. Several of you can still win it.
