Denny/Loo–just for kicks, I checked to see if our old “horse racing blog” is still at the Chron. And it is. Hilarious. Remember the day that we topped the Chron’s Most Active blog list? 3 dudes, a million comments. Ah, we dominated that day, didn’t we? They have archived all of the best comments, there are only a few up there right now.

The MLB network is all-Giants all-day today. It’s cool being the champion.

Hey, the ad execs at the Gate must have taken us seriously. A few weeks after we dominated the blog comments, the ad for the Jockey Club popped up on the Splash, Insider along with the old Bay to Beijing. We were a hot commodity.

I’m nominating CENTRAL CITY as the blog horse for the day. Dudes on TVG were saying how he had a “tie up” procedure prior to his last race. The endoscopy showed only one of his two breathing “flaps” was working properly. One flapped opened while the other stayed closed or down. The vets “tied up” the non-working flap so air can constantly reach his lungs. Trainer said he was only receiving about 40-50% prior to the fix.

Well, his flap is fixed and tied while the other “normal” flap will be flapping up and down as he runs.
CENTRAL CITY in the Turf Sprint is your oneflapdown pick of the day.

Henry is talking Jeter, let’s look at some 2010 numbers:
    Jeter 663 AB 10 HR 67 RBI .270 BA . .710 OPS UZR/150 SS minus 5.4 WAR: 2.5 Dollar Value: 9.8 Million
    Uribe 521 AB 24 HR 85 RBI .248 BA .749 OPS UZR/150 SS 3.3 WAR: 3.2 Dollar Value12.9 Million
I offer Juan exactly Fruckie money and I’d bet he jumped on it: 2 years, 6 per…
    Huff: 2 years at 8 per but I’d go 3 at 7…
Edgar: one year, 3 million if he makes the squad.
Sabes says he wants all 8 arb eligible guys back, I concur. I think Fontenot could be a huge contributer next year.
My other thought on FA is LaRoche. Loo made me. Seriously, Huff in left, LaRoche at first and they can give one of the kid SS the shot for the job.

They’ve made the regimen and instructions for Pablo very very clear. It’s quite time to just see how he does with it. At a certain point, and we’re at it, the attention is no longer productive for him or the team..

    • alleykat's avatar alleykat said, on November 6, 2010 at 2:41 pm

I’m sure Bochy chose San Diego for Pablo’s off-season workout program for a few reasons: 1) Keep him away from his friends, family and party scene back home in Venezuela and the Bay Area and( 2) Keep him close enough to keep the fear of his manager in his heart and so Bochy can pay him a visit and keep in touch with the FO on his progress.Bochy has a winter home in San Diego. There is also speculation that he is arranging for Pablo to work with someone from Camp Pendleton.

A Day Away From Baseball? Okay. Okay.
Posey is my personal choice for MLB NL RoY but he’s, like , so…so-so as a basketball player. Last night, with the Pacers, he was like 3 for 7, 1 fucking assist and 3 personal fouls. I mean, the dude’s…what?…Really?…oh
    Never mind

  12. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on November 6, 2010 at 10:49 am

Why the hell is Loo? It’s not an official Breeders’ Cup without him. They don’t need any exercise riders at the Big A. so don’t waste your time.

My pick for the Juv Turf is UTLEY. But he’s named for the Phucking Phillies second baseman, so I can’t find it within myself to bet him. NO BETS.

I think I just saw Pablo schooling in the paddock.

I’m done with the Splash, at least for a few months. The troll-spam just isn’t fun to wade through over there. Even if you have them on Ignore, you still have to wade through their blanked out messages. It’s like wading through junk-mail. There’s a certain part of me that is competitive, and that doesn’t want the trolls to win, but….at that un-moderated site, the trolls get to win. They are allowed to mess up that forum.
Thanks for the Flap, BF. It’s nice to have this forum.

Haven’t The Giants been part of rumors for a Japanese SS that has or will be posted by a club over there?

  15. Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on November 6, 2010 at 12:38 pm

How bout J.J. hardy to play SS? Always kind of liked him w/ the Brew Crew. Didn’t see him as much in the AL w/ the Twins. Maybe a return to the NL would be up his alley. How’d he look in Minnesota, TF?

  16. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on November 6, 2010 at 1:11 pm

Z, you have the right idea. The Winter trolls are taking over.. why oh why oh why would anyone want to spend time talking trash about the greatest sport in the world?
Del: pass on Hardy.. more and more I like giving the 3 kids a shot with Juan and/or Rent as the insurance…

Dennis, did you have the Dorf at 35-1 ? I think that’s the first breeder’s cup for a No Calif trainer/Horse.

    • Del Mar Dennis's avatar delmardennis said, on November 6, 2010 at 3:38 pm

Did I have a 35-1 shot? You must have me sadly mistaken with somebody else.

Queen Z hovering around 3 or 4/5. That’s a bet against. I know she’s going for perfection, but nobody is perfect. I wish the big girl well but this is her toughest task to date. Don’t know if she’ll like the CD surface or not. I’ll try and beat her. Can’t BLAME me for trying.

I believe Brandon Belt is scheduled to appear in the rising stars game coming up on the MLB Net at 6:00; at least according to Marty Lurie anyway.

Cats at the Cardinal should be a good ‘un. Andrew Luck could start for the Niners next week and give them a better chance.

  25. twinfan's avatar twinfan said, on November 6, 2010 at 6:07 pm

Just talked to Blade-I think he’s happy with his new PC. I’m working on another HTPC right now, not sure what I’ll do with this one. Jut trying to keep busy really. Put a Solid State Drive in this one, burner, 2 GB RAM, Intel Dual Core 3 GHZ, I’ll add a TV Tuner Card…don’t sell much locally, no one has $ here. Most of the repairs I do are free or swap for stuff like weed eating or enchilada dinners…

  26. blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on November 6, 2010 at 6:34 pm

Definitely happy with it Mike . . . Do you recall when you, Flav and I chatted about a pc performance web site and I mentioned one and you countered with another one that was much better? I want to test it, but I can’t remember the site you recommended.

My first look at Brandon Belt. He’s big- 6’5″. He’s 0 for 2 so far, with two walks. Has a good eye for the strikezone. I heard Marty Lurie talking about him today. Lurie seemed to forget that Huff can play the outfield. If Belt can win the firstbase spot, put Huff in leftfield. If Panda can win the thirdbase spot, then De Rosa is a potential super-sub kind of player. Those are a lot of questions, but the upside is tremendous if Panda and Belt can contribute next season. Our team will be re-loading nicely for the future.
