A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Juan Uribe

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on November 28, 2010

First of all, I like the arbitration offer. I think we are going to end up seeing Uribe go somewhere else for 2 year/14 millionish so we might as well get a pick for him. I know  Sabean would want to do a 1 year deal with Uribe, not so sure he’s got it in him to go multiple years. I would love to have Uribe back and I’d be on board the 2 year offer. I just don’t see it happening…..

Slowly getting back into the swing of things here in the Bay Area; just got back from a few days in Arizona. Hope you all had a thankful Thanksgiving…..

It’s kind of funny how little we hear about Manny Ramirez this off-season. Some teams will put up with his act, if he can hit well. But he doesn’t hit well anymore. It’s been all downhill since his steroid bust.

Manny says he’s going to sit out a year if he doesn’t get $ he’s accustomed too. Good for him. And good riddance.

And just visualize a bunch of Dodger fans dumping their souvenir Manny dreadlocks into the trash, hoping that no one remembers that they ever wore them at a game.

I just saw that Twin is doing a Uribe thread too. Sorry, didn’t catch that till after I started this one. Not much else to talk about till the Winter meetings, probably. Twin, do you have a Uribe Contest going? Where he ends up and what the terms are? If not that could be a good one….

My mini-contests have not drawn any interest so I’m just giving away stuff for good posts. I’ll change my thread to something else, BTW..

Tucking into the Turkey Barley soup right now. Thank goodness for football today, I’m very antsy to get the MRI tomorrow and hopefully start to get off the meds.
As to Uribe, I think Fruckie bucks is the most he’ll get from anybody: 2 years at 6 per. Tuesday, I believe, is the deadline for accepting or rejecting arb. I’d think his people already have a good idea what he can get if he rejects it, so we’ll see. If he bolts, they do get that sandwch pick, should be a good player…

Ken Rosenthal is another who thinks Juan could very well be headed to LA-LA Land. http://tinyurl.com/2ckdkt3

Sorry, Juan, but if you don the blue. You get the same treatment as much as the next guy.

Uribe’s 31. Decent defender. Versatile. Gets big hits. I’d like to see the Giants in arbitration go as far as a one-year offer at double last year’s salary of $3.25M. $6.5M would go a long ways towards fending off the LaBumbos, even if it were only that single year with a club option for ’12. Thinking that guys like Burriss, Crawford, Gilaspie and Adrianza should add up to one or more I.F. options by that year. Team makes an offer like that and LA will have to go multi-years and at some fairly hefty bucks.

If I’m Uribe I am going multi-year with anyone who’s offering it. The last couple of years, this it it baby, he’s MAXED OUT on potential. He’s not getting any better, one year deals are for “make good” guys. If he can get 3 years 18-20 mil with someone, go get it big guy. “Adios pelota” and we will catch you on the flip side….

Tweet from Baggs: Dodgers drove up price on Huff. Now are after Uribe. I think Colletti is also eyeing the leftover turkey sammich Sabean is having for lunch.

Juan-Gone is looking more long-gone by the minute. I’ll take JJ Hardy and like it.

Well, hell. Zumie, send me your address for the USB hub. I’ve decided that, based on nothing at all, you are Poster Of the Weekend…

POTW—that’s a coveted-ass award, Zumie. Congrats….The Dodgers are just stupid dnough to overpay for Uribe and like I said, collect your dough and begin your certain decline back to mediocrity (away from ATT)…….
