A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

I Hate Ryan Dempster…..

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 29, 2011

I really do. I don’t know why, maybe it’s his name. I have know a couple of hot women named Ryan in my life and I don’t like dude’s named “Ryan”. One of them spells her name “Rian”. That’s almost more annoying than Dempster’s dominance tonight……

I haven’t read anything tonight, I just saw a random rumor on the last messed up thread about us re-acquiring Uribe.

I would be 100% in support of that. This team needs something. It’s needs his mojo. And his mojo doesn’t work unless it’s connected to AT&T Park. He can play SS this year or 2nd, whatever. Just bring him back. I know what his numbers are, they are about what I thought he’d do away from AT&T. There’s magic inside, and Juan gets that NOW  it’s got nothing to do with pussy white and blue. Black and Orange, baby. That’s where your colors are………

Unfortunately, I don’t think Juan would want to come back. That story that leaked about the 45K he owed his landlord didn’t come from the landlord. Someone in the org leaked it. He left over a million bucks, there were other things going on. But both parties should put their petty differences aside and remember what made them both their strongest: each other.

I want Juan Uribe back on this team………..

What’s the deal with bullshit leaks when players and managers leave SF? Weak tit if you ask me.

What about that little runt Eckstein? He had a decent line last year.

      Neg on Eck……He sucks.
I don’t know what is up with SF team that leak shit. The Giants leaked shit aobut Baker’s IRS probs. There was another one I can’t remember. And then the Uribe *kitchen fire* bullshit. I’m assuming this all comes from Baer, mostly because I don’t like him………

That’s good and I agree. Although, I think Baker blamed Magowan for the IRS thing but I wouldn’t put it past Peter to have his little yes man do it for him.

The padres actually passed LA and moved into 4th. Just think if they’d kept AGon and decided to build around the guy What a f-ed up mess dodgers are, even with Kemp lighting up the season. If I remember it right, they are still paying Manny, andruw jones, and juan pierre, and still don’t have a LF. Carroll is having a better season than Uribe, but I can’t imagine LA doing anything to help out the giants.
Mets have been hammering detroit, and they now are 41-39, despite being under .500 at home. They are only 5 games worse than Braves, who have top WC spot right now at half way point. Unless they tank soon, I don’t see how they could dump off their best player, and maybe the MVP of the league, for prospects.

Wrigley weather: Winds blowing out to left field at 10-15 m.p.h. Game-time temperature: Around 80. On this day back in ’78, Willie Mac hit #500 off of Atlanta’s Jamie Easterly as the Giants lost 10-5 in the second game of a doubleheader at Fulton County Stadium.

You like how I tied in “Easterly” into the weather report? You guys don’t know it, but I can be pretty clever sometimes…

Shea has brief article on Mark ellis, who is down to playing 1b and 3b in Melvin’s LU when he is there at all. I always liked this guy, and would have been happier to see SF get him than Freddy Sanchez. He most likely wouldn’t do much to help the O, but solid with the glove, class act.
Every day in mlb is new and different…two days ago there were 43 HRs hit, yesterday half that, and more SBs than HRs, 29-21. Mets scored 16 and did hit one HR.
Lot of ways to win a game, or lose one. I didn’t see any of yesterday, only caught miller on the postgame…did burriss have a chance to score if he had been halfway on Huff’s bloop? Miller seemed to imply burriss fucked up, that going back to the bag was not the right play at all. Burriss, btw, said “No shot” to score…just covering his ass or not?

  9. willieD's avatar willieD said, on June 30, 2011 at 9:08 am

mets did “not” hit one HR.

  10. Flavor's avatar Flavor said, on June 30, 2011 at 9:31 am

Burriss did NOT fuck up. If he gets doubled up there he gets skewered for a week. By playing it safe we still had 1 out and the bases loaded. Ross didn’t deliver, plain and simple….

I don’t see what the big deal is about getting someone by trade, FA, or whatever, If the Giants were in the East, they would be 5.5 games behind Philly, they would have plenty of time to catch Philly.they would be in 1st place in the Central and they are in 1st place in the West. Botchy manuevering players and Sabe’s acquiring players worked last year. Can it work this year? So far as I can tell it is still working. What makes this tougher on us as Giants fans is we want another WS title. but so do the Giants. Repeating is very hard to do! Look at all pro sports, not many do it. Are the Giants competitive…absolutely. Will they make the playoffs with no player moves?? Probably. yep the glass is half full!!

Thank you Kevin for providing a little bit of reality to the discussion of “Whoa is me regarding the Giants.” These are the facts per a cut and paste I did from Yahoo’s game notes:

“The division-leading Giants finished the halfway point of the season 46-35. A year ago, when they went on to win the World Series, they were 41-40 and in fourth place in the NL West, 7 1/2 games out of first.”

  13. TedSpe's avatar TedSpe said, on June 30, 2011 at 10:13 am

Kevin and Blade, yup. They’ll have to prove me wrong to *not* make the playoffs. I make no WS predictions but post season? In the words of L.T. Firbank in SAINT JACK…Indubitably

I wanted a first baseman before the season, still think that’s the way to go at the deadline. As Baggarly says, Pena would be a good choice.Huff to left..I hammered Uribe’s splits into your litlle “B” brains over and over- he definitely got his career boost from ATT-but it’s over. His start this year combined with his second half 2010, you can’t go home again. No way on Juan. But again- they are winning the division as-is, any acquisitions should be with the postseason in mind.

    • Bozo's avatar Bozo said, on June 30, 2011 at 12:41 pm

Man I hate saying this, but what about Pena for Ishi (if he’s not still hurt)? The Cubs dump salary, they would have a First baseman for the rest of the year and if they don’t like Ishi they don’t have to offer him arb next year. I know it doesn’t sound like much for Pena but a salary dump might be enough.

Yeah, WillieD, even after the CF misplayed the ball, it was under and behind him, so Burriss didn’t see the miss or see it roll away. No way he scores without the risk of being doubled off.

    Chicago Tribune
Carlos Zambrano left Thursday’s game against the Giants in the second inning after a visit from trainer Mark O’Neal.

Zambrano was seen stretching his back in the first inning and then had an awkward play at first base in the second ining, which led to an error and a run.

He was behind 1-0 and left two runners on base when leaving. Marcos Mateo relieved.

So I think I have this figured out now. When we play doubleheaders, we score no problem. Single game only, we blow like the wind. We don’t need an infusion of new players, we need to talk to the schedule maker.
