Translating Our Calendar
Well, there’s “August 23rd” and then there’s “August 23rd!!!!!!!!!”. Turns out I put too many exclamation points in that bad boy and it turned into an earthquake on the east coast. Didn’t know my own strength……
But seriously, if yesterday’s game knocked you out then you are basically *Michael Spinks*. Come on, did anyone appreciate that comeback? August 23rd was not a day that I predicted a win. It’s a day I marked as an opportunity for change. And as I pointed out last night, only to the dimmest of the dim does change happen overnight. I reserve the right to stand up like a man and admit being dead wrong about this team but today I stand strongly behind them. We will win this division and we will win it fairly easily. Speaking of hitting, Juan Marichal popped into my brain housing unit . . . I’ll preface this by saying he was my favorite pitcher of all time, but he couldn’t hit his way out of a paper bag, much less break a papier-mâché pinata.

His stance wasn’t as bad as gamer, but weird nonetheless. He had a .165 average.

Cain’s hitting gets over-rated because of the 4 homeruns. He’s actually not a good-hitting pitcher overall.
One thing he did do tonight is throw one helluva game. Nine baserunners in 8 innings, five of them by way of walks. A hefty 124 pitches. May the BP survivors do right by him. With an average attack behind him, Lincecum would be looking at about win #18 tonight.

Pelfrey threw 125 pitches today at Philly — in 6 innings! The big one was 42 pitches in the 2nd. And he still got the win.
