3 rooms left at the Inn…
The candidates..
Hembree- big season has him closing or setting up in the bigs- but not now- maybe August
Otero- long shot
Petit, Gaudin, or Loux- if Lincecum and/or Zito scare Bochy and they go to a long guy/spot starter
Proctor- a long way back, 83 games in ’07 might have fried him. Still a legit chance
Runzler- might look to replace Lopez or Mijares next year. Still a great arm.
Rosario- Bochy likes strike throwers- has a shot depending on Ramirez and whether they go long with a Petit/Gaudin type
Edlefsen- don’t see it
Ramirez-the front runner, but hardly a lock
Position Players:
Pequero- he’s been seen by many scouts as better than Brown. I think he’s the favorite if they carry 5 true OFers
Kieschnick- like Chi, I love him. I can see a 2014 OF of Peguero/or Brown, Pagan, Roger. “Keecky” needs to kick major ass in AAA this year.
Brown- is he Butler or just another bunny? The jury’s out. He’ll open in Fresno, IMO.
Gillespie- nothing left to prove in the minors, I see it as Cole/Peguero/Pill as the duel
Pill- last shot to move up from AAAA- Japan? I’m rooting for him here…
Perez- sleeper, could sneak in
Noonan- former second baseman of the future, competion is Tanaka, Abreu, Valdez, Bond
Bond- no respect guy just hits.
That’s quite a scrum for three spots.I left some out that I don’t think have a shot.

Good breakdown TF. Agree about Brown and Keecky. Really intrigued by Perez, but think he will also go down and work on some things. Tanaka hasn’t hit yet, but think he has the inside edge over Noonan although Noonan proven he can play SS as well as 2b. Peguero off to a good start. I’d love to see him have a break through.
Torres, and Mijarles ruled out of the WBC….
Vungo has an.oblique strain.
Mijarles,elbow stiffness.
Boof and Tony Abreu, two guys that I thought might be in the running for jobs this spring, haven’t played. Are they hurt or did they already get cut?
Can’t find either of them on an injury report or anywhere else. Vungo could be in trouble. He’s listed “possibly ready for opening day”.
Once in a while it strikes me what big decisions will be happening for the Giants this season. Lincecum, Pence, and Zito will be free agents. In addition to trying to get back to the playoffs, the Giants also have some interesting future personnel decisions to make. Hopefully all three of those guys do well this season, and the Giants find a way to re-sign them.
I enjoyed watching the Giants game yesterday. It was just a bask-athon watching them play. It’s a different feeling than 2011 in some ways. The Angels broadcasters were very respectful of the Giants, their voices tinted with a bit of awe. The Giants are hugely respected in the baseball world.
Regardless of how Tim does this year, the thought of him in another uniform is very upsetting.
Maybe we can trade him for Alex Rios..
Agree, Loo. But, I think it will happen, one way or another…
The worse he does the better chance we have keeping him.
After a nice first outing, JSanchez had a rough one today- 2/3 IP 3 H 4 BB…
Pagan,Pence,Blanco,Gillapsie and Pequero the 5 Outfielders,i could see.shaking out.Vungo needs to get healthy first.Could be DL to start the year.
I didn’t expect a lot from Torres when they re-signed him, and this may be a portent of things to come.
They really need to look at their minor league OF options this ST and see if somebody can stand out from the crowd…
You didn’t like him when he was producing in 2010 either.
There’s still a large misperception about his career. He became productive in 2007 when he started taking his ADD drugs. It was the leg problems and med issues that caused him to lose his pop in 2011, not the “one year wonder” nonsense, or a preoccupation with HRs.. IMO
This latest injury coud be devastating to his career, however.
Dick’s sporting goods?
Apropos of nothing, but what a douche bag . . .

I think it’s a given that they’ll be looking to add a veteran outfielder with some pop somewhere around the trade deadline.
More likely that Brown or Peguero will be starting.
Given Sabean & Bochy’s history, I think your scenario is far less likely.
Boswell’s 99th reason baseball is better than football.
“Most of all, baseball is better than football because spring training is less than a month away.”

too freakin’ cool; the hippy heritage is alive and well.
How do they get them on the plane? (if they travel by plane)
great music video
“You didn’t like him when he was producing in 2010 either.”
That’s baloney. Fans like every player that’s producing. It’s the Golden Rule of Fandom. And then when they stop producing, it’s…..here’s your gold watch, enjoy (insert hobby of your choice.)
And then the fans say “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”
The cynical ones anyway.
Torres is unique. Hard to not pull for him even when he was struggling. It would be a shame if injuries hamper him, since he wanted nothing more than to return here.
Almost everybody loved Andres-and while I didn’t like the trade initialy, I posted early on that Vungo’s continuing leg problems were jeopardizing his career. Anyone who knows the game even a little bit knows you can’t generate power if your legs aren’t beneath you. This is a different injury but it’s a trend. That’s a *realistic* take, not a notion based on an irrational dislike for Torres.
Z: Snarkk should be able reply himself, or not.
That’s bullshit- Snarkk bitched about him all season long in in 2010. Pay attention.
I was using the reply correcty but it is not functioning.” Bullshit” was for Z’s unobservant comment.
Yeah, telling me twice to be observant seemed kind of overly ironic. (grin)
Hey, I’m open to self-improvement. I think that’s a good goal for everyone, no matter where they are in their journey.
Expecting much from Torres this year is fool’s errand. There’s no rational reason to expect he’ll produce much, given his history since 2010. Maybe he will surprise, likely he won’t. If he does, great, if not, get somebody that does produce. Sabean traded him because he thought he wouldn’t produce, and Pagan would, and Sabes was right. I think they should have kept Melky, but most here weren’t for that. I did not “dislike” Torres, far from it, that’s your issue, not mine. I look for production. I never “disliked” the Gamer as a person, regardless that he produced about half a season out of 4, or 5, when you consider his DFA year. Timmeh is one of my favorites, he sucked last year. I don’t “disklike” him, but he needs to produce, same as Torres or anybody else. So get off your soapbox, or it’ll be a long season when I, and others, criticize players you, for whatever reason, protect against “dislike”…
I say pass the HGH around the locker room and let’s go win another title.
Who’s kiddin’ who?
Torres defense, esp in RF where he used to take away the dinks and foul pops, was another great part of his appeal to me. When your legs are giving you problems, it’s hard to go all out and concentrate on getting to hard to catch stuff. Hope he can get back to full strength at some point.
At ATT the RF have to shade middle, and if a RH batter with pop is being pitched away that’s where his most wide open territory is going to be. A guy that can take away most of that becomes very valuable.
the oblique is the new baseball flu. And has been for a few years now. Lots of it going around, both little and big and it is an injury with serious effect.
core people core, and warm up completely and keep those muscles warm.
