A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Game Time Thread!

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 21, 2013

Bored at work today, me and a buddy put together our “All Overpaid/No Production” team for 2013. DL guys didn’t count. 6 SP’s, 2 closers, and one position player for each position. No DH’s since they don’t count. That’s tomorrow’s thread. Now, just as Sisyphus did so many times with his boulder, we prepare for another great battle against these titans, The Miami Marlins. I don’t know how we’re gonna do it, but facing 9 straight losses to this dynasty should provide at least a little motivation…….

I am liking the line-up shake-ups we have been seeing lately. The sound of Bruce’s big brain grinding and straining to get the team doing its thing is a thing to behold. Not sitting still. Working the strengths (Belt makes the bench stronger) and weaknesses of the players he’s got. Looking for that magic.

I read that twice, what did this have to do with the BBoTD?
I’m a million miles away from Anna and her crew these days.
I could see them coming back one day. But not now.
It’s sunny and perfect and baseball and Summer is here. I’ll take all the real shit every day, every goddamn day until it goes away….

      • Locojuan's avatar Bozo said, on June 21, 2013 at 8:42 pm

Wait, that was a post about the BBOTD? Dude, time for holiday, maybe someplace where you can see a tan line.
        Cheers

      • eddacker's avatar eddacker said, on June 21, 2013 at 8:43 pm

        1. It actually had nothing to do with BBoTD, but my answer to Bozo got your attention. hehe
        2. It is the first day of summer and I saw a woman walking around town today wearing a coat that would work during an antarctic trek. I wish they all could be California girls
        3. I do not miss Anna and the other milfs of limited virtue, but the girl-next-door choices have brightened my day.

Good to hear Miller confirm what a few of us have harped on- Scooter shouldn’t be trying to bunt the runner to third early in the game..

    • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 said, on June 21, 2013 at 8:31 pm

I don’t doubt that for a secoind. I’ve just been outspoken about it ever since Fruckie was doing it . Bochy had to order him to stop. I think Flavor was outspoken about it as well.

Da: a lot of guys buy into the nonsense of giving up an out early in the game with a runner in scoring position. And a guy hitting .335, double dumb.

Nipper, log-in to the Flap, ASAP. We’re concerned!

“(06-21) 19:41 PDT — Firefighters and the U.S. Coast Guard were working Friday evening to locate a van that drove into the bay off the Marina Green in San Francisco, authorities said.

Witnesses reported seeing the van careening through a nearby parking lot at about 20 miles per hour just after 5:05 p.m., said Assistant Fire Chief Bob Postel. The van jumped a curb near the San Francisco Marina Yacht Harbor and flew into the bay.”

Speaking of the Central Valley, you have to feel some sympathy for Affeldt. He had previously agreed to appear today in a Central Valley city to help dedicate a new baseball field funded by the Junior Giants program, and that had to have been tough to make that drive today after the tough loss last night, to show up and be positive and cheerful for the crowd at the park today. And deal with kind of an awkward situation because the crowd knows what happened in the game last night, and they might be worried about what kind of mood he was in. I have no doubt Affeldt probably cracked a few jokes and put everyone at ease. I seriously doubt he was gloomy or surly at the event.

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on June 21, 2013 at 9:32 pm

Oh lighen up Mike. If he stops at 2nd, he doesn’t jam his knee and he doesn’t get thrown out. Get it? Of course not.

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on June 21, 2013 at 9:33 pm

      • twinfan1's avatar twinfan1 said, on June 21, 2013 at 9:40 pm

You. Like always. At first, Schulman thought it was a bad play too. Then he admitted he thought triple right away after it bounded away from Stanton…. and it took a perfect throw. Your’re wrong, Chuckles…

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on June 21, 2013 at 9:58 pm

What’s the oldest adage in the book. Mike? Don”t make the 1st or 3rd out a 3rd base. It was stupid. He was thrown out by 5 feet. Bad play. Plain and simple. Schulman is the determinig factor? Funny.

      • unca_chuck's avatar unca_chuck said, on June 21, 2013 at 9:59 pm

I’ll even explain it to you. See, the runner, by stopping at 2nd, is still in scoring position. The risk to get to 3rd outweighs the benefit.

        You’re welcome.
