The failure to let Pence try to steal on his own just really POs me. Typical Bochy. We need to go for broke, make something happen. No, he will only go so far as hit and run. Why? The OF is playing deep in a no doubles mode, so if you do the hit and run, even if the hitter smokes one in the gap, chances are Pence can’t score on the hit anyway. So, you have to let him try to steal 2nd base, and get a base hit to knock him in. The chances of two straight hits vs. Jantzen are slim with this bunch right now. Jantzen has a long, slow motion home. Pence could probably have gotten the bag stolen, and Crawford’s hit would have knocked him in…
