Waking Up to A Win
I admit it. I didn’t watch the whole game. Getting up at 4am has it’s limitations on when you ultimately shut your eyes to go to sleep.
But I caught the end of the game on mlb.com.
Glad we won, now I feel that we can at least relax a little on the wild card.
The baseball gods are shinning down on Gregor Blanco. He IS the White Shark once again.
He’s gonna have to be if we want to make any noise in the post season this year. I have counted out Pagan and Morse for the rest of the year…..
someone took a picture of Strickland and it looks like a painting. Check it out

We’re in for another doozie tonight boys.
So smoke em if you got em, and keep the alcohol flowing!π
Perez is such an awful hitter. Never gets off his back foot. My friend filmed me playing stickball last week.
I look like Mantle compared to him…
Man, Pence is in one of his bad turns, swings at ball 4 that seemed headed for the backstop and fouls out to the catcher.
After watching that great video posted by flav…RIP Chris Brown…
He’s out.
Pence is at .194 for September.
Hell of a play by Panda there. And Blanco
love when you challenge early and miss you cant challenge anymore
Had a great trip to SF last week. I apologize for not letting any of you locals know I was in town but it went by way too fast…Between a gay Mexican dude putting his arm around me while the piano guy sang Danny Boy at Lefty O’doul’s and me walking out without paying my tab at Lori’s diner it was a bit of a blur…I told my dad on Saturday that I was afraid the Giants peaked too early and that the Pirates were peaking at just the right time. I hope I was wrong.
Embracing gay men at Lefty O’Doul’s! Dining and Dashing at Lori’s! Sounds you like you had the full Union Square experience! Did you spend any time at Rasputin Records or maybe knock down a broiled steak at Tad’s?
Of course I did Rasputin’s. Every time I come back to the city, I get a big grin knowing one of the greatest indie record stores is still there. Tad’s was my first choice for a drunken late night meal, but I didn’t have the patience for the line.
I love Bum’s fire, but he needs to let some of this shit go sometimes. He gets riled up and loses focus, and that’s when dudes get some hits and dingers off of him. Puig isn’t stoopid enough to really go after Bum, he knows the Undertaker would kick his arse…
Need more than singles from Panda, Posey and Pence…
Watching that last pitch to Panda in slow motion shows what an awful swing that was. It would have hit dirt before getting to the catcher..
Scully has big plans for Hunter Strickland. Maybe as a SP next year.
Tad’s on Powell was one of my great childhood memories…what was the pizza by the slice down near the end of the cable car line? My last year before moving to DC living in he City included working across the street from the St. Francis at a hotel management company…Rasputin Records I don’t remember though…
Your thinking of Blondie’s pizza which is right next door to Rasputin’s. There is an even better pizza by the slice place next door to David’s delicatessen ( just up the hill) whose name escapes me.
Blondie’s was originally in Berkeley on Telegraph right near UC. Still is there.
When I was at Cal, cheese and pepperoni slices were $1. The workers even then looked like having a juvy rap sheet and multiple tats was a hiring requirement. We used to say “Blondies — pizza and an insult for a buck”…
Yep, the original is in Berkeley and I think there is or used to be one adjacent to the Rasputin’s in Concord near Sunvalley Mall. As a young teen, my parents wouldn’t let me venture alone to the Berkeley or SF location, so I had to make due with the one in the ‘burbs.
I’d give Pence a day off. Screw his consecutive game streak, he’s not going to get near Ripken in this life, so it’s meaningless IMO. He’s missing pitches by a foot…
Ball 4 and ball 5 there. Aaaaaak. Belt going for the golden shower, uh sombrero there.
Yep…
yeah. If Belt laid off one of those he had a walk instead of a K.
Wow, can’t we do better than Perez? Anybody? Put Ishi in the OF, for Pete’s sake…
Greinke’s a whimpy lookin’, lanky dude who looks like he could use some vitamins. But, he can pitch…
Bum is rolling tho: K of Puig, lazy one pitch fly out by AGon, K of Kemp, K of Hanley, K of Van pop fly U.
Maybe K is right and Bum hits for himself and goes another inning or 2.
Bum’s hitting there was no doubt, he’s the offense and pitching lights out since the 1 st..
Good AB by Bum, but dumb at the end. He wanted to kill it, should have just taken that high one for a walk…
Would love to have known what Bum and Ellis were jawing about. Gotta love Bum’s body language after the strikeout. You would’a thought he was the clean up hitter.
REVRET!!!
Giants just cannot do jack against Greinke. The fact that Bum is responsible for the runs is dispiriting…
Fuck. Down to three outs. Need to get the bums out quickly here, and put up a crooked number. I want them to beat Greinke so damned bad, although he may not be out for the 9th.
REVRET!!!
??? What the hell does that mean, Ted?
Yup. The pisser is how quick that 1st inning got away from Bummie.
Nope Barney Rubble’s at the plate, hitting for Cranky.
Is Dunston warming up Romo in the pen?
Nice, Kat…
Justin “Fat Fuck” Turner
Ahhhhh fuck. God I fucking hate the Dodgers.
That was a killer.
Fuckin Turner only got the start cause Gordon sucked balls to the extreme last night! Fuck LA
Yeah Fuck off Puig!!!!!!
Your stupid ass stare after swing at a pitch 6 ft outside makes you look even more of a moron!!
Fucking rally time Flappers!!!
Kroop or Kripe said this is a crowd of 49, 951.
WHO’S THE ONE?
Fuck Barney, no way Gordon or Turner make that play!
Panda, first ball swinging at crap. Shocking…
Fuck I hate the dodgers. And many people will say “but hate is such as strong an negative word.” Fuck that…let me say it again…I HATE THE bums.
And predictably Pablo swings at the first fucking pitch again….Jesus everyone knows he’ll chase first pitch
UHM
Ahh shit.
I have no clue how this offense will score anything against Kershaw. Bum better play LF…
Fuck! Get ’em tomorrow. Outside of that first inning, great outing by Bum…and all for not.
Kershaw is due for a loss, and Hudson is due to pull a gem out of his hat. Night Flappers.
Well…not good.
Too obvious?
Uh, yeah, but accurate, ted…
United Flight 1042 now boarding for Pittsburgh…
Yep. We are two out from having that game in our yard (Bucs own the tie-breaker).
So irritating watching these hackers tonight. Pence Belt…no clue.
Blah.
Well – after the 3rd inning, that one settled into a nice, tense pitching duel. Good game.
That fucking game sucked blue harry dodger balls….fuck the bums. Don’t take it personally Rooster, but i hate your fucking team.
I don’t, chi – I know where you’re coming from.
I am sure last night’s game had a similar effect on you Rooster. Well, if you are a bum fan the way the guys here are Giants fans, then it would…
I was flat-out disgusted by the Dodgers ineptness at the plate in extras – Giants were knocking at the door over and over – it was inevitable that they’d kick that F’ing door down eventually.
Tense, yeah.
Nice, not so much…
It was Rooster, after the 1st Bumgarner settled in, Grienke cruising until Snots took him deep.
Just a good hard battle of 2 playoff teams!
Key to me was Donny 2 step starting Turner, and not because of those 2 jacks, which of course we’re killers, but I think he couldn’t stomach how lack of effort Gordon gave him last night.
I wouldn’t call it lack of effort – no doubt, Gordon had a bad game, but I’ve seen him make those plays more often then not – just a bad game – he’s been key to their success this season.
Morse likely out for the season now, too.
I don’t know why they couldn’t wait a few more days to have him take a game AB this week, not in Diego. That basically toasted his oblique the rest of the season, and maybe was his last AB as a Giant. Having Perez or Dominguez out there is just brutal. I’d put Ishi out there in LF, I don’t care if he’s lefty vs. lefty tomorrow night. Or yeah, Brown. Bochy hates the thought of Brown so much he’ll probably start his ass against Kershaw. It’s so bad I’m actually begging for Bochy to play Ishi. Unbelievable…
I go to 100 on a suck meter that tops out at 25. And I swallow to boot…
Great. Quote a character that is intentionally a moron played by Christopher Guest. Any Gump or Raymond Babbitt quotes to prove how intelligent you are?
Nigel Tufnel appears to be sharper than most of my orifices
My goodness, your mama must be proud…
Belt pence and Pablo can’t hit at all. Panik and Buster the only ones. Re Morse..The Giant medical staff makes mistake after mistake. Years worth. Puzzles me as a sports medine physical therappist that we have the same trainers for since Conte left. STUPID. No other team lets a player swing in BP let alone a game until an oblique is 100 %
Thank you. That oblique injury was not even 3 weeks in, and he was swinging in BP, and sore after. Yet they still let him get out there and let it rip in a game AB on Saturday. Oh, well, on to more Perez…
oxx…you are right acept for Posey. At least when you are stupid you are consistent Just the rest of that crew we might agree with you for the 1st time..
Bumgarner sure is phenomenal hitting those home runs, and I must say, Puig is a dirtbag…
Why do the editors invariably misspell misspell “Bubblegamer?”
Whoa, Kruk and Kuip post game kinda hammerin’ the Giants for crappy efforts at the plate…
Here’s my LU for tomorrow:
CF Brown
2B Panik
1B Posey
C Susac
LF Ishi
3B Duffy
RF Blanco
SS Craw
P Lincecum
They either get no hit, or win. Nothing in between…
I’m ok with it Snarkk!
Problem is Bochy will never pull Pence with his iron man status streak, the most in baseball. Yeah he sucks along with Fatso this month( both are killing us down the stretch)but the skipper plays his vets till they drop like Pagan and Morse.I Might personally punish Tubby by starting him behind the dish, with Posey at 1st and Susac at 3rd or vice- versa!
That ironman thing is worthless. Nobody cares. Pence is 3 for the month, basically. Time to sit. Panda hitting about .190 for the month. Time to sit…
Bochy is old-school, he’s not going to be the one to break Pence’s streak.
Probably just sour grapes on my part to suggest it’s suspicious that Turner came to the Dodgers and is now hitting 70 points above his career average. Just a coincidence so many players having resurgences on the Dodgers, or they’re the most ‘roided up team since the A’s of the late ’80s.
That second homer he hit a low curve, golfed the sucker almost with just one arm and a very smooth swing, didn’t swing hard at all…
The funny thing is, if the Giants win the last game of the series, they can have a champagne party for making the playoffs, right at Dodger Stadium. Or if the Giants lose, and Milwaukee loses, the Giants can have the champagne party anyway, while the Dodgers are having their own champagne party. Only in baseball could something so ridiculous happen.
I’ve said it before, this champagne thing for anything short of the pennant and the WS is bogus. If anybody had a reason to hoist some champagne, it was Haren last night — he pitched enough innings to vest his $10M option for next year…
Just got back to my hotel room and saw the results. Only good news here is knowing that Phlabby (10:14pm post) swallows when he services other Dodger fans in the rest rooms between innings.
Go Giants!
SF, though, can be proud of its efforts:
