A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

A Perfect Fall Weekend

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 4, 2014

Yesterday was just a very satisfying day of baseball, don’t you think?

After becoming the first pitcher in the history of baseball to give up 7 or more runs in consecutive post season appearances, my buddy said to me, “He’s becoming the ‘Peyton Manning’ of baseball.” I said, “Not so fast, he still hasn’t won anything yet. At least Peyton has one ring.”

Today’s game is important but not critical. I expect the Nats to be playing with an even tighter grip today, knowing they don’t want to go down 0-2 and have to fly across the country to face Big Country in an elimination game….

What a fantastic weekend of Bay Area sports we have to look forward to. The Cardinal play one of my all time hated college teams today (2nd only to USC), Cal travels to WAZU to a loss (try to keep the opposition under 3 digits Cal defense), obviously we have the Giants game, and tomorrow Alex Smith and Loo’s Chiefs come in to take on my Niners. Throw in a full day of fanduel.com tomorrow and it’s quite likely I’ll need a new couch on Monday……

Two trips strikes again. Even as great as Kershaw is…any other manager let a starter give up that many hits in the 7th? 5 hits BEFORE the bases clearing double. Love it. Wonder how his bullpen feels?
OC register story outlines how 1st thing Mattingly discussed post game is his willingness to use closer Jepsen for 4 out saves, “maybe more outs if needed”. No faith in Wilson et al….

it just shows you that he’s a stooge. Kershaw makes the decisions, not 2-Trips.

I was thinking more like Kershaw = Dan Marino.

Unlike some of you guys I don’t really watch baseball outside of the Giants. Seeing these other teams play these last couple of days makes me appreciate Bochy that much more. I may not always agree with his moves but he doesn’t leave his pitchers out to dry out there. When I see these boneheaded moves from other managers it makes me think he’s the X factor more than anything else.

I’m excited for today’s game. Hopefully Hudson can keep it rolling. There’s still a long way to go and it’s not good to look ahead but the Royals have that look man. I wouldn’t want to run into them in this post season.

    • wswins's avatar wswins said, on October 4, 2014 at 9:58 am

If you’re saying the Royals make it to the WS…I hope we do run into them.

Yesterday was one of those rare playoff occasions where every team i favored happened to win. Today, i’m merely hoping my #1 team pulls off another one, so that down by two, the Nats get to face the Undertaker on Monday.

Estatic to see my team this deep into the post season with all they had against them. This season has been the opposite of what the Oaklanders’ season has been. Seemingly unbeatable with a GM pulling big moves -v- seemingly impotent gmen on the field with typical no-name moves by the GM.

    Playoffs Baby!
    Go Gigantes!

Nobody handles a pitching staff in baseball better then “Our Man Bruce”That’s about the only thing baseball analyst agree on about this team.
He is thinking 2-3 innings ahead at times with match ups, lefties vs lefties, righties vs righties, lefties vs righties, righties vs lefties, what guy will be coming up to PH and does my guy do well against him in the past ?or do I go against the odds and play a hunch.Either way “Our man
Bruce”always outmanages any other manager by far. The post seasons past and present have proved all that as he put the likes of Atlanta’s Bobby Cox in his house, into retirement,as he out managed him, same with both total “Beatdowns” of both Ron Washington & Jim Leyland in W/S Blowouts!!!
“BOCHTOBER BASEBALL” Feel the Power and execution of a team ready to Rock another W/S ring, and Bochy will wear this one on his fat middle finger displaying it to the usual media skeptics who always diss the Giants!!

When rain does finally return to the Central Valley, it’s going to be a transcendent moment, like Scutaro at the end of the ’12 series against the Cardinals. Equally important Willie – if the Giants win this game (or even if they lose this game, but win the series), I suspect the media will point to Williams and Cabrera losing their cool and getting tossed as the underlying reason why the Nats are not ready for prime time. Conversely, the Giants just go about their business.

If Bochy would have hit Susac instead of Duffy in the 9th he would have in the game and then he could have run for Posey…anyway…hindsight is always 20/20

    • willedav's avatar willedav said, on October 4, 2014 at 6:48 pm

I didn’t misread what you said. I can understand if Zim gave up a lead off hit, but not with 2 out and only runner on first. If Williams made up his mind to do that, he was wrong.

      • wswins's avatar wswins said, on October 4, 2014 at 7:48 pm

I’m not Williams, and I didn’t say I agreed with him…I just offered an explanation why…maybe he figured if Panik can turn on it, so could Posey, Maybe he didn’t want him to pitch that great and lose it on one swing.
