A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

And it Comes to This……

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on October 29, 2014

Well, whoever wins tonight can say they genuinely earned it. Nobody plays 6 weeks of spring training, 6 months of baseball plus nearly a month of playoff ball to find out they “lucked” into the crown.

This will be the 38th Game 7 in World Series history (I counted that myself so it could be off by one or two). It’s the second Game 7 since 2002 and I have blocked out that game from my memory bank.

Truly, I’m not really sweatin’ this game. I think we will win. You know who also isn’t sweatin’ it? These guys…..

theseguys

Lost in all the drama approaching tonight is this sad fact: no matter what, this is the final baseball game of the year and that bums me out a little bit. Here’s to a great season FU—-whatever happens, happens.

Four years ago, nearly to the day, twin posted this:

twinpost

and even with one win still yet unsecured I feel the same way about the guys on this team. I’ll never forget this team….

2-0 is huge. Allows Bochy to monitor HUddy carefully and still get him out of there if we have a lead…..

This is a hell of a lot better than getting down 2-0. We score, we win!

I find it ridiculous that they are talking about pulling Guthrie this early. Outside of their big 3, their pen has showed us nothing.

Let’s turn the table and drop 10 on these bastards!!

  10. stickman's avatar stickman said, on October 29, 2014 at 5:43 pm

Just what i called for earlier today, the death of a thousand cuts offense vs Guthrie. Those singles, hit batsman and sac flies tend to add up. Guthrie has pretty much been throwing strikes so his pitch count is nots particularly high. But obviously he was hittable in the second. Team needs to maintain that approach. Dink him.

    • Alleykat's avatar Alleykat said, on October 29, 2014 at 6:00 pm

      Agree Lurker,
7th game W/S you have to play” balls out” on every play and anticipate every situation.
Like even Belt, why try and cut the ball off on Blanco with a lame duck wounded Perez on 1st who’s not going anywhere, probably not gonna get Gordon but who knows?

  25. gianthead's avatar gianthead said, on October 29, 2014 at 5:56 pm

Nice move Bochy but we need at least an inning FROM affeldt to get past Hosmer. Then Timmy is in. I feel badly for Hudson but they got lucky Infante did not do more damage. Hudson should have kept pounding outside and he could not locate. Let’s go Affeldt….

  26. wilcojoe's avatar wilcojoe said, on October 29, 2014 at 5:58 pm

Hudson and Peavy do serve a purpose during the season as inning eaters. Let’s go and drive in a couple more runs off Guthrie…

You guys calling for a quick hook, you got it. Early returns on that philosophy were good, but we’re gonna be white-knuckling these next few innings.

    • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on October 29, 2014 at 6:05 pm

SanDawg, I think we’re on the same page, but don’t you agree with that philosophy in the playoffs, especially in a game 7 situation? There is no next week or month. They have to play for the win today.

  31. pawliekokonuts's avatar pawliekokonuts said, on October 29, 2014 at 6:01 pm

  32. pawliekokonuts's avatar pawliekokonuts said, on October 29, 2014 at 6:02 pm

  35. pawliekokonuts's avatar pawliekokonuts said, on October 29, 2014 at 6:06 pm

Um, that was a time to exert some pressure, not let Guthrie get better. Oh well. Very important for Affeldt to pitch the same sort of shutdown inning. Obviously.

  36. Alleykat's avatar Alleykat said, on October 29, 2014 at 6:06 pm

    Yeah GH,
But unfortunately this postseason both have had their innings eaten alive..

  37. gianthead's avatar gianthead said, on October 29, 2014 at 6:06 pm

Anyone think Hudson’s pitch to Perez was intentional with first base open???

    • Lurker John's avatar Lurker John said, on October 29, 2014 at 6:07 pm

no. he couldn’t afford any baserunners

      • gianthead's avatar gianthead said, on October 29, 2014 at 6:15 pm

I don’t know…If you are going to hit Perez, that is when you do it with first base open and no one expecting it. And if that leg stiffens up, changes the game tremendously. Of course we need base runners to challenge Perez’ leg…
