A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Baseball Musings

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on April 27, 2015

Just a couple of post-rain out thoughts before we play the Art Dealers again:

The Nats, who everyone predicted would win the NL pennant, have a worse record than we do. That’s hard to do. Matt Williams never caught on for me as a manager. I didn’t get that MOY thing. He always seemed like more of a guy to just keep the boat afloat—not a guy to sail you to the promised land. And now they come out of the gate 7-12? With that roster?

The Cardinals losing Waino is a big deal but they lost him in 2011 and still won the World Series so…..

Sherzer is spouting off about the NL needing to go to the DH. “Would you rather see me or Big Papi hit?” That’s a dude that doesn’t really get the game. I don’t know too many NL fans who want to see the DH come to the NL. Doesn’t that say a lot?

The Houston Astros and New York Mets are leading their divisions.

That is all.

I was at the game (no more then 75 feet behind home plate) when Randy Johnson was swinging the bat and injured himself. I think he pulled his left nut or somethin’ . . .

  2. eddacker's avatar eddacker said, on April 27, 2015 at 6:57 am

I thought RJ had 3 nuts – you will need to be more specific than ‘left’

  3. eddacker's avatar eddacker said, on April 27, 2015 at 6:59 am

I had been entertaining the thought that with the Mets, Astros and Sherpas leading the tables ‘it must be early in the season.’

P.S. the DH sucks, is not for me, keep the senior league DH free, viva strategy.

Thanks blade! Yea regarding pitchers, we all remember Casilla going down in colo trying to leg out a grounder. . .

But yeah, it’s Rae to see pitchers getting hurt batting. No reason to change ghat shit.

De nada Unca . . . Hey, I understand you and some friends are going to be at the Angels/Gmen game . . . Make sure you stop on by where we are sitting and/or see us before the game at the Public House . . . Beercan misses us. πŸ™‚

Nice to read about how vividly Paul recalls his first baseball game with his Dad and watching playoffs with him.
Sorry for your loss, Paul, but memories like that will stay with all of us.

Funny thing about LA is that while everyone expected their offense to suffer by losing Kemp and Hanley (both of whom are raking for new teams too), they are 2nd in the league for runs scored. Even with Puig out, Ethier has stepped in nicely, AGon leads league in runs scored rbis and HRs, and the Guerrero kid has 5 bombs already.
Ethier, with a chance to showcase value, has responded nicely. If LA does wind up dumping him off given their surfeit of OFs in a deal for relief help, he could bring decent haul…certainly better than Crawford and they might not have to dump off as much salary.

Dodgers injuries to Ryu and Jansen (plus Puig now) also very significant. I’m sure they feel same way Giants do, that once they get healthy things will be different.

This article is from Friday and provides the latest (that I have seen, anyway) on Pence, Cainer, and Peavy.

For the Flappers attending Saturday’s game…looks like we will see Hudson on the bump.

Timmy vs. Anderson tonight. MadBum vs. Opie, Part Duex tomorrow, and Vogey vs. Grienke in the finale on Wednesday. Heston will pitch the opener of the Giant-anghole series.

BEAT LA – BEAT LA – BEAT LA!

I thought this a good read from CSNBA. Sorry if this has been shared already. I could see a platoon in the OF coming from a mile away, given the way Maxwell’s Silver Hammer has been coming down upon some heads. Once again, the Giants with multiple guys who can play multiple positions is giving Bochy some great line-up flexibility.

I just looked at Loo’s GAME CALLED clip from yesterday. It is a stunning gem, of simplicity, images, words, feelings. I love it. Thank you. Whose poem is it?? And is that really you, Loo, at 0:37, as a batboy? Wow. I enjoyed that clip a lot.

    • djloo27's avatar djloo27 said, on April 27, 2015 at 3:38 pm

It was written by Grantland Rice, Pawlie. Apparently there are 2 versions:

I’m sure the youtube clip is from the HBO series that aired some years ago called “When It Was A Game”.
