The starting pitcher for the Marlins is from the same Houston suburb of yours truly. One of the girls that used to babysit our kids dated Jared in high school.
Flavor, regarding Lincecum (posted this on the other thread and didn’t know you started a new one).
Until he shows sustained high performance, HE IS DONE. What I also said is that Timmy will win certain match ups, i.e., tonight he has ball park factors in his favor and a (supposedly) weak line up. By the by, he also couldn’t keep the ball in the park for the last three years. This year, only one of his 24 fly balls have left the park. All in all, he isn’t a bad choice for a tourney, but I wouldn’t touch him with a 20 foot pole for a cash game.
Flav, I haven’t been playing the last few nights. Had a personal emergency at home (SF bay area). Things are fine now.
ok. I still don’t understand the *sustained performance* he is DONE thing. He’s a #4/#5 you need those guys on your staff. Are you saying all those up and down guys across the league are DONE? Cause that makes no sense to me. And Timmy has probably been the most reliable guy so far this year on the staff.
Glad to hear things are ok after the “emergency.” That word sucks.
I had some chick get pissed off at me today because I pronounced his name McGAY-hee. That’s how you pronounce it, right? She’s a lesbian and we got into it a little bit over this issue. Seriously want your opinions on this…….
lol, that’s rad. I really want others to chime in because I have been holding off re-kindling this debate via text until I’m sure. And I’m 4 beers into the night so text trigger finger is flickering and ready to go….
Oh my god. Was totally expecting to see the bases cleared in a whole different way ~ with the inning over. Then this. Maybe those few games on the bench were the cure. Could be his knee is feeling real good right about now.
I was with you, gloomy about the chances of ANYTHING that was not a DP. This? Not in my imagination. But I fear it could still mess with his head. Can’t pull everything (now you’ll tell me he hit it to opposite field; not watching the game).
i keep going back to the 177 hit thing. That shit doesn’t happen by accident. And as you know, he’s a lifelong Giants fan. Can you imagine how it would feel to hit a grand slam for the Giants? Can any of us comprehend how insanely rad that would be?
I agree. Many of us were happy with him coming here. His family (wife) is stoked I bet. One of his children has cerebral palsy (I think that’s the disease. I know it is serious). This really helps all of them out.
We’ve all heard that some say that a HR is a rally killer. Jim Kaat once said that a Grand Slam was a rally killer. I’ll take that kind of rally killing
Good to see ya, Twin. Quick linguistic point: “Rally” used to mean to come from behind. You had to be behind in order to stage a rally. Now, announcers and writers have a broader meaning: any cluster of runs. Am I wrong on this?
My big question is the Geepster. I think the defense should be fine. They assembled a good coaching staff. Thomas, Iupati’s replacement is a much better pass blocker, so I’m hoping they go a little quicker paced.
Listen up…I’m digressing to bask in our championships. I recorded and kept on the DVR the end of the 3 championships. Games ended perfectly so they were all on a 30 min show after the full game so i’ve had 90 min of DVR storage in HD vs 12 hours or so. We are changing providers so the recordings gone after Tuesday.
I just saw Timmy become only the 5th pitcher ever to have 10 K’s in a clinching game, Wilson K the Boom Stick, Scoots drive in Therieo(sic), and Romo freeze Miggy, followed by Perez’ HUGE sigh of relief that the runner didn’t score, a pop up, and Mad Bum and Posey in a crazy looking hug.
Flav, depending on how slow your Friday night is, I’d go all in with the McGAY-hee angle followed by something about how that fruitcake sure crushed that dong to center. Good luck.
To be honest I don’t see any insulting undertones here. I heard it pronounced that way when the deal was first announced and had been defaulting to the McDP and McGehehe that we glossed him with here.
Hahaha. Yep, it would seem that way. Duffy was asked about Casey’s situation the other day and he was very supportive, so I think he is also happy for him.
Actually chuckled this time at the McGDP. Never thought that would happen either. Timmy getting Stanton was huuuge. Every Giants fan had to be thinking ~ oops ~ tie game. High pitch count for #55, though at 97 through five. If he can escape the 6th he should earn some relax time.
Told you guys a few days ago to leave Belt’s ass alone, let him play.
He’s now 4 for 5 tonight with 2 runs scored, and is 12 for his last 22.
He’d have 4 or 5 HRs by now if he were hitting in any other park.
If Bochy would stop screwing with him, and just let him play, he’d be fine…
Great start by Timmy!
MLB TV stat. Most starts in MLB since 2006 with 7 IP and 1 run or less
Felix hernandez 101
Hamels 75
Wainright 70
Kershaw 70
Lineceum 69…almost got 70 tonight.
I know he is a shell of his former great self, but he lead us tour 1st championship, and will always be one of my favorite players
McDP does roll with the punches though. When Amy was interviewing him after the game about his Big hit(Grand Slam) he did mention his DP total climbing, just in case any fans forgot.
Maybe the key was Flav calling it (blade and snarkk too) and then starting a game time thread.
whatev, I was at b-ball practice and only caught some of this on radio, but stranger things have happened lately.
“After yet another disappointing loss to Texas and with his team mired in last place, GM and part owner Billy Beane traded himself to Brewers for a PTBNL—plumber to be named later.”
Cool to see RiverCat LU up there. No O-O-O? What to you do with Duvall? Is he anything more than a trade chip or can he help the Giants?
For that matter, what happens when Pence and Ishi are healthy enough to rejoin SF? Hector is a casualty for sure I’d imagine, but who else?
All the bad vibes from Marlins brought the Cousins-Posey play to mind so I looked up some stuff and found column on Around the Foghorn Giants blog in which Posey said he’d rather NOT play more 1b. Said he’s really into C and wants to continue to do more of it while talking about how he has improved conditioning and hydration during off season to be better prepared physically.
TL so far off to great start with more good outings than bad and all props to Flav for touting him. But, if Sabes goes SP hunting after this season (or before) I hope he can get better than a 4/5 guy for $17 mil a year. That’s Greinke money, and guys of his caliber will be available.
Yes, Zum I’m still not an Aoki guy (lol).
He’s 4 for his last 25 with 0 (yes, zero) walks and an OB of .192.
11 for his 47 with 2 walks and OB of .280.
OB is still good for the season .360 but OPS has slid to .716; in other words very Blanco like just like last season numbers he put up in KC.
If I heard right last night he swung at first pitch couple times while grounding out.
I still hope by time Pence gets back Bochy slides Pagan back into leadoff and lets Max play more of LF. Pagan can get on and steal a bag and hopefully Max can drive in runs from lower in the order when he gets chance and add some more pop.
Giants are now 6th best in NL for ERA, tho still 14th in runs scored. Dodgers lead league in about every offensive category, runs OB slugging and have 47 HRs last time I looked.
I thought the Dodgers’ offense would take a step back this season, but I wasn’t expecting Pederson to have such an impact, plus their bench has been off the charts again. Turner, Van Slyke, and Guerrero give outrageous contributions for bench guys. Rollins has been a black hole at shortstop, and some of the other starters have cooled off after a fast start, but they have enough to keep beating up on bad teams.
Likely the Dodgers win the division, and the Giants will need to get in via Wild Card. The Stepford robotic Cardinals look to cruise into the playoffs. I don’t expect the Mets to maintain; it looks like Washington eventually will eventually lead the division, after a very slow start. The other Wild Card could be Padres or Cubs. Maybe the Mets hang around (but I doubt it.) All the other Wild Card contenders seem a notch or two lower in overall quality.
Pence/Ishi/Duvall/Parker is a pretty good “meat” of the order.
hey Twinner. Great to see you. And i agree. At least for AAA. But I’m looking forward to Ishi coming up with Pence. Need those dudes back.
“Matt Cain, the team’s player rep, presented Casey McGehee with his Comeback Player of the Year Award.”
If McDP can ever get his act together, maybe he’ll become the first repeat Comeback winner.
The starting pitcher for the Marlins is from the same Houston suburb of yours truly. One of the girls that used to babysit our kids dated Jared in high school.
Fun Fact!
Is Lincecum doing the CJ WIlson thing with a headband under his hat? I don’t like it.
“On his first game swing since left forearm fracture, Pence drives in a run with sacrifice fly to medium RF.”
Flavor, regarding Lincecum (posted this on the other thread and didn’t know you started a new one).

You’re right, wrong verbiage or intent. “Done” meaning his former CY Young type seasons. As a 4 or 5, he is outstanding. Clear?
I don’t care if he has a pink glittering jockstrap and nylons on…
For a second there, I thought Kuip had finally figured out how to pronounce Morse’s name, but I wrong–he still hasn’t.
I had some chick get pissed off at me today because I pronounced his name McGAY-hee. That’s how you pronounce it, right? She’s a lesbian and we got into it a little bit over this issue. Seriously want your opinions on this…….
I’m with the lesbian on this one. I thought it was gee not gay.
lol, that’s rad. I really want others to chime in because I have been holding off re-kindling this debate via text until I’m sure. And I’m 4 beers into the night so text trigger finger is flickering and ready to go….
It;s pronounced just like McGee.
I thought it was gay too, but Miller and Flem say Gee.
.
McGrandSlam!
WTF?????????????????????? Go Casey!
Mrs. James and I are in the house – she called it!
good news is that there’s no reason to rush to plasticizing the inside of the dwelling……
True enuff, and Timmeh is getting roped, yet has a 4-0 lead.
time for your boy Petit? What’s his ERA again? I can’t remember….
May Tim’s good fortune continue.
that’s hilarious. What’s this going to do to my debate with the lesbian?
OMGiggles
Oh my god. Was totally expecting to see the bases cleared in a whole different way ~ with the inning over. Then this. Maybe those few games on the bench were the cure. Could be his knee is feeling real good right about now.

It went out left-center, closer to CF.
Feel happy for him. Dude is a good guy. I can’t even imagine how this is going to make him feel.
i keep going back to the 177 hit thing. That shit doesn’t happen by accident. And as you know, he’s a lifelong Giants fan. Can you imagine how it would feel to hit a grand slam for the Giants? Can any of us comprehend how insanely rad that would be?

Pronounce that hit as *gay* but not in a gender-identification way.
That swing was effortless too. Almost the deepest part of the park.
You’re always right in my book
Two pickups this year contributing big time this evening.
ofcourse i turn the game on 30 seconds after the granny.
Hey twinn, good to see you or type you or whatever this is . . .
I don’t know if it’s good or bad but it seems that the Niners have gotten a lot bigger this year. And Tomsula should be a fine warden.
My big question is the Geepster. I think the defense should be fine. They assembled a good coaching staff. Thomas, Iupati’s replacement is a much better pass blocker, so I’m hoping they go a little quicker paced.

3 in 5 still feels awesome!!!
Flav, depending on how slow your Friday night is, I’d go all in with the McGAY-hee angle followed by something about how that fruitcake sure crushed that dong to center. Good luck.
it’s slow, there’s no doubt. I work with her. I’ll let you know how this goes…..
To be honest I don’t see any insulting undertones here. I heard it pronounced that way when the deal was first announced and had been defaulting to the McDP and McGehehe that we glossed him with here.
according to baseball ref its just 2 syllables, Mc-Gee
What’s it mean in Gaylic errr Gaelic?
Hit a Grand Slam, play for a month. Duffy just got screwed
Hahaha. Yep, it would seem that way. Duffy was asked about Casey’s situation the other day and he was very supportive, so I think he is also happy for him.
TimTim needs to get an out.
Ohhhh boy . . .
Stanton? Oh jeeze….
YES!
Wooooo. TiimTim!!! 8 k’s!!!! Got to say, for a 5 he;s lights out,
Great recovery by Lincecum there. Nice.
Timmy’s back! 🙂
CAME UP BIG!
Timmy can keep the new ‘do’
Maxwell done!
El Scorcho!
Wow. Granny, base hit and 2 DPs for Mcgaydeepee.
just got in and all my goodness can this be the start of something good do I dare wish?
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves now.
Told you guys a few days ago to leave Belt’s ass alone, let him play.

Yeah, but he just struck out with the bases loaded. 😉
If he’d gotten a hit, he would have been accused of padding his stats.
Timmeh!
Lowered his ERA again — we called it, BF…
Gut the Fish! Back to .500.
Friggin’ McDP. The guy hits a grand salami and is still a DP machine…
Great start by Timmy!
MLB TV stat. Most starts in MLB since 2006 with 7 IP and 1 run or less
