Loo: Hadn’t read your insert yet when i posted. High Larry Us congruence. When one Giant edges the other for MVP in the game you KNOW that SF had a significant presence.
Mattingly showed a little humility during an interview earlier today. Said the best part of the ASG for him was being part of the entire Giants coaching staff. Hoped he could learn a thing or two.
Way too premature. That’s my issue. I understand expansion franchises like the Rays and Marlins having active players but the NY/SF Giants? That’s a slap in the face to the greats that came before him.
I just flipped on the tv so I’m not sure what they’re doing, but why are they trotting out all these old Reds? This is an all star game, who (outside of Cincinnati) gives a rip about all these old Reds players?
Hey Zum, find us some nuggets from those Dodger blogs. Are they apologizing to us yet for Kershaw blowing our home field advantage in the World Series?
Sciambi and Singleton, on ESPN Radio, giving major props to SF Giants organization: home-grown infield, excellent pitchers drafted, etc. They said the default is typically to talk about the Cardinals, but what about the Giants, they said. Showing us some respect!
Lorenzo Cain was just interviewed on the radio side. Sounded gracious, humble, excited. He used to bat cross-handed. Grateful to be there. I liked his personality and demeanor.
Explosive gas from DeGrom, dude’s got plenty of giddy-up on his heater, then for the hell of it mixes in a nasty slider..
Alright McCutchen , blast that bomb to cut it to run!!
when the ads are as interesting as some of the innings I guess we’re into super bowl territory. The Chevy truk ads touting steel vs. aluminum are clearly a desperation driven defense to MadBum’s Ford truck ads. bfd.
At the Giants game the other day, I saw a real cool photo of six legendary Giants who were given rings at the ring ceremony earlier this season. I took a photo of the photo. It has a little glare from the glass covering the original photo. I don’t know how to post photos in these threads, so I posted it at the top of this thread. It’s real cool the Giants brought those guys together for the event.
Yeah I have that same picture on my phone Zumie, it’s awesome!
Had the World Series trophys once on another phone that took a shit and couldn’t save it and then the trophys weren’t at the park last time I was their, bummer๐ข
I was a little disappointed Chevy didn’t have the Chris Farley World Series guy get a second chance to redeem himself last night during the trophy presentation.
A good article on the defending champs below. Some noncontroversial statements that I enjoyed;
“Although he plays in by far the worst home park in the majors for home runs, Beltโs .203 Isolated Power ranks fifth among National League first basemen over the past two seasons.2 Combine that pop with a still-strong .352 OBP and the third-best defense in the majors at his position,3 and the 27-year-old ranks among the best all-around first basemen in the league.”

A significant Giants presence in the ASG is usually a good sign for the NL.

While I’m no fan of the dogers I think it was a nice move by Bochy to give Greinke the start tonight. Early recruiting perhaps?

Pete Rose part of the FOX pregame show.
FOX playing Band of Horses, one of my favorite bands, as background music during their promos. Nice!
Missed that…I dig Band of Horses.
They misspelled Yastrzemski. Nice work…
Buster Posey part of the franchise four (including NY Giants)? What a joke.
I don’t get it … who is your #4?
Of course, I love Posey but it seems a bit premature to put him in that pantheon.
Way too premature. That’s my issue. I understand expansion franchises like the Rays and Marlins having active players but the NY/SF Giants? That’s a slap in the face to the greats that came before him.
In no particular order … Ott, Spahn, Hubbell, Marichal, Mathewson … are a few that come to my mind immediately.
screeech?
Thought I might sneak that by … should of put him in the middle or near the end …with Xoot on the case prob wouldn’t of helped. ๐
I just flipped on the tv so I’m not sure what they’re doing, but why are they trotting out all these old Reds? This is an all star game, who (outside of Cincinnati) gives a rip about all these old Reds players?
Trotting?
shuffling?
They announced the winners of the franchise four for each club and ended it with on field introductions for the Reds final four.
surprised Buster didn’t get booed even a little. I guess that grand salami has been wiped from their memory.
Koufax showed up? That’s a pretty rad 4-some
Seeing Koufax throw to Bench will be a memory of this year’s asg I keep.
Trout as a lead off center fielder is an awesome thought.
He wasnt throwing off the bump but damn he looked strong!
Well, he’s pitching on 49 years rest, Lisle…
all star gold, Loo
Oh WoW!?!? … I never thought of it that way! … makes perfect sense.
A little surprised Greinke is getting two innings after throwing a good amount in the first.
Donaldson is really good at throws like that one.
Where did they scrounge up these baseball caps at a thrift store? Their putrid..
They’re!!! Sorry! Gonna be another shitty work week and I’m missing this.
Hope I catch Panik and crawfish but I doubt it
I’m with you.
Leave it to a Dodger to fuck up,Their’s a reason you weren’t picked to the team Clayton.
So far all three runs on Dodger pitching as Bumgarner bends but does not break.
“Big Game” Kershaw again.
Hey Zum, find us some nuggets from those Dodger blogs. Are they apologizing to us yet for Kershaw blowing our home field advantage in the World Series?
Doesn’t Kershaw have issues in every ASG? Seems like we have seen this before.
Sciambi and Singleton, on ESPN Radio, giving major props to SF Giants organization: home-grown infield, excellent pitchers drafted, etc. They said the default is typically to talk about the Cardinals, but what about the Giants, they said. Showing us some respect!
That’s great. Recognition from ESPN…wow.
Lorenzo Cain was just interviewed on the radio side. Sounded gracious, humble, excited. He used to bat cross-handed. Grateful to be there. I liked his personality and demeanor.
Bochy left McCutcheon in. Genius.
Explosive gas from DeGrom, dude’s got plenty of giddy-up on his heater, then for the hell of it mixes in a nasty slider..
Alright McCutchen , blast that bomb to cut it to run!!
Love me some Cutch!
Obviously Britton doesn’t know where any of his throws are going..
Hmmm. Chris Singleton was drafted by the Giants. Again, talking up the organization, the ESPN Radio crew. #lovefest

Not the first night I wasted…
Pete Rose is shitfaced.
Lol WJ,
Yeah Pete being Pete, obnoxious and wasted. Frank Thomas you could tell wanted to clock him..
Some Dodger fans contemplate the All Star game:
I figured it out
The Dodger All Stars are lulling the rest of the league into a false sense of security.

weren’t all the NL runs last year
allowed by Cardinals?

Wainwright and Neshek if my memory is right.

So does this mean we are losing to the Giants in the NLCS?

So, this POS game’s outcome means the Giants start the WS on the road…
Been there, done that. Why not again…

Cool pic Zum. Now there is a franchise six pack.
Yeah I have that same picture on my phone Zumie, it’s awesome!

Yeah, “It’s got technology and stuff” was a classic line.
Mike Trout 1st player ever to win back to back MVP award.
Congrats considering the legends that have played in so many..
Okay…we have that out of the way. What a sad game. Let’s get back to some meaningful ball.

Thanks for sharing Dirt. Excellent article.
