Game Time Thread and the Offer of a Lifetime
A new bauble arrived via the pony at Casa de Flavor’s this afternoon.
Behold:
That’s right. An autographed Candy Maldonado. Behind it sits an unautographed giraffe that my daughter played with when she was young. Belt won’t be signing that unless he dines with me in an upcoming evening. Even then…..
To the particulars: The picture cost me $3.05. But shipping was $3.20. This additional fee has soiled the score so I’ve decided to re-list the item on a site more telling of it’s hidden value. Starting tomorrow, you can find this rare collectible listed at https://www.hugginsandscott.com/
I am told they do skillful work with the rarest of baseball finds.
List price will be $1,400. Relax, for you guys I’ll be offering a today in-game price of $1,375. That’s a $25 Flap discount, do not sneeze at that. This offer closes at games end. No exceptions or B/O’s will be considered. At least, at the time this thread went to print……
How did I come up with the list price? Allow me to disclose the true value. For starters, the edges of the photo are impeccable. You could literally slice Gouda with this. And the ink from the pen is so shiny my eyes almost burn if I look at it too long. There are unwritten reports that he once declared this his “best signature ever”. His (and my) biceps are positively peaking. And do I even have to note the classic “Candy smile” that we all secretly admired back in the day? Finally, who among us could ever forget Candy flying in from the right side of the tv screen to protect the good name of Will the Thrill?
One hundred dollars for each letter signed. That’s a sexy, smooth 14 hundo, baby. And I’ll throw in the freaking giraffe just so your significant other doesn’t raise her brow at you…….
So who’s in for the in-game deal of $1,375?
text: “buy it now” or “I gotta have that shit” to my cell……..
Leave questions in the comment section below if you have any but I can’t believe you aren’t working with enough info to buy this bad boy like 10 seconds ago…….

Unquestionably without the slightest doubt one of your most golden epic posts. #rimshotjob
repeated from prev thread:
1. I have no idea who Buzzsaw and Hill are? Boxers? Or some sort of extreme sport male Rounda Rousey or whoever she is? I thought Buzzsaw was Loo’s Shea Stadium pal. 2. I have never met or even heard of anyone named Kelby before. Is he on Duck Dynasty? Bring back Jo-Arias.
PK– Aubrey Hill is the bully who used to patrol the sandlots back in the 70’s in San Dawg’s hood. BuzzSaw is the goon who was Loo’s bodyguard back in the day at Met games.
I created a “who could kick who’s ass?” virtual beat down yesterday just because I was bored as fuck…..
then throw in Dennis Fluegel from my neighborhood — not that I’m still sore at him or anything
Who won the fight? I had my money on Aubrey (those wiry guys always seem to kick some serious ass).
Maybe Triples Alley Paranoia (TAP) has turned Belt into a strong opposite field hitter…
Maybe Triples Alley Paranoia (TAP) has turned Crawford into a strong opposite field hitter…
those were 2 of the most un-fun HR’s I’ve ever seen. Oppo field, both times the OF barely misses it. The first one bounces over the fence and the 2nd one, shit, I thought he had it for like 5 seconds after he hit the ground. lol
And now an un-fun double…
Why is the disabled list 15 days?
half of 30 dawg, everyone knows this shit.
You are on a roll tonight, Craig…
Thank goodness Gregor has been picked up. He needed a pick me up. Way to pick him up, Buster! I can’t believe K&K missed the pick me up story.
Buster sweet 16!
Think I may turn this shit off.
Any chance we could get a bomb where I just yell out “fuck yeah!” as soon as it’s hit? That’s how Barry used to do ’em
LOL
Four homeruns in one game? I can recall an entire month where that was the total.
No need to panic tonight anyway. SF’s new BBB-gun attack is hard at it: Buster, Brandon and Brandon(2). Who said it’s only hockey that has power plays? Jeeze, whodda thunk it after yesterday’s near shutout. Just goes to tell ya baseball is always coming up with new adventures in playtime. Way he’s going Crawdaddy should top 20 dingers nicely and Buster will boast more than a hundred rib-eyes once again. What’s Belt gonna do? Keep heating up in that Southern fried climate reminding him of Nacogdoces.
Doesn’t appear that Matt the Horse is likely to get Cained tonight. The pride of Dothan, Alabama is another one of those Southern boys who seems to thrive in the heat ~ so far, so good, anyway. Be nice if he can settle into a nice steady dose of what he has shown us back in the day a bit.
We’re halfway through the game, we got a nice lead, why not give the new kid (Tomlinson) a chance to get some swings in at 2nd base … He can’t do any worse than Airhead 000 can he? New Kid was hitting over .300 in Sac with an ops over .800 … just a thought …
“airhead” lol
Agree. Adrianza is a big zero.

File this away, just in case: the last pitcher to allow five HRs to the Giants in game was the Reds’ Bill Gullickson in 1987.
I gotta have that shit, Flav! NOT. That is some funny shit my man. One of the more funny FLAP threads ever, IMO. Pure platinum.
It sure as hell is good to see Cain back on the hill (well, at least when he is pitching well). 😉
Fuckin Airhead 000 …
I am with you, Lisle…bring in the kid…it is time he got his cup of joe…
Another nice yard for the Giants hitters.
Somehow the Tomahawk Chop survives. It’s been a fuckin’ quarter of a century.
And still the Redskins seem to take all the heat from Native Americans…
isn’t that the shit? Crazy.
Cainer running out of gas. Not a huge surprise.
I was about to post this:
“Contra Stix, Cain’s shut out is more unfun than those HRs.”
Then I saw Chi’s post, and thought, nah, I’ll skip it.
😉
Candy Maldonado and that ’87 season is quite a story. Pretty intense.
Johnny Gomes looks like he filled Vacaville’s Aubrey Hill role for a time.
Whatever I said about Cain…scratch that shit…
Kontos just doesn’t look like he has the stuff to continue on his roll for a lot longer.
I think he has logged more innings in relief than any one in MLB … If I’m wrong, I’m not far off.
Could be. I will be very happy if his ERA is still near 1.62 with 0.860 WHIP by the end of September.
Well, we can’t have a Giants game with out a modicum of torture … tonight’s is courtesy of Mr. Cain.
In retrospect, Airhead’s DP in the top of the inning contributed just a tad . . . .
According to the crawl on the Braves feed, some college player was arrested for resisting arrest…
For chrissakes, it might take another Craw bomb to win this one.
0-2 fastball, right down the middle. That just can’t happen.
Anyone from here live out there or has visited Atlanta’s stadium? Wondering WTF is wrong with this one – which is fairly new – for them to build another stadium? Who’s paying for it? My guess is the taxpayers of Atlanta.
The new one will be in the suburbs. White flight.
Technically, this one was left over from the Atlanta Olympics. It’s still good, though.
I was there a number of years ago…seemed like a decent enough place…
Me too … about twenty years … I seem to remember a statue of Hamerin Hank at the main entrance.
I was there for the Braves-Giants series during a business trip last year. You would never guess the stadium was less than twenty years old. The paint was chipping off concourse walls, the seats had faded color, it was a mess. It was built for the Olympics right before the first of the new era parks were built (Camden, Coors, etc..). It also is in a bad part of down. Just on the other side of the tracks from downtown. There is absolutely nothing around it but freeways. No bars, restaurants, or any of things that make AT&T (and others) so great. Revitalization obviously never came about in this hood of the ATL.
OK, that explains it . . . Thanks for the detailed answer.
Much like Houston, the downtown of Atlanta itself is quite boring. Weekdays its all business, but on the weekends it’s a dead zone. However once you get to the midtown and uptown areas (Buckhead) you start to see more restaurants, pubs, music venues and other public areas that are much more inviting.
Krukow tells the Affeldt scud story for the 100th time.
Someone needs to tell Krukow that Doubleday had nothing to do with the inventing of baseball.
Krukowspeak . . . Never let the truth interfere with a good story.
Casilla’s usual crappy job.
FUCCCCK!
well, this AJ development is going to have some serious implications on the in-game Candy discount. Stay tuned…..
Of all the fucking people to hit one…
The predictability of unpredictability …
Anybody ever notice that nine times out of ten … After a Bags visit to the mound something bad happens? Or is that just me and my negativity?
Fuck! Have i been o the record before about how much i still hate that asshole AJ P…
One trade wasn’t nearly enough for this bunch.
When Johnson singled i got that bad feeling that AJ was gonna do what he did. Damned precognition doesn’t always work on Giants heroics.
Epic chokage by Casilla. 2 outs, bases empty…wow.
We’re fortunate that it is tied. All is forgiven if they pull this one out.
“His power is down around his knees”
Uhh . . . Whatever ya say Kruk.
that is the most awesome thing I’ve seen in a while……
At 5:06 Just getting in my ride after work crawdaddy jacks one to make it 6-0. Figure wtf I’m pissed I missed the onslaught, so I go grocery shopping, come out, turn on the radio and hear my all time fucking prick of human existence AJ Jerkoff hitting one out off of Casilla to tie it at 7-7. Should of just went to the Hanky Panky Club and got spanked😁
Base hit for the kid in extras, ya gotta love it.
I read some random tweet earlier today about Tomlinson being in a hotel room in Utah and getting the call from Evans and he hangs up on his wife to take the Evans call. Didn’t think a moment about it again. Then I see his wife and dad in the nosebleeds and he’s at bat, he gets a hit. Crazy. Think about all the shit that went down in the last 6 hours or so to make that moment happen for those folks. And the 2 decades that came before it. Awesome.
Yup, one crazy ass day for Tomlinson and the Fam.
That’s going to leave a mark. Hope the White Shark doesn’t go down.
just so fucking rad.
and the best part about all of this is those 2 are still sitting in the seats they bought, lol. There were like 15k at THE START of the game. his wife and dad are still up there in the nosebleeds rocking it.
I can’t get over how awesome that is.
His dad is awesome, dude looks like he could handle himself in a brawl.
YES!
As Mel Allen use to say “How about that”
The Kid with his 1st big knock in his 1st big league AB hitting a thousand and scoring the lead run in hopefully a Giants victory!
Way to go Kelby “Clark Kent glasses” Tomilnson!!!!
Kat: Had the same thought. Kelby snapping a base-hit in his first at bat in The Show. That and scoring the go-ahead run in the 12th will be a great lifetime memory for another one of those Giants callups who was not even considered a prospect, but who had done well this year at Richmond, got his promotion to Sacramento and makes his ML debut tonight. One very memorable evening and it will be more so if the see-sawing can stop with the Giants umpteenth reliever nailing it down.
OK, one run lead is all we’ve got (this time), shut this shit down.
Yep…a very nice first game for Tomlinson, and so cool that his pops and wife are there to take it in. Need to close this bitch out…
Man, Craw does that once in a while.
Well fuck that…WTF
no words. wow.
Un-Fucking-Real…that one stings…
NOt enough to stomach this epic collapse…l
Fucking, fucking, fucking awful.
Wow. Fuck that stadium . That was off the end of the bat. Just blew 2 games in a row.
God this road trip FUCKING SUCKS!!!!
Our bullpen has issues.
I thought that was an easy out.
Well, that sucked.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvRkJzVQBP0
OK, that made me feel slightly better.
Wlell we’ve certain been beaten by a lot of dominos and broken bat hits.
Get Airhead 000 a ticket back to Sac and let Kid Tom have his spot … Fucking bull pen sucks … What this, the third game on this trip we should have won? Too late in the year and too close of a race for this kinda streak.
Too many guys at the end of their string in the bullpen. There’s no quick fix.
I’m off to the north country, gents, Canada, that is. Toronto, Montreal , Quebec City and points around. I’m going to forget this abomination of a game and hopefully when I get back in a fortnight, the Giants will have righted the ship. Right now, I’m a bit concerned my prediction of Pen cratering is coming a bit early. Go Giants!…
You driving Tom?
enjoy…..not terribly far from me….eh?
Flying out to Toronto tonight…
Be sure to check out The Main on Blvd St. Laurent … Directly across from Schwartz’s … The latter is the famous smoked meat place full of tourists .. The former is where the locals go .. you may see Lenoard Cohen in there … I lived in that neighborhood for 9 years.
Sorry .. I’m speaking of Montreal … I’d by pass Toronto … Just a suggestion … I hate that town!
Montreal?
Two and a half days Toronto on biz, them squeeze the rest in about a week — rest of TJs snarkk family is already up there — they went to Niagra Falls yesterday — said they never saw so many ateakhouses in one place…
Yes, lived in Montreal for 9 years … Moved in 92 to SF … I was huge Expos fan until the 1994 debacle
L.E.,
Cool story. I’m a big fan of Leonard. Saw him in Kingston, ON in 2009.
Whatcha mean “North Country”? Except for Quebec City the other two burgs are south of me at 47 degrees, 56 minutes North.
Climate is a powerfull thing heh?
Montreal. Haven’t been there in 20+ years, but I recall the most beautiful and stylish women you’ll see anywhere, tho’ I’ve not been around the world, like Blade.
Ok Pawlie, I’m not sure that Mrs. snarkk would appreciate my looking out for cool, stylish Montreal women, since she’ll be with me… 😉
Yeah, but what Pawlie is saying is true .. The women are like something from another planet .. But in good way, a very good way .. Your neck will hurt from swinging your head around so much … So, you better be prepared with good excuse for Mrs Snarrk as to what you keep looking at!
The Braves rallied from deficits of six runs and two runs to force extra innings. Complete meltdown of Giants pitching.
That was fecking about the most unfun fecking loss in long fecking while. Not fun. At all.
