A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Game Time Thread and the Offer of a Lifetime

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on August 3, 2015

A new bauble arrived via the pony at Casa de Flavor’s this afternoon.

Behold:

candy1

That’s right. An autographed Candy Maldonado. Behind it sits an unautographed giraffe that my daughter played with when she was young. Belt won’t be signing that unless he dines with me in an upcoming evening. Even then…..

To the particulars: The picture cost me $3.05. But shipping was $3.20. This additional fee has soiled the score so I’ve decided to re-list the item on a site more telling of it’s hidden value. Starting tomorrow, you can find this rare collectible listed at https://www.hugginsandscott.com/

I am told they do skillful work with the rarest of baseball finds.

List price will be $1,400. Relax, for you guys I’ll be offering a today in-game price of $1,375. That’s a $25 Flap discount, do not sneeze at that. This offer closes at games end. No exceptions or B/O’s will be considered. At least, at the time this thread went to print……

How did I come up with the list price? Allow me to disclose the true value. For starters, the edges of the photo are impeccable. You could literally slice Gouda with this. And the ink from the pen is so shiny my eyes almost burn if I look at it too long. There are unwritten reports that he once declared this his “best signature ever”. His (and my) biceps are positively peaking. And do I even have to note the classic “Candy smile” that we all secretly admired back in the day? Finally, who among us could ever forget Candy flying in from the right side of the tv screen to protect the good name of Will the Thrill?

One hundred dollars for each letter signed. That’s a sexy, smooth 14 hundo, baby. And I’ll throw in the freaking giraffe just so your significant other doesn’t raise her brow at you…….

So who’s in for the in-game deal of $1,375?

text: “buy it now” or “I gotta have that shit” to my cell……..

Leave questions in the comment section below if you have any but I can’t believe you aren’t working with enough info to buy this bad boy like 10 seconds ago…….

    repeated from prev thread:

    1. I have no idea who Buzzsaw and Hill are? Boxers? Or some sort of extreme sport male Rounda Rousey or whoever she is? I thought Buzzsaw was Loo’s Shea Stadium pal. 2. I have never met or even heard of anyone named Kelby before. Is he on Duck Dynasty? Bring back Jo-Arias.

PK– Aubrey Hill is the bully who used to patrol the sandlots back in the 70’s in San Dawg’s hood. BuzzSaw is the goon who was Loo’s bodyguard back in the day at Met games.

No need to panic tonight anyway. SF’s new BBB-gun attack is hard at it: Buster, Brandon and Brandon(2). Who said it’s only hockey that has power plays? Jeeze, whodda thunk it after yesterday’s near shutout. Just goes to tell ya baseball is always coming up with new adventures in playtime. Way he’s going Crawdaddy should top 20 dingers nicely and Buster will boast more than a hundred rib-eyes once again. What’s Belt gonna do? Keep heating up in that Southern fried climate reminding him of Nacogdoces.

I was there for the Braves-Giants series during a business trip last year. You would never guess the stadium was less than twenty years old. The paint was chipping off concourse walls, the seats had faded color, it was a mess. It was built for the Olympics right before the first of the new era parks were built (Camden, Coors, etc..). It also is in a bad part of down. Just on the other side of the tracks from downtown. There is absolutely nothing around it but freeways. No bars, restaurants, or any of things that make AT&T (and others) so great. Revitalization obviously never came about in this hood of the ATL.

      • blade3colorado's avatar blade3colorado said, on August 3, 2015 at 7:11 pm

      • wilcojoe's avatar wilcojoe said, on August 3, 2015 at 7:15 pm

Much like Houston, the downtown of Atlanta itself is quite boring. Weekdays its all business, but on the weekends it’s a dead zone. However once you get to the midtown and uptown areas (Buckhead) you start to see more restaurants, pubs, music venues and other public areas that are much more inviting.

Didn’t think a moment about it again. Then I see his wife and dad in the nosebleeds and he’s at bat, he gets a hit. Crazy. Kat: Had the same thought. Kelby snapping a base-hit in his first at bat in The Show. That and scoring the go-ahead run in the 12th will be a great lifetime memory for another one of those Giants callups who was not even considered a prospect, but who had done well this year at Richmond, got his promotion to Sacramento and makes his ML debut tonight. One very memorable evening and it will be more so if the see-sawing can stop with the Giants umpteenth reliever nailing it down.
